Scientist “Proves” That White Conservatives Are Racist
If you were hoping that the impending end of Barack Obama’s presidency would finally silence the liberals who think his critics are racist, then you’re probably bound for disappointment. In fact, Obama’s supporters are done making sweeping assertions based on their own personal feelings. Now they have SCIENCE on their side!
Roll up your pant legs; it’s about to get deep in here.
According to a new story in the Washington Post, a Stanford sociologist named Robb Willer has “proven” that white opposition to Obama is based on his skin color:
First, the researchers randomly sorted subjects into two groups and showed them a series of pictures of celebrities, including digitally altered images of the commander in chief. One group saw a version in which Obama’s skin had been lightened, while in the other version, his skin had been darkened.
Willer asked each group if they supported the tea party. He found that white participants who had been shown the darkened Obama photo were nearly twice as likely to express support for the movement.
In another experiment, Willer showed two groups differing projections of America’s demographic trends. One showed the white population remaining stable, and the other showed whites declining into minority status by the 21st century’s midpoint. The researchers found that whites shown the second report were also somewhat more likely to support the tea party movement.
So yeah. Proof.
For a moment, let’s pretend like we aren’t aware that scientific studies can be bent to give you any result you want to find. Let’s also pretend that outlets like the Washington Post don’t regularly misstate scientific findings for the sake of promoting a political agenda (or just for the sake of attracting readers). Let’s pretend that sociology is comparable to hard science, and let’s pretend that this study in particular is indisputably accurate.
You don’t need a scientific study to prove that blacks were much more likely to vote for Barack Obama because of his skin color, do you? The fact that he drew record numbers of African-Americans to the polls speaks for itself. Where were the elitist thinkers back then? Why weren’t they frowning over the disturbing implications of a movement influenced by racial solidarity?
It wasn’t like they tried to sweep it under the rug. They celebrated it! They thought it was terrific! But somehow, if whites are even suspected of similar psychology, it’s a sign that our country is headed back to the days of slavery.
Our politically correct society won’t even allow this sort of thought into the mainstream conversation. And so liberals are free to make endlessly slanderous statements about white conservatives, and white conservatives are left with nothing more to say than, “Nuh-uh!” Anyone who comes within a thousand miles of “white nationalist” thinking is written off as a modern Klansman.
All right, pretend time is over.
Willer’s study appears to have about as much scientific validity as your drunk uncle’s Thanksgiving ramblings. If a similar study “proved” something unfavorable to liberals, it would either be ignored by the Washington Post or ripped to shreds by journalists masquerading as peer reviewers. And until enough people get fed up with the intellectual dishonesty infecting the media, things will never change.
