California Sues to Block Trump’s Signature Campaign Pledge

Doesn’t California Attorney General Xavier Becerra have anything better to do than spend his time suing the Trump administration? Seriously. When he was appointed to the position, was it with the understanding that he would spend the majority of his tenure building a name for himself in the political spotlight? Or was he actually expected to do things that would benefit the people of California?

Knowing the way people vote out there in La-La Land, we have no idea how to answer that question, but it’s clear that Becerra is, in fact, spending most of his time going after the duly-elected president. And he’s less concerned about the people of California than he is the people from every country south of California’s border.

His latest stunt is to sue the Trump administration on the grounds that the president’s proposal to expedite construction of THE WALL would violate environmental laws.

“No one gets to ignore the laws. Not even the president of the United States,” Becerra said as he announced the lawsuit. “The border between the U.S. and Mexico spans some 2,000 miles. The list of laws violated by the president’s administration in order to build his campaign wall is almost as long.”

Excuse us for a moment, Mr. Becerra, but did you actually just say that NO ONE gets to ignore the laws? Did that actually just come out of your traitorous liberal mouth? Because as far as we can tell, the majority of your short time in the attorney general’s office has been spent PROTECTING those who have ignored American law. Isn’t that why you’re suing the Trump administration to prevent them from enforcing penalties against sanctuary cities? Isn’t that why you’re launching this lawsuit – to make sure that your precious illegal immigrants can keep flowing into your state with only minimal difficulty? Your state appears to not only ALLOW people to ignore the laws but CELEBRATE them for doing so!

The lawsuit makes all sorts of claims about the environmental statues and laws the Trump administration is waiving to make room for the wall, and we’re sure they’ll find a sympathetic ear in whatever San Diego federal courtroom they bring the case. It seems the West Coast is simply teeming with liberal judges who are just as eager as Becerra to make a name for themselves by being part of La Resistance.

Ultimately, though, these cases will end up in front of the Supreme Court, and we have at least some confidence in that court’s ability to separate fact from fiction. These are legal publicity stunts that have no relationship to any actual standard of law, and Becerra’s supposed environmental concerns cannot possibly match the national security crisis we have right now at the border.
