(FixThisNation.com) – Former Attorney General Bill Barr stated that even if former President Donald Trump ends up facing an indictment in connection to the hush money payment in the New York state criminal case, his most serious legal troubles could still be ahead of him and would relate to the federal investigation looking into his mishandling of classified documents.

During an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Barr claimed that the classified document case “is the most serious” one. He further added that what is important about that case is that he does not believe that they were directly targeting Trump with this case, but rather that they instead just wanted to get the documents back.

Barr, who served as Trump’s chief law enforcement official from 2019 to 2020, spoke about the differences between the classified documents case which he has deemed as important, and the case that Trump has been indicted which he referred to as political prosecution. He added that based on the information that they currently have it clearly appears that the case in New York is politically motivated. He further argued that this was why he believed that the American people considered this to be a case where they were “pursuing a person rather than pursuing a real crime.”

However, he claimed that the Department of Justice’s investigation into the classified documents found in Trump’s possession was a legitimate investigation. The case relates to the hundreds of documents recovered from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate this last summer, which date back to his time at the Oval Office.
