Thanks to a morning radio show in Indiana, we’re getting our first look at the next Advanced Placement U.S. History Book to hit high schools around the country. The book, written by James Fraser and published by Pearson, is titled, “By the People: A History of the United States, 2nd Edition” and is scheduled to come out soon.
The reason the new edition of the book is noteworthy is that it not only continues Pearson’s relentless preference for filling their history books with liberal nonsense but actually goes further into partisan propaganda than any recent volume. In the book, the author – speaking as though he is simply conveying testable facts to the curious student – goes on a one-man crusade against President Donald Trump and his historic 2016 election victory. In the process, Fraser manages to insult Republicans, whites, Christians, and anyone else who voted for Trump.
“Most thought that Trump was too extreme a candidate to win the nomination, but his extremism, his anti-establishment rhetoric, and, some said, his not-very-hidden racism connected with a significant number of primary voters – more voters than any other single Republican candidate,” Fraser informs young readers.
And so yeah, he uses some pretty blatant weasel words there to make it seem as though he’s just handing over the facts, but that doesn’t relieve him of any responsibility over what he’s selling. As Wikipedia might say: Citation needed. And no, we’re not denying that you can find anyone that said that Trump used racism to win the election, but we are questioning whether that’s the narrative that a supposedly fact-based history book should be pushing onto impressionable high school students. Or is it, perhaps, just one side of the story?
Well, that’s the only side of the story Fraser is interested in. To hear it from him, Trump’s voters were comprised of a “mostly older, often rural or suburban, and overwhelmingly white group” while Clinton’s voters were nervous that “the election had been determined by people who were afraid of a rapidly developing ethnic diversity of the country, discomfort with their candidate’s gender, and nostalgia for an earlier time in the nation’s history.”
Oh and “they were also worried about the mental stability of the president-elect and the anger that he and his supporters brought to the nation.”
At its heart, this book is as much about adding another chapter to the left’s “Demonizing White America” storyline as it is about trashing Donald Trump. But the more we watch the crusade against him and his supporters, the more we’re convinced that these two motives are one in the same. The disdain on the left for everything traditional, everything white, everything Christian, everything family, and everything American is not coincidental. It permeates everything they say and every product they produce. That this weird, racist propaganda is often of the self-loathing variety just makes it all the more sick. And now, apparently, our brightest high school students are getting indoctrinated with this garbage even before they spin off into some communist’s college classroom.
It’s enough to make you wonder how many more Miracles of 2016 this country’s electorate has left in it.
