House Republicans Make Blockbuster Demand of Justice Department

In an op-ed for Fox News this week, House Republicans Matt Gaetz of Florida and Jim Jordan of Ohio called on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to answer some pointed questions about the doings of Crooked Hillary Clinton, James Comey, the State Department, and the entire Obama administration. Imploring Sessions to appoint a new special counsel to investigate Comey, Clinton, Loretta Lynch, Cheryl Mills, Fusion GPS, and Robert Mueller himself, the two Republicans said the American people deserved to have answers at last.

A sample of the questions that Jordan and Gaetz want a special counsel to get to the bottom of:

Why in 2016 did FBI Director James Comey call the Clinton Investigation a “matter,” not an investigation? After all, Mr. Comey wasn’t Director of the Federal Bureau of Matters.

Why in 2016 did FBI Director Comey begin drafting an exoneration letter for Secretary Clinton, whom he called “grossly negligent” in an early draft of the letter, before completing the investigation?  Before interviewing several witnesses? And before interviewing Secretary Clinton?

Why in 2016 did James Comey and the Justice Department give Cheryl Mills, Secretary Clinton’s Chief of Staff, an immunity agreement for turning over her laptop computer? Typically, the Department would issue a subpoena or get a warrant and seize it. Why in this case did the FBI agree to destroy the laptop?

Why in 2016—one day before the Benghazi report was released and five days before Secretary Clinton was interviewed by the FBI—did Attorney General Lynch meet with former President Clinton on the tarmac in Phoenix?

In addition to these, Jordan and Gaetz said the American people were waiting to find out why Comey – not Lynch – made the decision on whether to charge Clinton, why the FBI paid for the Russian dossier, why Fusion GPS’s co-founder met with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya before and after her meeting at Trump Tower, why Obama’s intelligence officials unmasked American citizens at a record pace in the final months of his presidency, and many other unanswered mysteries.

“On July 27, 2017, twenty House Republican members of the Judiciary Committee sent a letter to the Attorney General calling for a Special Counsel to get answers to the above questions,” they wrote. “On September 28, 2017, five House Republican members of the Judiciary committee met with the Attorney General and Justice Department staff to inquire about the July letter.

“The Justice Department’s response? Silence,” they continued. “It’s time for Jeff Sessions to name a Special Counsel and get answers for the American people. If not, he should step down.”

A dark cloud hangs over the 2016 election, and virtually none of the impending thunderstorm has anything to do with the Trump campaign’s association with Russian officials. The Obama administration tried to thwart democracy with the assistance of the intelligence community and a few outside sources like Fusion GPS. Lest there be any mistake, dirty deals went down and they are being handily covered up by this ongoing fraud perpetrated by the Democrats and Special Counsel Robert Mueller. They weren’t able to keep Trump from the presidency; now their goal is to undermine and ultimately destroy that which they could not stop.

If we are to restore America’s confidence in the justice system, a full investigation must be conducted. The congressmen are right – Jeff Sessions must step up to the plate…or make way for someone who will.
