Socialism for Kids: Teen Vogue Advocates for Abolishing Private Property
In a recent column for online magazine Teen Vogue, writer Kandist Mallett told her teenage audience that it’s time for the United States to move beyond the racist institution of *checks notes* owning a home.
In the piece, which was slammed by Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) as a blatant slab of “Marxist propaganda,” Mallett said that the coronavirus pandemic has shown us that it’s time to abolish private property and provide free housing for all Americans.
“It’s been four months since the onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic first highlighted the failures of capitalism and the incompetence of the United States government,” Mallett wrote.
Mallett admits that the federal government is largely incompetent, which is a perfect reason to expand it to unprecedented proportions. Makes perfect sense.
She went on to note that many COVID-displaced workers are having a difficult time making rent.
“The pandemic didn’t create this housing crisis, but it did further expose the cruelty of payment-based housing,” she wrote. “Wages that have remained stagnant while rent prices ballooned, especially over the last two decades, have meant millions of Americans have been living one disaster away from being unable to afford their rent.”
Mallett said that politicians are sitting in their ivory towers while the rest of America struggles to make ends meet. Which, sure, there is a bit of truth to that. But you don’t need to look very closely at nations that have tried this Marxist structure to see that the divide between the political and public classes doesn’t vanish in the absence of capitalism. If anything, it grows wider than ever. Human nature and the internal quest for power, money, and adoration doesn’t disappear just because you organize a society in such a way that those qualities are discouraged. Suppressing reality doesn’t change it.
But of course, all of this inequality is due to America’s uniquely-evil history.
“The Constitution was created by landowning white men, who were the only people who could vote for decades after this country’s founding,” she wrote. “This legacy still guides the government’s funding priorities.”
“We should cancel rent outright as this pandemic rages, and we should work toward a world where landlords no longer hold this sort of power over people’s lives,” she advised. “This movement should be a rejection of the construct that any one person should own this earth’s land.”
Surely there is a deserted island out there somewhere that the U.S. can buy and give to all of these social justice hippies. It would be worth the expense to give these morons an “autonomous zone” in the middle of the Pacific. Not only would it get them out of our hair, it would give us (another) terrific lesson in the fatal flaws of commie ideology.
