Trump: Fake BuzzFeed Story a “Disgrace to Our Country”

0

In a blistering rebuke of BuzzFeed’s fake news story about Michael Cohen and the Mueller investigation, President Trump said Saturday that it only confirmed that the media was increasingly “the enemy of the people.”

“I think that the BuzzFeed piece was a disgrace to our country. It was a disgrace to journalism, and I think also that the coverage by the mainstream media was disgraceful, and I think it’s going to take a long time for the mainstream media to recover its credibility,” Trump said. “It’s lost tremendous credibility. And believe me, that hurts me when I see that.”

Under normal circumstances, the president is often guilty of using exaggeration to make his point. In this instance, however, Trump’s words understate the situation to a considerable degree. What BuzzFeed (and to no small extent, their parrots in the rest of the liberal media) did this weekend put the final nail in the coffin of the mainstream political press. This was an embarrassment of historic proportions, laying bare the motivations of not just BuzzFeed, but every other “Get Trump” news organization on cable, in print, and online.

Trump said it would take a long time for the media to recover its credibility? Well, the problem is…they don’t seem to have any interest in regaining that lost trust. While many news organizations (after splling gallons of ink and wasting hours of television time promoting the BuzzFeed story) chastised the online outlet after Mueller corrected the record, others actually had the audacity to turn on Mueller himself. As if it is Robert Mueller’s job to defend the lying media! This is how out-of-control the media’s martyrdom complex has gotten. They actually think that any attack on them – including a simple “yeah, this story is bogus” statement – is some kind of war against the free press. How delusional do you have to be?

But then again, they aren’t delusional. Or at least, that’s not the primary problem. They are simply trying to brainwash Americans into believing that they are the guardians of truth, justice, and the American way. Take what we say to the bank, because we would never lie to you, they are saying.

And then they lie some more.
