Pence: “It’s Time for Mueller to Wrap It Up”

In an interview with NBC News on the heels of the U.S. welcoming home three citizens released from North Korean custody on Thursday, Vice President Mike Pence said that it was time for special counsel Robert Mueller to bring his investigation to a close.

“In the interests of the country,” Pence said, “I think it’s time to wrap it up.”

Pence insisted that everyone in the Trump administration had “fully cooperated” with the special counsel’s investigation – a process that has included turning over more than a million documents to Mueller and his goon squad of Democrats.

“I would very respectfully encourage the special counsel and his team to bring their work to completion,” Pence said.

What, and leave the Democrats with nothing to hang over Trump as they head into their midterm campaigns? What does Pence think this is – a legitimate investigation of a crime? What’s the crime? Who are the suspects? Where is the evidence? These questions have not been and will not be answered by the Mueller team because they HAVE no answers. This is a witch hunt, which presumes that someone is guilty of something. In this instance, it presumes that Trump is guilty of colluding with Moscow during the 2016 election (and also that he is guilty of obstructing the phony investigation after becoming president.)

There is no evidence of any of this. Mueller won’t even come out and admit that these are the crimes he is investigating because he knows that he won’t be able to prove his case. He wants to keep his inquiry open-ended and vague, so that he can snoop in every corner and interview everyone that Trump ever had contact with and charge people with crimes that are so far removed from his mandated scope that it makes a mockery of the Constitution.

But what makes this transcend mere absurdity and become actual farce is the fact that Mueller does not have the authority to bring an indictment against a sitting president. He knows it, his team of Democrat lawyers know it, and Trump knows it. The fact that this outcome is not merely unlikely but constitutionally impossible reveals the truth, which is that Mueller is doing all of this on behalf of congressional Democrats. It’s political. It’s intended to give Democrats something to run on and, if feasible, something with which to pursue impeachment proceedings.

The Senate is apparently getting ready to consider a bill that would protect Robert Mueller from being fired by President Trump. If the Republicans in that hallowed chamber really wanted to do this country a favor, they would scrap that bill and draft one protecting the Constitution from Robert Mueller.
