Bernie Sanders is Essentially Paying Americans to Vote for Him

Oh, the plight of Bernie Sanders. In 2016, he was a novel phenomenon, railing against the rich and powerful and introducing a new term – “democratic socialism” – into most Americans’ vocabulary for the first time. He was the far leftist to end all far leftists, promising free this and free that in an attempt to make Hillary Clinton look like the stodgy old establishment crony that she is.

He garnered surprisingly wild popularity, particularly among white northern college students who couldn’t get enough of his revolutionary attitude. And while he couldn’t quite bring home the Democratic nomination, he earned himself a rock solid place in the party’s future (even though he himself is not actually a Democrat).

Fast forward four years, and things have changed a bit.

These days, Crazy Bernie doesn’t look all that crazy anymore. Not because he’s changed his mind and adopted a reasonable view of American capitalism (well, except as it pertains to his own millions…) but because the rest of the Democratic Party has followed him down the Marxist rabbit hole. Granted, they didn’t need much of a push. Still, the effect has been to turn Sanders into little more than just another face in the crowd – and this is an awfully big crowd. He’s holding his own in the polls, but he’s trailing Joe Biden badly and he’s beginning to lose ground to Elizabeth Warren. What can a socialist do to remind America that HE is the grandest leftist of them all?

From the Washington Post:

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will propose on Monday eliminating all $1.6 trillion of student debt held in the United States, a significant escalation of the policy fight in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary two days before the candidates’ first debate in Miami.

Sanders is proposing the federal government pay to wipe clean the student debt held by 45 million Americans — including all private and graduate school debt — as part of a package that also would make public universities, community colleges and trade schools tuition-free.

Sanders is proposing to pay for these plans with a tax on Wall Street his campaign says will raise more than $2 trillion over 10 years, though some tax experts give lower revenue estimates.

Sanders will be joined Monday by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), who will introduce legislation in the House to eliminate all student debt in the United States, as well as Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, who has championed legislation to make public universities tuition-free.

Yes siree, he’s joining forces with Miss Anti-American herself to give away ALL the stuff! And why not? It just means hiking taxes on those good-for-nothing Wall Street types. Those people don’t matter to the economy!

At this point, Bernie ought to just cut out the middle man and promise to pay each and every American who votes for him a handsome sum straight out of the treasury. Because by the end of this bruising primary process, it may less expensive than his exorbitant socialist promises.
