Liberals Offended After Trump Supporters Clean Up West Baltimore
The Baltimore Sun’s editorial board got their knickers in a twist this week after a group of Trump supporters traveled to their city for a clean-up effort. Instead of being grateful that conservatives took time out of their busy schedules to help their fellow Americans escape the squalor that surrounded them, the Sun spent their column space casting suspicions on their motives, blaming them for perpetuating stereotypes, and generally being sour about even the thought that right-wing Trump supporters could actually do some good for their communities.
Don’t be fooled by these do-gooders, the Sun essentially said, they’re still the racists we’ve been telling you they are.
It never seemed to occur to the Sun that, even if every single one of the 100+ volunteers who came to West Baltimore were actually racists through and through, that they obviously set aside their prejudices to remove 12 tons of trash from the sidewalks of these misbegotten streets. Perhaps the paper was just irritated that by doing so, they proved that President Trump was right on the money when he described the squalid living conditions faced by residents of this Democrat-run rathole.
“We assume it was pure motives that led a Trump supporter to launch a cleanup in Cummings’ district, right?,” the editorial board wrote. “It made for good photos, compelling videos and catchy Twitter hashtags. A group of conservatives rolled their pickup trucks into one of West Baltimore’s most impoverished neighborhoods Monday for a cleanup day. Loaded down with trash bags and shovels, they cleared alleyways of old tires, food containers, paper and other debris. They pulled up weeds and cut away overgrown grass. The group posted before and after pictures on social media showing their progress.
“Organizers said the visit wasn’t about showing support or animosity for either man,” the paper’s editors wrote. “Call us skeptical. Whatever he says his motives were, [organizer] Scott Presler’s presence in Baltimore reinforces the tired image that the poor people in this city can’t take care of their own neighborhoods.”
That’s like saying: Police arrest thief, reinforcing tired image of the guy being a thief. We’d say that the state of the streets – not Presler’s presence – did a fine job of reinforcing that image.
But liberals will come up with the most bizarre arguments to avoid taking responsibility for the truth. That’s nothing new. And if they determine that something is “racist,” they’ll go to the ends of the earth to defend that premise, even if it flies in the face of every available fact. Scott Presler and his volunteers knew that before they ever organized the clean-up. That they did it anyway speaks volumes about the true character of Trump’s supporters.
