Elon Musk: I’m Leaving Tyrannical California Behind Forever!

In remarks on Saturday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that he’s had it up to here with California’s coronavirus lockdown rules, and that he’s immediately planning to move his car company’s operations to another state. Musk took particularly aim at Alameda County Public Health Officer Erica Pan, insisting that she was out of step with everyone else in government.

“Tesla is filing a lawsuit against Alameda County immediately. The unelected & ignorant ‘Interim Health Officer’ of Alameda is acting contrary to the Governor, the President, our Constitutional freedoms & just plain common sense!” Musk tweeted.

“Frankly, this is the final straw,” he continued. “Tesla will now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately. If we even retain Fremont manufacturing activity at all, it will be dependent on how Tesla is treated in the future. Tesla is the last carmaker left in CA.”

Musk’s outrage stems from his original plans to open the Tesla plant on Friday. Just as he was set to put his automotive plant back into operation, however, Dr. Pan determined that Tesla did not have the “green light” to open back up. This, even though Gov. Gavin Newsom sent out the word that retail and manufacturing businesses could get back to work.

“Texas gets better every day,” Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) tweeted in response to Musk’s remarks. “Good conservative principles make good governance, and attract the best and the brightest. The future is happening in Texas.”

“Nevada NEEDS these jobs most of all right now, @elonmusk,” wrote Nevada Republican Dan Rodimer. “We would love to have you and Tesla HQ right here in the Battleborn State!”

Lawmakers in Nevada and Texas may be ready to roll out the welcome mat for the disgruntled California entrepreneur, but it’s been remarkable to see Democrats in the Golden State react to Musk’s announcement. One Democrat simply tweeted, “F**k Elon Musk.” You know, the kind of class we’ve come to expect from California Democrats.

But even the Sacramento Bee Editorial Board has apparently concluded that it doesn’t matter if California’s authoritarian policies drive business owners to leave.

“California’s public health officials must ignore Musk’s ranting and stay the course. Twitter threats from bratty billionaires, anti-vaccine activists and middle-aged ‘militia members’ should play no role in guiding public health policy in the middle of a deadly pandemic,” they wrote. “And what should California’s leaders say if Tesla decides to pick up its toys and move elsewhere? ‘Adiós.’”

Right. Good word choice. Because over the coming years, we’re going to find out what happens to a state when they slowly but surely replace inventors, tech geniuses, small business owners and other economy-driving individuals with low-skilled illegal aliens from Mexico and Central America. We’ll see how long the smugness stays intact.
