(FixThisNation.com) – The Republicans have finally managed to elect the next House Speaker after the 15th ballot. Biden called the chaos that ended with Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) winning the Speakership early on Saturday morning “embarrassing.” He further added that this presented a bad view of the country to the rest of the world. Still, Democratic strategists and even White House officials consider the chaos caused by the GOP a wonderful opportunity to showcase the differences between the two parties as Biden starts to prepare for his reelection campaign.

Matt Bennett, a co-founder of the think tank Third Way, said that when you see your opposition on fire you don’t want to “hand them a hose.” He added that he thought it was a good move for the White House to keep its distance from this entire situation. He further argued that it would be easy for Democrats to argue that the other side is not serious or responsible in how they handle governing. This latest incident could be used as a clear representation of that. Pairing that with the fact that their focus is on impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and investigating Joe Biden’s son and the case about them being irresponsible in how they govern becomes easy to make.

For the first time in a century, the House failed to elect a speaker on the first ballot. McCarthy had been struggling to gain the support of many of the GOP holdouts that were opposing him. On the other side, Democrats remained firmly behind Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.). McCarthy managed to eventually win the required votes to become the Speaker after days of negative headlines about his party.
