Uh-Oh: Elizabeth Warren Can’t Live Up To Her Own Wokeness
According to a new story from Politico, a half-dozen minority women have walked off the job in Nevada, fed up with the way they’ve been treated by Elizabeth Warren’s campaign staff in the state. The women spoke up this week, telling the press that they felt as though they were only employed to give the staff some token color.
While denying that they wanted to hurt Warren’s presidential candidacy by coming forward, their testimony can’t help but cast doubts on the Massachusetts senator’s professed loyalty to identity politics and all the wokeness that entails. Is she a true believer, or is she just pandering for votes? – Enquiring minds want to know!
A half-dozen women of color have departed Elizabeth Warren’s Nevada campaign in the run-up to the state’s caucuses with complaints of a toxic work environment in which minorities felt tokenized and senior leadership was at loggerheads.
The six staffers have left the roughly 70-person Nevada team since November, during a critical stretch of the race. Three of them said they felt marginalized by the campaign, a situation they said didn’t change or worsened after they took their concerns to their superiors or to human resources staff.
“During the time I was employed with Nevada for Warren, there was definitely something wrong with the culture,” said Megan Lewis, a field organizer who joined the campaign in May and departed in December. “I filed a complaint with HR, but the follow-up I received left me feeling as though I needed to make myself smaller or change who I was to fit into the office culture.”
Asked about the report on MSNBC Thursday, Warren fell back on the safe, comfortable language of identity politics.
“I believe these women without any equivocation, and I apologize personally that they had a bad experience on the campaign,” Warren said. “I’m aware that racism and oppression in this country have left a long legacy and it creates the kind of toxicity where power structures people take advantage of other people. It’s something for which we have to be constantly vigilant and constantly determined to do better. I take responsibility for this and I’m working with my team to address these concerns.”
Why not just come out and say, hey, these women are out to lunch and think they’re entitled to an unearned position in my campaign because they happen to be people of color? None of them, after all, really have any specific charges to bring against the campaign. Why give their reports this much credence?
But of course we know why, and it’s the same reason that progressives are always, always, always the ones to get hung out to dry by their own ludicrous theories of social oppression. Let’s face it: When you’re out there saying that you’re going to have a random “trans child” vet your Secretary of Education, you leave yourself open to this kind of attack. No one – literally on the planet – is THAT woke.
Warren’s SJW pandering is an insult to America’s intelligence and could even result in a national security threat if she were elected president.
In the meantime, she’s just another white liberal in danger of getting canceled.
