Biden Delusional About Polls
President Joe Biden lashed out in response against a poll saying that a large majority of Democrats don’t want him to run for re-election in 2024 and would rather have a different presidential nominee.
Biden made the comments in response to a question by a reporter Tuesday after the White House Congressional Picnic.
“Mr. President, what’s your message to Democrats who don’t want you to run again?” asked the reporter.
“They want me to run,” he claimed and confronted the reporter.
“Read the polls. Read the polls, Jack!” he added. “You guys are all the same. That poll showed that 92% of Democrats if I ran would vote for me.”
Biden was referring to a poll from the New York Times/Siena College that found 92% of Democrats would vote for him if he ran against former President Donald Trump and if the election were today.
Unfortunately for Biden, the same poll had other results that were far less favorable to him.
The poll found that 64% of Democrat primary voters said they preferred a candidate other than Biden run in 2024, while only 26% said he should be the nominee in a re-election campaign.
Top of mind for those voters opposed to Biden was his age at 79 years old.
On Monday, the progressive activist group RootsAction said it would actively campaign against the nomination of Biden based on his lack of performance in the Oval Office.
“Unfortunately, President Biden has been neither bold nor inspiring. And his prospects for winning re-election appear to be bleak. With so much at stake, making him the Democratic Party’s standard-bearer in 2024 would be a tragic mistake,” RootsAction said in a scathing statement.
Not all of the results from the Siena College poll were bad news for Biden. In a hypothetical matchup between Biden and Trump, the poll found that Biden would win by three percentage points, 44% to 41%.
