Ashley Judd has “Scary” Encounter with a Trump Supporter
When ranking Hollywood liberals on the Scale of Annoyance, Ashley Judd is never far from the top five. With a mouth that far exceeds her political knowledge (to say nothing of her fame), Judd has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, going as far as to tell Women’s Marchers that she could feel the “presence of Hitler” in the D.C. air.
Now Judd is making noise again, this time about an “uncomfortable and scary” encounter she had with a Trump supporter at a recent University of Wildcats basketball game. She wrote about the incident on her Facebook page this weekend, and, let’s just say: The dramatic essay is so absurdly out of proportion to the encounter she describes that it almost feels like satire. But knowing Judd as we do, we have no doubt she meant every word.
“An older man with white hair came up to me at my seat today at a basketball game,” Judd wrote. “He said ‘May I take your picture?’ I said ‘Yes.’ And before I could offer for him to be in the picture with me, 6 inches from my face, he took my picture with his phone. He said ‘I’m from Big Stone gap.’ I said, ‘I love Big Stone Gap! What a beautiful town, I loved making the movie there.’ I went on to say how good the cooking is, mentioning, of course, the pineapple upside down cake and pumpkin pie!”
Judd said she was gearing up for some more small talk when the conversation took a turn for the horrific.
“He said to me with open hostility as he was backing away, ‘We like Trump,’ she wrote.
Then he pulled out a revolver and told her to pledge allegiance to the Trump administration.
No, he spat in her face and told her that she’d better watch her back if she ever found herself back in Big Stone Gap.
No, he…
…he…
Oh, that’s the end of the story. That’s all that happened. He took her picture, said “we like Trump,” and walked away. How did Judd even manage to type out this essay, only hours after suffering that kind of intense trauma?
“I feel very sad that this happened, and frankly scared,” she wrote. “We absolutely need apolitical spaces in this country where we come together for something that is beyond who voted for whom and the platforms, beliefs, and agendas of respective candidates.”
If Judd had left it at that, her essay might be tolerable. The guy does sound like he was being a bit of an ass…even if we can’t blame a Kentucky good ol’ boy for thumbing his nose at a stuck-up Hollywood elitist liberal. When else would you ever get the chance, after all? But sure, if she wanted to ask her haters to leave her alone at the basketball games, fair enough.
But she can’t resist using the rest of her post to fantasy-argue with the guy, saying all the things she “could’ve easily” said at the time. Of course, she’s far too good a person to have retorted caustically to the man’s face. Instead, she’ll just blast him for millions of people to read on the internet. What a sweet girl.
At no point does she admit that liberals are guilty of bringing politics into “neutral” spaces at a much greater rate than conservatives, by the way.
And, you know, if this harrowing incident is the biggest price Judd has to pay for being a rich, liberal actor, then we guess we’ll have to go to the Sympathy Store, because the shelves are pretty bare.
