Democrats and Liberals Dismayed After Wretched Mueller Performance
Democrats, liberal celebrities, and left-wing media pundits should have been singing this tune after the release of Robert Mueller’s report, but apparently none of them actually read what was in the damn thing. Because it was not until House Democrats subpoenaed Mueller to testify on Wednesday that the left woke up to the conclusive fact that this whole legal war against the president didn’t turn out the way they wanted it to.
Incensed and dismayed by Mueller’s refusal to tell the Democrats what they wanted to hear, they were chorus-like in their dejection after the hearings were over.
“A frail old man, unable to remember things, stumbling, refusing to answer basic questions,” tweeted socialist filmmaker Michael Moore. “I said it in 2017 and Mueller confirmed it today — All you pundits and moderates and lame Dems who told the public to put their faith in the esteemed Robert Mueller — just STFU from now on.”
Moore was hardly alone in his depression.
Former adviser to President Obama, Jeremy Bash, characterized Mueller’s testimony as “boring” and “ineffective.”
“I fear,” Bash said, “that this hearing set back efforts to hold the president accountable.”
Over on NBC, political analyst Chuck Todd concluded that the Democrats had really stepped in it this time. While he claimed, absent of reason, that Democrats “got what they wanted” on the substance of the Mueller report, Todd said that if it was their goal to get the public to focus on issues of impeachment, “it’s a complete failure on that front.”
On ABC News, correspondent Terry Moran was even more blunt with his assessment. “Impeachment’s over,” he said. “I don’t think Nancy Pelosi is going to stand for her members bringing forth something that is going to obviously lose in the Senate, lose with the American public.”
And on CNN, frequent Trump critic Jeffrey Toobin admitted that if this could be boiled down to a war between Trump and Mueller, the tide of the battle had turned.
“It certainly seems like Donald Trump is winning between the two of them,” said Toobin.
Yeah, it certainly does.
