Democrat Candidate: Trump’s Election Was Like 9/11 All Over Again
A Democrat running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Kentucky has shown that she fits right in with the party of gross overstatement. In a week where pundits all over television are comparing the Trump administration’s zero-tolerance policy at the border with Nazi Germany, Democratic candidate Amy McGrath has been caught comparing the president’s election with the tragic events of 9/11. McGrath made the remarks back in November at a “Meet the Candidates” event, but they only came to light nationally thanks to recently released footage from the evening.
“And then, of course, the results of the election, we have a new commander-in-chief,” said McGrath, who is a former Marine pilot. “And that morning I woke up like somebody had sucker punched me. I mean, I felt like – ‘What has just happened to my country?’ The only feeling I can describe that’s even close to it was the feeling I had after 9/11. What just happened, where are we going from here, and it was that just sinking feeling of sadness, and I didn’t know what to do.”
So it is that a Democrat who hopes to represent the people of Kentucky in Congress compared the election of an unusual president to the worst terrorist attack in the history of the world – an attack that claimed 3,000 lives and brought down two of the most iconic skyscrapers in the country. An attack that set us on the road to two expansive wars in the Middle East, cost us untold trillions in national treasure, and left many of McGrath’s fellow military servicemen and women wounded or dead. An attack that initiated the War on Terror, that continues in various permutations to this day. But yeah, it was just like the election of Donald Trump.
“In her own words, Amy McGrath woke up the morning after President Donald Trump’s election feeling the same way she felt after a terrorist attack where 2,977 Americans were killed,” Republican Congressional Committee press secretary Maddie Anderson told The Washington Free Beacon. “Her rhetoric is deeply insensitive, divisive, and disappointing. She should apologize immediately for saying that our President’s election caused her to experience the same emotions as the families of 9/11 victims.”
Nah, you know what, she shouldn’t bother. Because we don’t actually doubt that’s how she felt. This kind of bubble-living nonsensical approach to reality is the only thing that explains why Democrats have been acting like they’ve been acting since Trump’s election. We would appreciate it if more of them would just come out and tell the truth about their hysterical relationship with life and politics. It explains everything you need to know about them.
