Trump: Comey Belongs in Jail, Not on a Book Tour

President Donald Trump blasted former FBI Director James Comey for the second time this week in a barrage of tweets Sunday morning, hours ahead of the latter’s highly-publicized ABC interview with George Stephanopoulos. Comey, whose book “A Higher Loyalty” is set to be released on Tuesday, will reportedly tell the nation that Trump reminded him of a “mob boss” during his short tenure at the FBI under Trump’s command.

The president has made no secret of his disdain for Comey, and if there was any doubt about the way he felt about the former FBI director’s book, he laid those doubts to rest with his fiery criticism this weekend.

“Unbelievably,” he wrote, “James Comey states that polls, where Crooked Hillary was leading, were a factor in the handling (stupidly) of the Clinton Email probe. In other words, he was making decisions based on the fact that he thought she was going to win, and he wanted a job. Slimeball!”

In his book, Comey writes that he waffled on the decision to inform Congress that the FBI was re-initiating the investigation into Hillary’s private email server after additional emails were discovered on the laptop of Huma Abedin’s husband, Anthony Weiner. He said that he went forward with the decision to notify Congress, partly because he was under the assumption that Clinton would win the election and he didn’t want lawmakers later asking him why he withheld the information until after election day.

“The big questions in Comey’s badly reviewed book aren’t answered like, how come he gave up Classified Information (jail), why did he lie to Congress (jail), why did the DNC refuse to give Server to the FBI (why didn’t they TAKE it), why the phony memos,” Trump tweeted. “I never asked Comey for Personal Loyalty. I hardly even knew this guy. Just another of his many lies. His ‘memos’ are self serving and FAKE!”

In a final tweet, President Trump wrote: “Comey throws AG Lynch ‘under the bus!’ Why can’t we all find out what happened on the tarmac in the back of the plane with Wild Bill and Lynch? Was (Lynch) promised a Supreme Court seat, or AG, in order to lay off Hillary. No golf and grandkids talk (give us all a break)!”

Well, if anyone was really hoping to get the full inside scoop about the Clinton investigation from Comey, you probably should have saved your money on his book. Something tells us that we’ll ultimately get the truth about that tarmac meeting and the rest of the politically-motivated lawlessness that governed that investigation, but it won’t come from anyone in the senior leadership of the Obama administration. It’ll come out from some Judicial Watch FOIA request in five or ten years, long after the public has moved on. And when that day comes, we won’t be shocked to find that the corruption went much higher than Comey or even Loretta Lynch. If Comey is a slimeball, we’re willing to bet that the slime trail led all the way into the Obama White house.
