(FixThisNation.com) – Canada Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly in a recent interview claimed that her country was preparing a “game plan” for the possibility that the U.S. was going to shift to the far-right after the 2024 presidential election.

In 2015, Joly was elected as a House of Commons representative for the Ahuntsic-Cartierville region of Canada. She is now serving as the foreign affairs minister of the country and the World Economic Forum has named her as a young global leader. Politico in late 2022 also published a piece in which they referred to Joly as “Trudeau protégé” and predicted that she was likely going to have his job in the future.

National Post, a Canadian news website, in a piece written by Dylan Robertson commented on the controversial remarks made by Joly. As they pointed out, Joly in an interview on Wednesday had stated in French that they were working on possible scenarios. She added that they cooperate with everyone in the country in order to prepare for any possible outcome of the 2024 presidential election.

In the same interview Joly pointed out that the most important thing was to determine what would happen to their own country’s economy and how they would be able to stop the growth of the far-right in Canada. As she pointed out the far-right had been gaining traction in both the United States and Europe. She added that there was no space for one to be “naïve” and that this was happening right now and that there was a “radicalization of the [Canadian] Conservative Party.”
