Please Stop: Nancy Pelosi Says Capitol Rioters Chose “Whiteness Over Democracy”

Leave it to the deranged Democrats to let America know that they hold very little moral high ground, even during a week that saw Trump supporters storm Capitol Hill. This political victory was handed to them on a silver platter, and yet they can’t go a single week without reminding everyone that the core of their party is still controlled by what can only be described as a mad cult: The Cult of Wokeness.

There were so many things that could have been said about Wednesday’s events (and at this point, we’re pretty sure we’ve heard them all). So, out of all available options – ranging from wisdom to reasonable condemnation – why would House Speaker Nancy Pelosi use this unchallenged platform to spew nonsense that should have never left the back halls of academia?

“It has been an epiphany for the world to see that there are people in our country led by this president, for the moment, who have chosen their Whiteness over democracy,” the speaker said.

Seriously? This is the best you could come up with, Nancy? Given an enormous canvas with which to (if just for the moment) unite Americans and rightly criticize what happened on Wednesday, you instead decided to sound like Robin DiAngelo?

And she wasn’t even done: “When that assault was taking place on the Capitol, 3,865 people in our country died of the coronavirus, many of them people of color because of the injustice of it all. The next day, on Thursday, 4,000 people died of the coronavirus. Why? Because decisions were made at the highest level, months before in the Oval Office, of denial, distortion, delay, calling it a ‘hoax.’”

Again – perhaps there is a point to be made in what she’s saying, but why this part: “…many of them people of color because of the injustice of it all”? Who is she talking to? Who is she talking about? Who advised her on this message, which seems tailor-made to remind voters…”Oh, right, this is why I can never support this party.”

The events of Wednesday reminded us of that famous quote from Cool Hand Luke: “What we have here is a failure to communicate.” It is the responsibility of our leaders – from Trump to Pelosi to Biden to anyone else in elected office – to remedy that failure, restore trust in our government institutions, and let Americans know that sanity and reason will govern their actions from here on out.

Sadly (but not surprisingly), it appears that they’re going to take a pass.
