A Hispanic activist group calling themselves Deport Racism is offering $5,000 to any audience member who interrupts Donald Trump’s Saturday Night Live hosting gig.
“NBC’s refusal to drop Trump has put us in the position of dropping $5,000 of cold hard cash to anyone who will yell out ‘Trump is a racist’ during the live broadcast,” said Santiago Cejudo, one of the PAC’s organizers.
Before we get into this, NBC’s hypocrisy here has to be noted. This is a company that publicly denounced Trump this summer, severed ties with him, and distanced themselves as far as they could from his comments on illegal immigration. But now that they see an opportunity to exploit Trump’s popularity for a ratings boost, they seem to have forgotten all of those lofty ethical principles. Funny how that works.
And apparently these Hispanic groups have noticed that people will do anything for a buck. But doesn’t it undermine your message a little? If someone does interrupt the SNL broadcast on Saturday, we’ll know that they only did it to line their pockets with that “cold hard cash.” Not exactly Rosa Parks we’re talking about here.
The group also released a disturbing video showing two kids – Ricardo and Rosa – unleashing a foul-mouthed torrent of insults on the real estate magnate. “Republicans use offensive words,” one of the kids say in the video. “So here’s a few of our own: F**k you, you racist f**k!”
Who thought this was a good idea? Isn’t the whole idea to prove that illegal immigrants add something valuable to America’s cultural fabric? Are they really going to change hearts and minds by showing that anchor babies grow up to be disrespectful, anti-law brats?
This controversy is not about whites vs. browns, no matter how much they want to turn it into that. It’s a sign of how ignorant Democrats are that they can fall for these racist fairy tales.
The American melting pot needs stirring. This push for a compartmentalized collection of ethnic enclaves is dangerous. No, you’ll never eliminate racial divisions, but we should all embrace out American identities over our ethnic background. And that means that no ethnicity should want to see our country’s laws bring broken by outsider forces. What difference does it make what color their skin happens to be?
