NY Times Doesn’t Understand GOP’s Position on Energy

nyt

The New York Times wrote a ridiculous piece on Monday, reassuring climate change zealots that Donald Trump could not do a whole lot to roll back the environmental gains of the last decade.

“With Donald J. Trump about to take control of the White House, it would seem a dark time for the renewable energy industry,” the Times wrote. “After all, Mr. Trump has mocked the science of global warming as a Chinese hoax, threatened to kill a global deal on climate change and promised to restore the coal industry to its former glory.”

But the Times says that Trump can only do so much when it comes to climate change policy.

“On a global scale, more than half the investment in new electricity generation is going into renewable energy,” they wrote. “That is more than $300 billion a year, a sign of how powerful the momentum has become.

“Wind power is booming in the United States, with the industry adding manufacturing jobs in the reddest states,” the paper continued. “When Mr. Trump’s appointees examine the facts, they will learn that wind-farm technician is projected to be the fastest-growing occupation in America over the next decade.”

The Times doesn’t drop the leftist hysteria entirely – they say Trump could pull out of the Paris Agreement, leaving the lofty goals of that international confab behind – but they say there is little reason for despair.

“When Mr. Trump gets to the White House, he will find that the federal government actually has relatively little control over American energy policy, and particularly over electricity generation,” they wrote. “The coal industry has been ravaged in part by cheap natural gas, which is abundant because of technological changes in the way it is produced, and there is no lever in the Oval Office that Mr. Trump can pull to reverse that.”

The baffling part about this article is how simplistically the Times sees the Republican position on global warming. This is supposed to be one of the top newspapers in the world, right? But they write as though they’re some little-read left-wing blog that sees climate change as a good vs. evil proposition.

It isn’t. It never has been.

Neither Donald Trump nor any other prominent Republican has a “problem” with wind power or any other renewable energy source. It’s absurd to think otherwise. The problem stems from the federal government pouring billions of taxpayer dollars into programs meant to subsidize otherwise-failing energy projects. The problem stems from regulations that make it difficult-to-impossible for the fossil fuel industry to thrive.

If the free market begins trending away from crude oil and coal, so much the better. No one’s going to stand in the way.

But the days of the White House deliberately picking and choosing which industries succeed or fail…well, those may be coming to an end.

The true question is… does the GOP understand what position they hold on energy?

The Republicans understood the Democrat position on energy. That understanding and their campaign to thwart the policies based upon it helped them win the House, the Senate, the Presidency and most of the states. It remains to be seen, however, whether their policy will be to encourage a free and competitive energy market or whether they will maintain the Democrat centralized control and continue to subsidize economically non-competitive energy sources – given the reliability of political campaign promises like “You can keep your plan if you like it” or “We’re going to do everything possible to defund it.”

      • gotabgood

You had better do something with the energy… talk to the mayor of Miami if there is truly a problem with raising waters.

I am sooooooooooo tired of explaining it to you people… don’t you read anything other than the National Enquirer?
ObamaCare IS NOT AN INSURANCE POLICY!!!!!!!!!! You still have to buy insurance through your insurance company..
ObamaCare is a set of rules. Medical bills use to be the highest cause of bankruptcy, I think school debt is taking over….Many insurance companies gave the bare minimum coverage to keep prices low and if you ever had to use it.. you were SOL! ObamaCare said the companies had to spend 80% of premiums on actual healthcare. ObamaCare said you cannot deny anyone coverage due to preexisting conditions. ObamaCare said there is not limit how much you spend treating your patient.
ObamaCare was meant FOR ALL TO JOIN TO KEEP PRICES LOW IN THE INSURANCE COMPANIES….Rednecks thought ObamaCare was no good… But they liked ACA… lack of education is the problem. Kentucky wanted no part of ObamaCare, they changed the name to Kyneck and they loved it.
It is all based on ignorance or stupidity…. or hate

I use the New York Times to clean fish. It smells better after I do the cleaning than before. It’s the only paper I use. Fortunately I can get it from neighborhood re-cycle buckets because I could not fathom the notion of actually buying that rag. So, the NYT actually does have at least have one productive use.

      Report on Global Warming
      Washington Post

The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water
too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulafft, at Bergen, Norway.
Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto
unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as
far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes.

Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced
by mountains of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely
      disappeared.

Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have
never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds. Within a few years it is
predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable.

      * * * * * * * * *

P.. S. – I apologize, ….. I neglected to mention that this report was from November 2, 1922, as reported by the AP and
published in The Washington Post; almost 92 years ago.

  • Jack Smith

Other than crossword puzzles there is nothing worth wasting ones time reading in the NY Times. When my dad died in 2001 (Read LIBTARD dad) we gave up the only paper used for starting charcoal briquettes or wrapping fish in ( I had a boat lived on the water and fished lots) NY Times was good for taking fish guts outside to compost heap.

    • Bob Marcum

We are on the same page, with the bulk of your blog, but; AS per the global cooling; I believe, the
changes, in the planet’s temperatures, are all ( 100% ) controlled by the forces, within the galaxy,
around the planet, rather than by the human race. I believe; the only real harm we do to the atmosphere, is within the lower level of the atmosphere we breath. The pollution affects our health, dramatically. But; I can’t believe, it actually changes the planet’s overall temperatures.

      • George E. LeFebvre

My exact sentiments. Always believed that whats happening in temps etc is the Earths cycles

      • Jack Smith

I worked in Oil and Gas and I find Fracking disgusting. Have you any idea how much poison chemicals they add to our ground water. I fought against seat belts and lost. That was for the insurance companies. I fought against pollution controls on cars and I am glad I lost when I visit NY city I can breath. I firmly believe the earth needs oil so that it functions normally our removing it causes harm. How i do not know but I would thing tectonic plates should be lubricated to move. I live near Greece and winters are getting colder. We are the warmest country in Europe but the next 2 days are to be -22 C

        Claim of consensus is fake’
Plus: Science group ‘reviewing its stance on global warming’ after 160 physicists sign petition

        The following letter signed by five physicists was sent to all 100 U.S. Senator’s on October 29, 2009. The letter is reproduced in full below;

A GAGGLE IS NOT A CONSENSUS
You have recently received a letter from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), purporting to convey a “consensus” of the scientific community that immediate and drastic action is needed to avert a climatic catastrophe.
We do not seek to make the scientific arguments here (we did that in “http://www.climatedepot.com/2009/11/02/team-of-scientists-open-letter-to-us-senators-claim-of-consensus-is-fake/a/1745/Scientists-Write-Open-Letter-to-Congress-You-Are-Being-Deceived-About-Global-Warming–Earth-has-been-cooling-for-ten-years” an earlier letter, sent a couple of months ago), but simply to note that the claim of consensus is fake, designed to stampede you into actions that will cripple our economy, and which you will regret for many years. There is no consensus, and even if there were, consensus is not the test of scientific validity. Theories that disagree with the facts are wrong, consensus or no.

We know of no evidence that any of the “leaders” of the scientific community who signed the letter to you ever asked their memberships for their opinions, before claiming to represent them on this important matter.
We also note that the American Physical Society (APS, and we are physicists) did not sign the letter, though the scientific issues at stake are fundamentally matters of applied physics. You can do physics without climatology, but you can’t do climatology without physics.
The APS is at this moment reviewing its stance on so-called global warming, having received a Team of Scientists’ Open Letter To U.S. Senators: petition from its membership to do so. That petition was signed by 160 distinguished members and fellows of the Society, including one Nobelist and 12 members of the National Academies. Indeed a score of the signers are Members and Fellows of the AAAS, none of whom were consulted before the AAAS letter to you.

Professor Fred Singer, University of Virginia
        Professor Will Happer, Princeton University

Yessuh hickshits…get ouchyer coal scuttles and stuff dem ole foinaces. Hey stupid morons! No one relies on fossil fuels anymore…only dopey asses in the south and midwest who want jobs with lifetime security. Booooo hooooo! Too bad no one up north will help you pay for your pollution spills, your filthy air, your carcinogenic laced water and soil.

The EPA won’t be dissolved. No one is going to go backward, rip off all of our solar panels that save us hundreds of dollars a year and make your pissbagger fossil fuel CEOs go broke. And don’t we love it?

To show how stupid you assholes are, you actually think anyone on the East Coast will EVER allow you to do what you did in the Gulf of Mexico? Or down there in that West Virginia coal country where coal ash has seeped into their water and is now undrinkable? Or allow an asshole like Snyder in MI to poison OUR kids? Poison your own kids. Stay the hell out of our states. Or, we will make sure OUR STATES rights override yours and sue your asses.

    • barnjoer

I don’t know where you live but Wind & Solar power is nothing but A big joke!! It will never produce enough power to keep up with the waste of electricity! The big northern city’s waste more power than the Wind or Solar will keep up with. No reason to leave all the lights on in the tall buildings in these city’s.

      • Eleanore Whitaker

I live in NJ asshole. We don’t allow drilling rigs and underground leaking pipelines. NJ is No. 3 in solar energy. Where the hell do YOU live that you still shovel coal into your furnace?

NJ has 3 major Solar Energy Companies and there are already over 1 million who have converted to solar energy. In fact, you can come to any one of our cities and towns and see all of the solar panels your moron states don’t have and you pay 35% higher energy rates than we do.

Get a life stupid. Gasoline in NJ is $2/gallon and has been like that now since 2014. We drive hybrids, electric cars and SmartCars. We don’t want your pollution shitbagger. And you will NOT EVER force us back onto your filthy polluted fossil fuels. By the way, the largest solar energy company in NJ already has over half a million customer and that is just one of hundreds in this state. So you go right back to shoveling your coal.

Almost all the oil & gas comes from TEXAS but we have to pay 3 times the price you do. Get A life, nothing is free. Got to work & get off of welfare. Texas is A stand alone state. We have dveyyhing we need right here, don’t need the other 49 for anything!!

        • barnjoer

Yea, keep your Solar, you can never do without Electricity!! That is why you have to share the electric grid with the eastern half of the US & the Westeren half has there Grid. I understand Texas has it on Grid!!! Solar and wind is nothing but a waste of taxpayer dollars subsidizing Obama’s friends. It will never produce enough electricity to justify the price it costs and the upkeep to keep it going. Do some research. Solar and wind is nothing but a waste of taxpayer dollars subsidizing Obama’s and other Democrats friends. It will never produce enough electricity to justify the price it costs and the upkeep to keep it going. Do some research.

    • David C. Lannan

Thank you for showing us your superior intelligence with your profanity laced tirade. Much of the climate change HYSTERIA was MANUFACTURED to make profits for people (many in situations that are a conflict of interest) like Al Gore and other politicians who have investments in renewable energy source companies. The “scientists” who raise such alarms have no concrete evidence – AND are paid by the government for their OPINIONS. Liberal activists claim 97 percent of scientists agree that there is reason for alarm. Of course it doesn’t take much to debunk this LIE. Unless you mean 97 percent of government employees or those benefiting from federal monies that are considered scientists.

You do raise some valid concerns with water. It’s just too bad you had to be an asshole yourself to do it by labeling everyone else an asshole.

The concerns people have with the climate change policies regard the government trying to take more control over private industry. This has worked out so well with health care, real estate and banking… Whenever the government gets involved the consumer finds their energy bills (or other bills) skyrocketing. So excuse us if we don’t want to line the pockets of politicians with investments in alternative energy sources while doubling or tripling our utility bills.

      • Eleanore Whitaker

Hey Shitbagger…I am more intelligent than shitbaggers like you. Climate change is directly attributable asshole to pollution from coal fired furnaces still operating in the midwest as if they are living in the Great Depression Era and from Big Oil.

I know more than your EVER will about pollution. I spent 24 years and 10 months as a tech writer for an environmental engineering company and worked with a PhD from MIT who was a ChemE and a Cambridge England educated MSME. I saw reports nearly every day from the EPA and our NJDEP as well as the PADER and NYDEC. So don’t tell me you are more knowledgeable to puff out those moron balls of yours.

First of all, there are over 150 gas flames that burn off emissions over Galveston. Sit your ass 1 mile atop that area and see if you don’t end up with roast pig. You are pretty stupid if you think those TX electric storms are “natural.” That only shows how little you know about atmospheric pressure that builds up when the lower layers of air streams are overheated by pollution like those gas flames.

Chesapeake Energy knew all about the coal ash they were dumping into WVA water back in 1992. They were warned but year after year played their little delay games. They’d make like they hired someone to remediate the runoff into local streams but by the time they were forced to do it, the coal ash was already in underground leachate and spread across the state. The same “ignernce” happened in NC. They were warned in 1995 about all that arsenic in their water and refused to do anything about it. Now, there isn’t a water faucet in NC that doesn’t have to be filtered.

So..how stupid are you? Don’t tell me that the same flooding the Northeast has NEVER had in hundreds of years and has had for the past 2 decades is normal. It is due directly to rising sea levels. So when Fort Lauderdale disappears don’t bitch.

        • David C. Lannan

Your shitty ass response might be considered more carefully if you didn’t insist on declaring yourself superior and then cussing out the people responding to the issue. I don’t give a rat’s ass about how intelligent YOU THINK YOU ARE if you are going to respond in such a liberal, hateful manner. So, like a typical liberal you defend your point of view first by calling someone names, then spewing your research information.

    • Bob Marcum

I don’t really, want to converse with your idiocy, but; I’ll say only this; ” Keep your poisonous
chemicals, out of the rivers, which flow in our direction “. Aside from that, you’re not sane
enough to carry on an actual conversation.

      • Eleanore Whitaker

We have NO poisonous chemicals. I live in NJ. Our Environmental regulations are the strictest in the country and exceed those of the EPA. Your Republican States are the ones who pollute ours and that costs all of us and we are fukking fed up having to fork over money to help you clean up those goddamn oil spills, fracking chemicals (21 of them, one being the most dangerous, benzene) and your coal ash you toss into your water streams.

Figures coward shit like you think you can deflect YOUR guilt and blame on the rest of us. Eat shit and die you bastards. No one cares what hicks like you think anymore. You had your right wing day in the sun. You already know Trump best get his ass in gear or you lose your right wing Reality TV president.

        • Bob Marcum

WOW; If I didn’t know better, I’d think you actually do have a funny bone. lol

          • Eleanore Whitaker

It is very very sad that our first African-American President will be judged in history as the most inept, corrupt, wasteful, subversive, disruptive and divisive President ever. A man twice elected because of the color of his skin rather than the content of his character.

    • Bob Marcum

Jake; I agree, 100%; and, I add my version of that statement, by saying ” It’s a crying shame,
that, that black p.o.s. has done a lot of very severe damage, to the genuine plight, of the black
race, in this nation. It will. likely, be a very, very long time, now, before the population can trust
a black man to run the nation. It’s totally, unfair to the black race, and I believe, it’ll do a certain
amount of harm, to the women’s chances, also; because, either of them would be within the realm of experimental, in the subconcious mind, of the general populace.

But; that’s only the racial damage, he’s done. The more immediate damage, of course, is the
international perception of the U.S. . I have, however, a lot of confidence, President Trump will
re-create the respect, around the world, which the U.S. had once earned & deserved.
However; I’m not going to believe, he will let the plight of the blacks and women, go unattended.
After he’s got the worst, of the cleanup done, in the swamp, he’ll turn his attention to setting up
programs, to clear the air and restore some integrity, to their well deserved needs.

    • KingDon

If he had listened to the 50% of him that is white instead of only the black part, he might have managed to actually do something productive. Yeh, I know, that sounds racist. I didn’t have a racist bone in my body before this American version of Poppa Doc Duvalier was voted into office by the gimme freebies group.

      • Jake

Don, I’m not racist either. I don’t like his white half either.

        • KingDon

Yeh, I misspoke when I made the statement about utilizing his white half. Actually, if released information regarding his mommy and her lifestyle is correct, there was little hope for him to have benefited from that bloodline either. As far as I know, he’s the only president to ever have nude photos of his mom floating around the internet. His whole life has been pretty much screwed up right from the get-go and we’re living with the results.

          • pineapple

“he’s the only president to ever have nude photos of his mom floating around the internet.”

There are also photos of him smoking pot with his “chum” gang.

      • Karen

Actually, 50% of “it” was muslim, not Black! But he used his dark skin to fool the Black Americans in believing he was going to GIVE the country to them!! The only people he did ANYTHING for in this country was the muslims, allowing them to get a strong foothold in this country to begin their takeover!!

        • pineapple

*Did you know that we now have a Muslim government? *

*John Brennan, current head of the CIA converted to Islam while stationed
          in Saudi Arabia. *

*Obama’s top advisor, Valerie Jarrett, is a Muslim who was born in Iran
where her parents still live. *

*Hillary Clinton’s top advisor, Huma Abedin is a Muslim, whose mother and
brother are involved in the now outlawed Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.*

*Assistant Secretary for Policy Development for Homeland Security, Arif
          Aikhan, is a Muslim. *

*Homeland Security Advisor, Mohammed Elibiary, is a Muslim.*

*Obama advisor and founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, Salam
          al-Marayati, is a Muslim. *

*Obama’s Sharia Czar, Imam Mohamed Magid, of the Islamic Society of North
          America is a Muslim.*

*Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships, Eboo Patel, is
          a Muslim. *

*And last but not least, our closet Muslim himself, Barack Hussein Obama. *

*It’s questionable if Obama ever officially took the oath of office when he
was sworn in. He didn’t repeat the oath properly to defend our nation and
our Constitution. Later the Democrats claimed he was given the oath again
          in private? *

*CIA director John Brennan took his oath on a copy of the Constitution, not
          a Bible. *

*Congressman, Keith Ellison took his oath on a copy of the Qur’an.*

*Congresswoman Michele Bachman was vilified and almost tarred and feathered
by Democrats when she voiced her concern about Muslims taking over our
          government.*

*Considering all these appointments, it would explain why Obama and his
minions are systematically destroying our nation, supporting radical Muslim
groups worldwide, opening our southern border, and turning a blind eye to
the genocide being perpetrated on Christians all over Africa and the Middle
          East.*

*The more damage Obama does, the more arrogant he’s become!*

*Our nation and our government has been infiltrated by people who want to
destroy us. It can only get worse!*

Wow~ you really don’t remember what it was like in 2008? The Bush recession was being heralded in. We were in an unnecessary war in Iraq, the economy was belching jobs like a coal fired electric plant, all our auto companies, except for Ford, were nearly bankrupt and Cheney’s Haliburton was the only one making billions of dollars. You know Jake, I am replying to your ignorant statement because I don’t think you are smart enough to be a troll. Despite total conservative obstruction, history I’m sure will have a much different view of President Obama than yours.

Ed, you probably thought Jimmy Carter was a good president too.

Half of these folks don’t even know that they are lying. And they do not think ahead at all. For example I warned that when it came time to appoint a justice to the Supreme Court that the democrats could play the same game as the republicans. Watch the rejection of candidates drag on and on and on. That will leave us short a judge or two and cause us to have a far more liberal Supreme Court. If the right wing does it for one year the left wing can do it for four years. Paybacks are in order now.

It is obvious that CHUMP will be in legal hell as well as political hell that will never let up. After observing his DA hair cut, the way he holds his pinky finger in the air, his tiny hands, his excessive make up and use of tanning beds, I have concluded that CHUMP is a drag queen.

          • AKLady2015

Add to that two divorces, and two Communist raised and educated wives.

          • glorybe2

AKLADY, YOU GOT SOMETHING RIGHT! OBAMA MADE AMERICAN HATE AGAIN. But we can see change coming now that law and order and hope will replace the willy-nilly asinine proclamations of that idiot Obama (imagine trying to let men go into girl’s restrooms if they feel like women – which contradicts thousands of years of civilization). Obama was considered a minority and so got into Harvard, while most other students can’t. He is a confused racist and deep inside he must know that. But most of us feel better now and we will not hold grudges against those of your ilk, so come on and join us, the Americans who want to work together and create a better and fairer country for all of us. Cheers, CGL, Ph.D.

I’d rather go to Texas than New York (City Esp) – you have the Ivy league colleges because they were founded so long ago they when the country was young (& some before there was an America. The UN will collapse of it’s own weight if everyone is asked to pay an equal share – the US currently pays about 22% of the total budget. Until the Paris or kyoto agreements apply equal standards to ALL industrial nations (esp BRIC – Brazil, Russia, India & China) it doesn’t matter how much more we restrict our CO & CO2 output

          • KingDon

Judging from your dialog, you never attended any of these so-call prestigious colleges.

            Ellie, darlin’,
Is you at it again? (another polite way of saying ‘You ignorant fool, shut up!).

You have no clue, about much, do you. I would lay odds you went to one of those screaming liberal schools you mention, obviously not MIT though. And you took clases like liberal arts, african studies, womens studies, modern psychology, maybe even political science, all taught by “professors” in deshikis, , pant suits, and corduroy jackets with patches on the elbows. And everyone of them told you what is wrong with this country, that being the conservative ideal.

And not one ever pointed out that the term “conservative” stems from the word conserve, which means to save, preserve and protect, as in the Constitution and the liberties garaunteed by it. They all, I’m sure, did their best to point out their progressive ideals and the hindrances the Constitution and the conservatives are causing to them.

All, by the way, false. You have been duped and should sue for your money back, or should I say, get that government money that paid your tuition back to the the government.

          • Deplorable wizard

Oh, and by the way, Elllie, the U.N. leases the building and land, they do not own. They caan, and should, be kicked off our shores. “The first phase of the European Unions Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), which runs from 2005 to 2007 was a failure.

Huge over allocatiion of permits to polluters lead to a collapse in the price of carbon form 33 to 0.02 per metric tonne, meaning that the system did not reduce emissions at all.

Worse still, since some countries (such as the U.K.) had set such tough quotas on emissions, and others set lax targets, the system acted as a wealth transfer
mechanism, effectively subsidizing polluters in states with more stringent
allocations. Overall there are about 6 per cent more permits than pollution.
However, the U.K. has to buy about 22 million tonnes worth of permits a
year while firms in France and Germany could sell off a surplus of around 28 and 23 million tonnes respectively.

Finally, the ETS in phase one was not a real market — instead of auctioning off permits to pollute, member states allocated them free of charge to companies based on how many the government believed they needed. This created severe distortions.

Large companies which lobbied for more permits than thry needed were able to sell them off at a profit. Other institutions like hospital trusts — proved less
            effective at lobbying.

They got too few permits and therefore had to pay into the system.”

If you call that news then no wonder you believe in global climate change farce! KInd of similar to the liberals worrying about the cattle farting and ruining the atmosphere. What loons! Would be funny if it wasn’t so dangerous. Look at the money wasted on renewable fuels during Obama’s watch! All those companies lost their butts and most of it from mis-management or fraud. President Obama Has His
Hand in the Cookie Jar Too.

After accepting $1.25 million in campaign contributions, President Obama made sure to include his “global warming” plans in his victory speech: “We want our children to live in an America that isn’t threatened by the destructive power of a warming planet.”
You are likely familiar with the story of the failed Solyndra green energy initiative, which cost taxpayers $500 million; President Obama took a lot of flak for that.
But here’s a little-known side of the Solyndra story I bet you haven’t heard: Obama, in essence, used taxpayer money to finance his re-election campaign . . . by funneling it through Solyndra.
You see, when Solyndra fell on hard times, it passed into the hands of two large private equity investors . . . Goldman Sachs and George Kaiser. When $500 million in taxpayer money was given to Solyndra, both Goldman Sachs and George Kaiser benefited. Coincidentally, both have made contributions to Obama’s election campaigns adding up to roughly $1.25 million.
          It doesn’t stop there.
In 2010, another federal loan of $400 million went Abound Solar. That resulted in a bankruptcy as well. But investors in Abound Solar seemed to do just fine . . . investors like billionaire heiress Patricia Stryker. Stryker has famously contributed $500,000 to the Coalition for Progress while throwing $85,000 toward Obama’s inaugural committee. It’s just a coincidence that the government handed a company she invested in $400 million just before bankruptcy . . . right?
There’s also A123 Systems, which paid one lobbying firm $970,000 to secure money from the government — and received $279 million in federal assistance. The CEO of A123 Systems went on to fund multiple Democratic senators and contributed to Obama’s campaign.
First Solar received $646 million in government loan guarantees, and has since contributed more than $180,000 to Democratic campaigns.
GE is notorious for spending tens of millions of dollars a year to “buy” green energy credits for its wind turbines and other green technologies — credits which helped the firm pay ZERO taxes in 2011.
There are a host of other examples of liberals getting wealthy off “global warming” initiatives just like these.
You can see why green energy is such a profitable business — CEOs and executives get to rake in millions of dollars, while politicians get lucrative donations for their campaigns . . . and scientists get all the funding they need to keep them going . . . all on your dime.

*Hillary Clinton’s top advisor, Huma Abedin is a Muslim, whose mother and

TEMPE, Ariz. — Man-made “global warming” is a fantastic fable that needs to debunked. That’s the general outlook of scientists, academics, journalists and other researchers who convened for the third congress of Freedom Force International (FFI), which ran Dec. 2-4 at the Marriot-Tempe “on the Buttes” resort hotel near Phoenix. The event was named, “Global Warming: An Inconvenient Lie.”

It offered a staggeringly different narrative on “global warming” and “climate change” compared to the harrowing themes peddled in our “learning” institutions and in the orthodox press, as this writer heard covering several conference speeches and live streaming video news segments with participants that can be viewed at: https://livestream.com/ronavery/global-warming-congress.

Global Warming Congress by Ronald Avery
            livestream.com
Watch Ronald Avery’s Global Warming Congress on Livestream.com. This is a trip from central Texas to Phoenix Arizona and back concerning man-caused Global Warming and weaponized mainstream media. Mark Anderson, roving editor of American Free Press, and wife, Angie, and live-streamer and architect, Ron Avery, and financial analyst, Brent Brewer, are going to the 3rd Congress of Freedom Force International with the theme of “Global-Warming; An Inconvenient Lie,” being held at the Marriott Phoenix Tempe at the Buttes, in Phoenix, Arizona.

FFI, led by widely respected Federal Reserve investigator-author G. Edward Griffin, welcomed an array of speakers to Tempe. They explored “global warming” from several angles, including the “mainstream” media’s intensely biased stance, as well as the role played by K-12 education, the scientific community, general academia, governments, the United Nations, etc.

This writer covered the FFI event for American Free Press.

All these institutions recite the same anti-human narrative that people are a blight who are arrogantly warming the earth through the routine release of carbon dioxide and other “greenhouse gases” via industrial, agricultural and other emissions.

And we’re constantly told that, lest we mend our ways very quickly, we’re all supposedly in mortal peril from this perceived global warming, amid claims of melting ice sheets, rising ocean waters, droughts, flooding, starvation, riots, water wars, etc.

The FFI conference offered credible evidence to the contrary—even including the topic of geo-engineering and weather modification—thereby adding a new, compelling dimension to the climate issue.

All told, FFI members and guests felt their conference was successful in adding much-needed balance to the debate, via realistic perspectives which show that what little “global warming” may exist is not caused by man-made industrial and agricultural emissions, but instead is caused by solar variation and other factors.

Plus, modest carbon dioxide atmospheric increases, conference participants agreed, can be seen as a largely positive thing since CO2 is the “gas of life.”

Accordingly, CO2 increases would give rise to more lush vegetation and greater food supplies. That challenges the standard fright-peddling narrative that global warming is not only being caused by man-made emissions, but also that CO2 is a virtual “toxin.”

Mathematician Lord Christopher Monckton of the UK told The TRUTH HOUND, on hand reporting on the conference for American Free Press, that flawed math is being used in conjunction with computer-based climate models. That, he said, results in exaggerated predictions of global temperature increases.

Expounding on the outlook of the establishment scientific community that insists without apparent dissent that man-made global warming is real, Monckton in a Dec. 2 video interview (among the videos in the Livestream link above) noted, “They’ve exaggerated the amount of warming” but they’ve also “exaggerated the degree of consensus.”

That remark on the amount of consensus relates to what Monckton and several other FFI conference participants pinpointed as a vulnerable linchpin to the whole global warming claim: The allegation, peddled as immovable fact by establishment scientists and conventional media, that “97%” of scientists believe global warming is caused by humankind’s automotive, industrial and farm emissions—among other emissions, even including cattle flatulence.

The reason the “97%” claim is highly misleading, Monckton and other FFI participants noted, is that it’s based on fewer than 100 of nearly 12,000 peer-reviewed scientific papers on climate change. So, saying that 97% of less than 1% of all these studies support the global warming narrative, while making it sound like 97% of the 12,000 studies support it, is a gross distortion.

Monckton went on to say in his interview with this writer that there also has been an exaggeration of the economics regarding global warming (the supposed need to increase taxes and regulations to mitigate the effects of burning so-called fossil fuels).

“But particularly,” Monckton continued, “they’ve made a mistake on the physics and the math,” which he said results in inflated forecasts of temperature increases “of up to 12 degrees Celsius per doubling of CO2.” However, if the flawed math is corrected, he added, “We can say that it won’t be more than 2.7 degrees C per doubling of CO2, and that’s the high end.”

He further clarified that an increase of 1.6 degrees C, or even 0.7, per CO2 doubling, is more realistic in terms of possible warming, when the correct math is applied.

            Other FFI conference highlights included:

Reporter Alex Newman, who said that distortion forms the basis of the corporate media’s totally one-sided view on this issue, even while news reports are replete with references to climate skeptics as mindless “climate deniers” whose very existence doesn’t deserve acknowledgement.
The fact that John Holdren, a retread from the “global cooling” scare stories in the 1970s-80s, has reemerged as President Obama’s “science czar.” The old stories that up to 1 billion could die from global cooling have given way to Holdren’s calls for forced abortions, even while various climate gurus pursue draconian depopulation directives to combat “global warming,” because, to them, fewer people leaving “carbon footprints” equals a “healthier” world.
Stark contradictions, such as a May 2014 LA Times report, “Irreversible Collapse of Antarctic Glaciers Has Begun,” even while NASA cited “record amounts of sea ice.” Then, in May 2015, the UN Foundation and mainstream media partners formed a “news collective” to advance the “correct” climate narrative. But behind the scenes, as Newman showed, a Senate report documents a “billionaires club” that underpins the “green” movement via Rockefeller funds, etc.
An outgrowth of all this is that nearly all media reports call CO2 “pollution” when, in reality, “Human emissions are less than 1% of all greenhouse gases in the atmosphere,” and CO2 is but one component of those gases, as Newman explained. Therefore, the real purveyors of “fake news” are so-called “mainstream” outlets.

Also, Canadian Professor Tim Ball announced to FFI that, soon after the conference, he was to meet with President-Elect Donald Trump’s people to discuss the climate change issue and pursue more realistic policies. This news was well received and fits into Griffin’s mission to have FFI be a true, active “force” for constructive policy changes.

And among other compelling speakers, independent researcher Jim Lee awed many when, backed by memoranda, news clippings and declassified documents, he showed there’s been 100 years of earnest efforts to manipulate the weather, though not always for nefarious reasons.

His http://www.climateviewer.com website (also http://www.climateviewer.org) cover considerable ground in documenting and explaining the established know-how to create, intensify and influence the path of rain storms and much more powerful storm movements.

One, among several, conclusions is that anomalies in the world’s climate (extended droughts in the West amid massive, unexpected dumps of rain elsewhere etc.) can be traced to various phenomena including geo-engineering and weather manipulation, but weather gyrations are equated with the common global warming narrative to present a false picture to the public. It’s highly recommended that the reader view this interview by The TRUTH HOUND with Mr. Lee here: https://livestream.com/ronavery/global-warming-congress/videos/143406499

You just stated the real reason that they should be discounted and as a cluster of mindless
moron that are incapable of producing any thing of value to the world. Yale, Harvard and
Princeton produce nothing beyond Lawyers an most of them are corrupt and should be
disbarred, matter of fact many have been due to lack of Ethics. MIT is a different
animal though they have turned out some exceptional skilled gamblers that tot busted
in Vegas. I think your examples are all full of themselves and probably smoked way
to much of the wackey bacca rather than actually studying and learning the skills of
life and how to deal with it. But since you attack religion I suspect it scares you since
        you do not understand it.

      • Michael Paul

And Yale, Harvard and Princeton give us a large percentage of our politicians who have done a fine job of ruining this country. Witness the current President – the racist Obama – who graduated from Harvard but we have yet to see his grades (I wonder why). George Bush, the son, graduated from Yale(I think) and he also did a fine job of bringing this country down. The college that you graduate from has nothing to do with your smarts (common sense). Personally, I’d rather see a winning general as Sec. of Defense no matter where he went to college. At Veterans Affairs, I would want to see a smart veteran even if he never went to college. At Agriculture, someone involved with the farming industry no matter where they went to school, etc. and so forth.. Our country has been run too often by the Ivy League graduates and they have done a horrible job, no matter which party they work for. And by the way, your small mind should do some research and realize that there are many fine institutions of higher learning throughout this country that are not Ivy League (which in many cases is another way of saying that my father went to Yale so I can get in).

        • pineapple

Yes, fuuk the UN and all of their ilk.

      • kbmiller

You fat, ugly stupid, foul mouthed, pigof a slut. Your parents must be so embarrassed. If the US has the toughest standards on emissions at coal fired electrical generation plants in the world, and countries like China, has none, why is it difficult for “Global Warming” nutcases to see, that US coal exported to China and burnt there, will, overall, just increase “GLOBAL” pollution? How does a college “Each” religion? You DOOFUS?

        • Eleanore Whitaker

Fukk off masturbator bastard. Who cares what you think? You pieces of hick shit don’t even know how to flush your own toilets.

Who turned off that red whore light on your front porch? You can see my photo on FB and in bookstores where both of my novels are sold. So…ASShole. I am so well educated. But I am NOT going to allow the shitbaggers like you to impose your screwed up ideology on ME…not when I pay more goddamn taxes than you hicks EVER do. Now do be a good little spiteful shitbagger and put on your armor…the Lefties, Middies, Centries and Socialistees are about to dam up your right wing threads. See? And we don’t even have to lay on finger on our dumb asses. All we have to do is bombard your right wing sites until you are outnumbered.

        • Eleanore Whitaker

Hey Moron…Tell me..WHY was the UN started and when? You are too ancient to take seriously. You are just jealous because your hick states don’t have the UN presence as NY state has nor do you have any Ivy League Universities of the calibre of MIT, Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Princeton or Fairleigh Dickinson. OOOOOOOOh that must hurt your “ignernt” brain right? You sent your poor white sharecroppers off to fight in a US Civil War so your states could buy and sell human beings. When you didn’t get your way and lost that war, your answer was to lynch, murder, burn crosses and bomb black churches. You want another Civil War? You’ll get it. As for war veterans you assholes of the right allowed the Republicans to cut funding to the VA. Your Bush asshole closed 11 military bases on the East Coast, the entry point for most terrorism and then reopened them in hick states like TX, WY and OK. Not to worry. Thanks to twatfaces like you, Trump has the entire East Coast locked down in security.

If there is another terrorist attack, it will be in Galveston where those 150 Oil rigs can blow all of you hicks to smithereens. Your turn to recover from a 9/11 episode Ms. Shitballer.

My my my…Your post sounds defensive. You wouldn’t get anything from me if you lay in a curb rotting. I am born and bred in NJ, the state where Edison invented the lightbulb, a Princeton President became US president, where millions flock to our beaches every year and where we are paying 6 of Trump’s bankruptcies. I hope you’ll enjoy his 3500 lawsuits you and your hicks will end up paying. WE in NJ already have alerted our STATE AG that we want no part of anymore of Asshat Pretender President’s debts.

You bet I’m writer and a published one several times over. We writers know who to trash and who not to trash. My Two books both have ISBN numbers that verify they are published. The first book, a suspense novel, “Barrow House” was published in 2010. The 2nd, “The House at the End of Langdon Road” was published in 2011. The publisher has since gone out of business.

I’ve also helped publish several technical white papers on Arsenic in Water, Greensand Marl and one I published without assistance on HCFCs. I have ghost written over 5300 articles for business blogs, white papers and products and services for SEO.

          • SUZANNE M.

WELL NOW ELLIE, THIS IS THE CLEANEST RESPONSE I BELIEVE YOU HAVE GIVEN ANYONE SO FAR……I DO BELIEVE YOU HAVE WRITTEN BOOKS…BUT THE REASON THE PUBLISHER WENT OUT OF BUSINESS, MOST LIKELY, IS THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD A BEST SELLER ON THEIR HANDS AND HAD WAY TO MANY PRINTED…HOW MANY ACTUALLY SOLD?ACTUALLY ANYONE CAN WRITE AND SELF PUBLISH…SO TRY THAT WITH YOUR NEXT PULITZER……BLESS YOU LITTLE HEART. YOU WERE DEFINITELY BRED….BY WHAT , I DON’T KNOW….AND AS FAR AS NJ GOES…BEEN THERE A FEW TIMES. DROVE RIGHT THROUGH THE “ARM PIT” OF IT AND I DID A JOB IN RUMSON……THE CLIENT WAS AS NASTY AS YOU ARE….MUST BE ALL THE POLLUTION FROM YOUR ARM PIT.

There is global warming. It’s a cycle the earth has been going through since it was formed. If it wasn’t we would still be in the ice age. Heaven forbid. I’m loving this global warming. Right now we get very little ice and snow. I can remember when I was little the rivers freezing over, solid, and snow all winter long. If Al Gore screws this up and we start going back into the ice age, I’m going to sue his butt.

A bit of research may well find that oil is a renewable resource, but the libs and others who have bought into global warming based on “fossil fuels” and man made results continue to put their heads in the sand. Wouldn’t one think that over all the time oil has been taken for fuel that we would run out of it much before now? Wouldn’t one think that where the Gulf of Mexico is there are many oil drilling platforms but how many prehistoric animals could have died there and keep supplying oil? Methane compressed from deep in the earth’s crust on its its way to the surface can eventually produce oil. This is easily found with some research. Not until solar, wind and other forms can be used effectively without government subsidies and a good profit made from them will they be a successful form of energy. Meanwhile oil is being produced from the earth and the naysayers continue to pound on the 1940’s belief that oil is from fossils.

  • Wethepeople Freedomnow

The NYT is primarily financed by a Mexican Billionaire, its the most unprofitable news media in USA, along, with the Washington, rather washboard post, both subsidized by corrupt-deceitful-greedy leftwing elites, foreign and domestic…Climate Change, Global Warming, call it what you will is primarily a scam to make big money for the corrupt in united nations atheist-marxist pinheads to redistribute the USA, UK, Germany, France wealth. It should be noted, and all who attended 8th grade school our creator designed the perfect ac/heating system ever called the SUN and as we rotate around that radiant burning body of heat, and depending on its radiant explosion large hot, small cold, the earth and all other planets in our solar system climate change according to its distance from the SUN, happening for tens of millions of years, long before human industrialization, since the universe has been in existence, that is with LIGHT [explosion] still expanding the universe with light for roughly 5 billion years.

Lets get back to earth…All vegetation consumes carbon gases…their primary nutrient and release oxygen. Obviously trees, depending on size, consume roughly 20 thousand tons of carbon gases in their life time, on average, the perfect filtration system… while humans and animals release carbon gases and inhale oxygen, a perfect marriage. Now when humankind exhumes a tree for whatever reason, they must replace that tree with minimum 3 trees, this keeps the necessary balance to keep our air filtered from most of the carbon gases. So unless the SUN ceases to exist and humans around the world don’t replace those trees they use…WE THE HUMANS of Earth have a problem. And Al Gore and Barack Hussein Obama and Hilary Clinton and those in our government for climate control futility get smart-get real-get going-plant the dam trees its a fraction of the cost and it works!

  • daveveselenak

The useful idiots on the Left can’t realize that it is a scam to enrich their Leftist, NWO elitists at the useful idiots expense, what a bunch of stooges! REVOLUTION will be the SOLUTION – that is where we are headed, guaranteed!

  • Albert Jay Nock

China and India put our 6 times as much carbon per $ GDP as we do. That’s where the global problem lies. Our costs have driven our manufacturing jobs there. And wind power has been shown in studies (See the ERCOT Bentek IV one done in Texas) that it doesn’t reduce fossil fuel use or carbon emissions after all. That’s because it forces the gas plants to ramp up and down more to keep the voltage constant. Sort of like driving your car in traffic.

  • tCotUS

Boycott the NYT..If it wants to redeem itself in the eyes of America, write an article about the US Debt under O’Vomit.
Our National debt has increased approximately $68,756 per household during O’Vomits Presidency. That’s 86% more than the last President,
& 256% more than all the other Presidents combined.
This will be the O’vomit’s Legacy, a traitor, a muslim, a village idiot.

  • James Maxwell

Considering that the so called “Climate Change” is nothing more than a scam to enrich some companies
and personal friend of Al Gore and company around the world with Wind and Solar power is it any
doubt that the NYT would make such an asinine statement. The whole scam is base upon the
corruption of the scientific data that has been accumulated over hundreds of years and more recently
thru core sample at both poles showing atmospheric changes that can be and has been documented
by honest scientific data. It also can be show in our position to the Sun, Moon and other items such
as the tilt of the Earth Axis as we wobble thru space. Our planet has gone thru warming and
cooling cycles since it was first formed in the vastness of space. CO2 levels have risen and fallen
over eons of time as our planet developed life and forest, Man has had some impact on the planet
but primarily in the pollution we have created with our need for various products and not watching
the pollution that was created by such things as plastic and development of certain weapons.
I seriously doubt if any of the NYT staff has ever taken or even read anything on Climatology,
the cause and effects beyond what they had over cocktails with someone who fed them a total
line of B/S with no real fact to back them up.

    • anibanib

True CO2 levels have risen and fallen over time, but never about 250 ppm…. and during the past 700000 yrs, many times, the usual time was about 70000 years from hot to Cold……….now modern humans have managed to go about 250 ppm and weware now around 402ppm, achieved in about 250 yrs,……not 35000 years……..and is Rising quicker than ever

      • James Maxwell

Part of your figures are due to the deforestation by humans in parts of the world especially
in South American and also due to the increase of commerlization in China and other
emerging nation where they do not have pollution guide lines. The United States and
other civilized nation have take steps to clean the coal and other fossil fuels the
consume to lower emissions. But until we restore the Green Zones in the worled
the problem will increase at times. There are factors that we have no control
over such as the Earths Orbit, the output of the Suns energy levels, the tilt of the
earths axis as we wobble thru space. There are examples from the past proven
thru Ice Core samples that have shown much higher levels of co2 and other gasses
during periods of extreme volcanic activity. No man made control can nor will lower
        the gasses.

        • anibanib

“”Part of your figures are due to the deforestation by humans in parts of the world especially
in South American and also due to the increase of commerlization in China and other””………but this has only happened on a grand scale is say the past 50 years…………..and where most of the Forests have been removed, no attempt has been made to replant, its all about greed and stuff the consequences, Sweden on the other hand have laws that replanting must take Place within 5 years, as we now see that the forest area is not reducing, its is increasing, and like you say the way the sun and the Earth change their positions……..that as we know is about every 70000 years…….the last major iceage was a mere 15000 years ago, half the North American continent was covered with ice…so if Sweden can stop using fossil fuels for energy production, why cant other countries……….simple answer is cos its easy and convenient to use fossil fuels……..and they say, so what about climate change…..and now many are blaming China…….shifting the blame is an uncanny trait the USA have

          • James Maxwell

Facts are not shifting the blame, In the United States we have reduced our
carbon footprint more than any other civilized nation on earth. Trying to twist
facts to suit your argument does not make it so.

          • anibanib

Facts, whether you like them or not are the following………….

2000 Sweden 6.5 tons per capita……..USA 20.8 tons per capita

2014 Sweden 4.8 tons per capita……..USA 16.7 tons per capita

If everybody was as rich as Donald Trump (or Bill & Hillary Clinton), they wouldn’t have to worry about their utility bills. One very significant factor left out of a lot of this “green energy” debate is cost. Coal, natural gas, and nuclear are all relatively competitive economically. Hydro (dams) are less expensive, given that there are no “fuel” costs, but we’ve pretty much run out of places to build new dams (and here in the Pacific Northwest, there are environmentalists who want to take out our dams too, because they claim they interfere with salmon runs in the Snake and Columbia Rivers). Wind power is much more expensive than coal/gas/nuclear (by a factor of 4, as quantified by cents per kW-hr). Solar power is much more expensive than wind. Obama even remarked once that if his energy policies were put into place, the cost of energy “would necessarily skyrocket!” Well, average, Middle Class Americans do NOT want their utility bills to “skyrocket!” For most people, that would put their utility bills on par with their house payments. Another thing that adds to the cost of “renewables” (like wind and solar) is that they are not reliable. Wind power output fluctuates unpredictably with how strong the wind is blowing (duh!) and solar panels do not produce power during the night (again, duh!), even though power demand never goes to zero. Heating demand increases in the winter when temperatures drop, and appliances like refrigerators and freezers never turn off (except of course according to their own temperature regulating cycles). Within the power utility world, there is a term called “firming,” which means that when the wind isn’t blowing, the wind component of the power grid has to be backed up with something that is reliable (like natural gas or coal plants, or excess hydro here in the Northwest). Now for the really insidious part about wind: when the wind IS blowing, that standby power is sitting idle (ready to kick in at any time as its needed), and YOU the ratepayer are PAYING for it to just sit there!!!

    • anibanib

You covered just about every form of energy production, except one…………household waste…..which is about 700kgs per person per year……….instead of creating more landfill sites across the USAsome the size of large cities, incinerate the waste and create energy

      • Kevin

Yes, bio mass is another source of energy, but its potential is not large. The last time I saw figures (and these numbers vary greatly across the USA, but they represent our national average): Percentages of energy that contribute to the electrical grid: coal 50%, natural gas (20%), nuclear (20%). (More recently, I understand that gas has taken over more of the grid from coal, due to the economics of gas.) But, that leaves 10% for “everything else” – and hydropower is about 6% (its more than half here in the Pacific Northwest due to around 30 large dams on the Columbia River, but nowhere else in the USA is there that kind of large potential hydro power). So, the remaining 4% are comprised of wind, solar, geothermal, biomass, and a very small amount of oil-fired/diesel-fired plants (I think there are some in the Northeast). I admit I don’t know much about biomass conversion, but yes, we should pursue all forms of energy that are economical. Every form of energy has its advantages and disadvantages, and by having a mix of energy sources, you can play the advantages of one against the disadvantages of others, etc. For example, a nuclear plant operates best when it goes up to 100% power and stays there for 18 months to 2 years. So, baseload generation is where nuclear works best. Its not well-suited for “load-following” (which is meeting the fluctuations in demand when people turn on their stoves during dinner-time, etc.). Load-following is best served from natural gas plants, that can ramp up in power rapidly to meet changes in demand.

Swedens energy Picture is something like this………….

          Hydro 40%, Nuclear 32%,Renewables about 27%

Renewables are mainly from waste in the south where the larger cites are, further North forest waste is added, but the main source is household trash…….and we only throw away 170kgs per person per year,,,,,,,,,whereasthe USA throws away about 700 kgs perperson per year……….4 times that of Swedes……..sowhy is it that the USA is so stubborn and set in her ways as not to explore the possibilites………the waste is there, build incineration plants and produce energy…….Swedens CO figures are in the mid 20s,whilst the USA are over 500……..and still you say……””Yes, bio mass is another source of energy, but its potential is not large.””……but together with household trash you could rid yourselves of coal fired plants………we did….. anyway

As usual the New York Times is putting out more fake news. Our new president will deliver on his promise to de-regulate the coal industry and as far as natural gas is concerned, natural gas also has a lot of government regulations. This is ridiculous. Especially since natural gas burns mush cleaner than coal and oil.

The very point is that we want the fossil fuel use to be shut down. There is a failure of understanding on just how serious global warming is. The Defense Department considers global warming the most serious threat to the survival of our nation. The public is already paying big time for their food which is now expensive due to the violent weather caused by global warming. It is hard to raise crops or livestock when the weather is so violent that farms are wiped out by storms, floods, water shortages and fires. Florida is retreating from the citrus industry now as warming has caused foreign pests to thrive here. You may have noticed that buying a good orange in a grocery store is now sort of a rare event. Most oranges are sort of disgusting these days.

The problem with wind energy is two fold. First is that it can’t compete w/o being subsidized (which is redundant) and secondly the “costs” to the environment are serious — by that I mean windmills kill birds and bats by the thousands. I’m a pro human individual and for humans to thrive a biological system for keeping bugs in check must exist and a way to pollinate plants must exist. Birds and bats are part of that system.
I seem to understand that when you burn Natural Gas you get water vapor. Water vapor is the “worst” of the so-called Greenhouse gases. When coal burns it produces Carbon Dioxide. Carbon Dioxide is to plant life what oxygen is to animal life. The data are clear, the more CO2 in the atmosphere the easier it is to grow crops and trees etc. [I have been surprised the Greeneacs have not decided that carbonated beverages must be banned due to all the CO2 released when you “pop the top.” (Maybe they just haven’t thought of it, never mind.)
While I don’t believe there is significant “global warming” if there was I would be all for it. Global cooling is a much bigger threat to human life. The mini ice age devastated society. The couple years following the volcanic eruption in Indonesia in 1815 lead to droughts, floods and starvation in many places world wide. It will be much easier to adapt to a warmer world than a colder/wetter one.
Coal, in it’s ancient and traditional uses was a bit dirty (soot etc.) and as such became problematic for the scale of our society. The industry learned how to clean itself up. If CO2 is a problem (and I, for one, don’t really think it is) the coal industry will either address the problem, or we will move on — maybe we will finally become the hydrogen economy Henry Ford noted was our future. I like to note that coal is the first solar energy (though someone always notes we burned wood first, but “coal the second solar energy” does not have as good a ring to it as a motto for the industry.

Without the $billions of stolen taxpayer’s money, there isn’t a single “green” energy program that woroks. Only geothermal can work without govt interference and money, but it’s limited to only a very small part of the country.

    • anibanib

There is one other way of generating energy, that is almost non-existant in the USA, incineration of household waste. According to sources, the USA produces about 700 kgs of waste per person per year…….about………about 225 million tons, which is transported to gigantic landfill sites right across the country.
Here is my country we started the incineration of household waste along with forest and sawmill waste in the early 1960s, and now incineration plants are right across the country, which supply about 30% of our needs….hot water and electricity, emissions areabout 24lbs CO2 per Mwh energy compared with the best fossil fueled plants which have about 500 lbs CO2 per Mwh energy……here is a modern plant https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c9509526a42362774d49e65c163996b0d48f4a3fb1d8ac62bf995a6a905d907d.jpg

Why is it that the idiots who push wind and solar power only give one side of the story.
yes you can get electricity generated by wind and solar by at what cost. I checked out what
cost there would be in putting solar panels on my 1 family two story house, $26,000, my average
cost per month for electricity 250. 26000 divideded by 250 equals 104 months or 8 years 7 months
before I save 1 penny and that is if I pay the 26,000 outright, if I had to pay interest on a loan that
only increases my cost and extends my recovery time. so where is the savings and really just how long
will anyone wait before the stop paying for these panels, I do not have acres of land to put up wind
turbines and I dont want to kill any birds which they have by the thousands and they have killed the
Bald Eagels while they were still classified as protected by they were never charged. I am sure
we can knock down some buildings in midtown Manhattan to put up these turbines and how much
electricity they generate to power Manhattan? who maintains them? It seems the only people who
benefited by these solar power companies were Democrats or friends of Democrats. the public lost
but the Democrats lined their pockets and their friends pockets.

    • Arizona Don

I am neither democrat or a friend of democrats.

I suspect some parts of the country are not as conducive to solar as others. However, here in Arizona it works fine. I suspect in Alaska it would not work well. Those I see as the two extremes all the rest is somewhere in between. Clouds however have no effect. I do not and am not pushing solar however, in my case it saves me about four hundred or so a month. Especially in the summer months when air is used 24/7. We have a rather large house but the electric bill ran between 600 and 700 a month. With solar in winter the electric bill is now 0 and in summer about 20 to 30 dollars sometimes slightly more if we have lots of visitors. The lease is 200 a month. We lease it for several reasons but the biggest reason is if something breaks they fix it, at no cost to me, and in 10 years we can buy it if we want to for about a third of original cost. I however, do not see it as cost effective to purchase it outright. Rebate or not!

I would not ever even consider wind. Personally I consider them the most polluting of all. Going thru Banner pass to California they have many wind generators. The wind always seems to blow there. Rather ugly sight.

  • zrevtom

Oh I forgot one thing I wanted to say
What happens when the sun dont shine and the wind dont blow,

Don’t believe this malarkey about Renewable Energy Sources — They are Failed and Inefficient and only workable with massive subsidies — Fossil fuels are efficient and plentiful in the USA (we are #1) and can stimulate our lagging “Obama” Economy. By the way, Scientists have proven that CO2 (Man-Made or Otherwise: Is Not a Problem! Plus, there is No Impending Global Warming Climate Crisis which many factions are deliberately LYING to Control & Tax you!).
As a result of the flawed science of Man-Made Global Warming based on invalid & unscientific
UN IPCC climate models, the EU is a mess and Germany’s Angela Merkel is in deep trouble for her radical globalist/progressive agendas & huge investments in Renewable Energy that have totally failed:

    1) In addition to Merkel’s open borders and immigration disaster;

    2) Her unwise and huge investments in ‘Renewable Energy’ via Solar Panels and Wind Farms that have failed miserably when she mothballed her efficient & cost-effective nuclear and other power plants which she expected would reduce energy costs by Implementing inefficient & inadequate solar panels and wind energy which has fallen far short of expectations causing massive increases in government subsidies and a 3x-increase in energy costs to the consumers which has everyone in Germany upset due to the extremely high cost of electricity in Germany now. Plus the need for frequent supplements from neighboring countries coal-fired power generators! [Unfortunately, the Media will not tell you much about this failure of Renewable Energy policy in Germany by Merkel].

Merkel has taken Germany’s viable and extremely stable power grid and replaced it with a failed and
unstable power grid that needs standby conventional power plants as well as the need to obtain power supplements from neighboring countries and their conventional power plants. Their engineers and politicians expected that global warming would continue and spike, but since there has been no global warming trend in the last 18.5 years since it peaked in 1998. They expressed surprise that there is not nearly as much solar and wind energy as they expected since Global Warming Trends has not continued as the Man-Made Global Warming Alarmists (GWA) have falsely claimed.

A very stupid and unfounded policy move based on ideology and the unfounded belief in a Man-Made
Global Warming Crisis in the 21st century. Especially since Germany’s weather is often dreary and the current Modern Solar Warmer Maximum is now on its downward slope towards the next Modern Solar Cooler Minimum for the next 20-30 years – They are going to need much more cost-efficient energy to keep warm to deal with much more (possibly extreme 200- or 400-year breaking) cold, ice and snow winter conditions.
Note: Scientists have now proven that increasing temperatures by the Sun’s Energy as well as other natural causes are responsible for 95% of the atmospheric CO2 (400 ppm today), not Man that contributes only about 5% (~20 ppm) and the warming effect and a global warming crisis has been wildly exaggerated by the UN IPCC and the GWA!

Also, expect much more EU-EXITS soon – Globalism, Socialism, Progressivism is not working culturally
or financially – Trump has it right and will “Make America Great Again”, but he will also fill the leadership void to also improve world conditions, over time!

Instead of thinking we can convert to alternative means of energy why don’t they put the money into cleaning the fossil fuel output of what we have. They have had the technology to do that for years. It’s just to expensive for the industry’s to foot the bill themselves. The wind turbines drive the people that live around them crazy with their noise and kill tons of birds according to articles that people have written about them. I would love to own a house that was solar powered but unlike sunny California the sun doesn’t shine enough where I live plus what regular person can afford these prohibitive expensive alternatives? The only way we can not affect this world is for a catastrophic event that either reduces world population and returns it to the dark ages or wipes it out altogether. Face reality people. The Federal Gov’t can spend a lot of tax receipts unwisely. The correct way to change it is to write your Congressional Rep. There is no doubt that some global warming is taking place and no doubt that some laws could be passed to reduce or increase the amount. There is also a belief by many that the harm that will be caused by the warming is small compared to harm caused by other things. With luck the correct knowledgeable people will examine the facts and allocate tax money and efforts appropriately. There are a lot of “mistakes” (lies? )in the propaganda spread by both sides of this issue. The gov’t likes to have a lot of tax money to use “as it sees fit”. An informed voting public is the only control. Two two inch notebooks full of “news reports” on this subject tells me that we have worse problems to worry about.
It will get warmer and some ice will melt. The oceans will probably rise very little because of it. No water rise will be caused by the melting of floating ice. (Otherwise every tea glass in TEXAS would run over.)
Don’t confuse “loose talk” with “lies”, it just makes enemies where we need to be friends.

  • Clarice

The abundance of wind machines embedded in millions of acres of land are the result of lucrative government subsidies that encouraged their installation. Local governments snapped at this source of federal funding at the expense of their local industries while overlooking the ultimate loss of tax revenues. When the new administration starts tightening the federal budget and cutting impractical funding to local communities, existing wind farms will be forced to prove their true operational worth. Additional new installations will very likely not occur. It will be interesting to watch a competitive market reopened when restrictive regulations are lifted on coal, oil and gas production and low cost electricity can again be assured.
This uncalled for federal financing of high cost wind generation undoubtedly contributed to the national debt now in the trillions that was based solely on United Nations demands for renewable energy. Manipulated data and resulting false science was used to force through the unproven concept of “Human produced CO2 causing global warming, thereby leading to claims of Climate Change”. In the process entire industries dependent upon economically generated power, have been painfully and needlessly forced out of business while industry officials and the general public obediently accepted the hoax and failed to fight against this huge lie. However, although the rebuilding of production and distribution systems will be costly, but will utilize new technology and certainly with consideration of cost-effective capital investment measured by pay-back time typical of the free enterprise system that made our country successful and GREAT.

  • Carl Looney

CO2 does NOT cause climate change. There is too little of it. WATER AND WATER VAPOR ARE HUNDREDS OF TIMES STRONGER in causing warming and cooling (CO2 has essentially no effect by comparison). THE TILT OF THE EARTH IS CHANGING NOW AT ITS GREATEST RATE OF CHANGE. THIS WILL, IN THE NEXT CENTURIES CAUSE WARMER EQUATORIAL OCEANS, MORE CLOUDS AND RAIN, BUT MORE ICE AND COLDER TEMPERATURES FARTHER FROM THE EQUATOR (IN THE TEMPERATE ZONES FARTHER AWAY). It has been this way for millions of years and it will continue for millions more (but not forever). The solar radiation is now increasing on the Equatorial oceans and decreasing on the outer Temperate Zones. A state of mixed changes is now occurring, but eventually the equatorial zone will be much hotter and the oceans there will be warmer, with the Temperate Zones much colder and frozen over with deep ice. The 42,000 year cycle of the Earth’s tilt is what drives the more extreme heating and cooling, while the orbit of the Earth about the Sun changes over a 100,000 year cycle in a way that changes the seasons (but these also change, e.g., in a few thousand years, the Summer and Winters will be in rather different months than now). CGL, Ph.D.

The Times full of people who followed the news but paid no attention to articles on manipulation of the quantity cow flatulation or the professor in England whose emails were hacked then publicized how he was colluding with other’s how to fabricate stories about tree rings to prove global warming. So many working so hard to manipulate science, even the hockey stick theory proven a hoax and it dose not set off one warning bell among the lot of them? Maybe it is because I was told saccharine consumed at the rate of 600 bottles of diet drink a day might cause cancer (that is the equivalent the lab tech fed to mice proving it caused cancer) or it could be the plastic butter I ate for decades because the same lab pro’s informed all of us it was was better then real butter! But the bottom line is they are printing and pushing what feels sell able now. More blathering from the NYT. One should espouse on a known topic. CLIMATE CHANGE IS ALWAYS ONGOING IN THE VARIOUS CYCLES OF 11, 80-110, 1500, 41,000 and 100,000 years that interact to cause continual change up and down. NOW, ABOUT THE CO2 WARMING SCARE: WATER VAPOR IS ABOUT 100 TIMES STRONGER AT HEATING AND COOLING THAN CO2 (that radiates net heat upward and away from Earth in an average sense). Water in the oceans exacerbates this as ocean currents warm and cool. The main cycles are due to the change in the Earth’s tilt, WHICH CURRENTLY IS DECLINING NEAR ITS MAXIMUM RATE (in another 10,000 years the tilt will be minimal, warming the equatorial oceans and increasing the ice in the outer regions of the Temperate Zones). Right now data shows increasing warmth in equatorial waters. As they warm, the increase in evaporation will cause more rain and snow in the Temperate Zones. There will be warming closer to and in the Equatorial Zone and more storms and cooling in the outer Temperate Zones farther from the Equator. But there are temporary warming and cooling effects due to the interacting cycles. THE BEST ADVICE NOW IS TO MOVE FARTHER SOUTH IF YOU LIVE IN THE NORTHERN U.S. OR CANADA, BUT DON’T GET TOO CLOSE TO THE GULF OF MEXICO. Cheers, CGL, Ph.D.
