Justice Coming: U.S. Attorney John Durham Wants to Interview Clapper and Brennan

According to none other than former CIA Director John Brennan himself, U.S. Attorney John Durham wants to interview both him and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper about the origins of the 2016 Trump/Russia investigation.

Durham is conducting an expanding probe into those origins under the leadership of Attorney General William Barr, and the potential ramifications of the inquiry have Democrats, the media, and former members of the Obama administration nervous about what he might uncover.

Brennan, who now works for NBC News as an analyst, told the network this week that Durham has sent out feelers to he and Clapper for interviews. Barr has made it clear that he has questions about why the FBI and the intelligence community opened an investigation into the Trump campaign in the first place, and he has cast doubt on the official story – that Trump associate George Papadopoulos kicked the investigation off with his loose comments to an Australian ambassador. Those questions have only grown more pertinent in the wake of the Mueller Report, which concluded that no one associated with the Trump campaign did anything improper with Russia.

Brennan, naturally, feigned ignorance as to what any of this was about.

“It’s bizarre,” Brennan said. “I don’t know what the legal basis for this is. I’m very comfortable with everything I was involved in.”

Well, we’ll see about that, won’t we? It was interesting to note that the same day that Brennan was nervously contemplating his future as a free man, a separate report came out detailing “unease” within the CIA.

“It’s really not clear where he’s going with this, but a lot of people are very rattled,” reporter Ken Dilanian said of the probe on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. “Those CIA analysts I mentioned had to hire their own lawyers because no one’s even sure whether this is a criminal investigation or not. And if it is a criminal investigation, what is the allegation of wrongdoing? No one I talked to can answer that.”

The media is going to great lengths to portray Barr and Durham’s investigation as some sort of rogue operation intended to intimidate President Trump’s political opponents. To date, we’ve not read a single word in the mainstream media giving any thought whatsoever to the possibility that the Trump/Russia investigation – which, by the way, turned out to be a giant nothingburger – might have been predicated on evidence that was…shall we say, less than compelling.

But of course, admitting that would be to admit that they, too, gleefully lied to the American people for more than two years straight. And that’s something they are never going to do.
