CNN Gives Donna Brazile the Boot For Debate Cheating
CNN announced this week that they had severed ties with contributor Donna Brazile, who is currently serving as the interim chair of the Democratic National Committee. The network, which placed Brazile on leave when she took the position at the DNC, said they were “completely uncomfortable” with the WikiLeaks revelation that Brazile had been giving Hillary Clinton debate questions in advance back in the Democratic primaries.
“We are completely uncomfortable with what we have learned about her interactions with the Clinton campaign while she was a CNN contributor,” said a network spokesperson. “CNN never gave Brazile access to any questions, prep material, attendee list, background information or meetings in advance of a town hall or debate.”
The announcement came as a result of two emails found in the inbox of John Podesta, Hillary’s campaign chairman. In both, Brazile provided a sneak peek at questions that would be asked at forthcoming CNN-sponsored debates. “From time to time, I get the questions in advance,” Brazile wrote in one of the emails.
In that one, Brazile shared a question that a town hall participant would be asking about Hillary’s stance on the death penalty. In another, she shared a question that was expected about the water in Flint, Michigan. Both questions wound up appearing on the broadcasts themselves, though not word-for-word in the way Brazile shared them.
When the first of the emails was revealed, Brazile claimed they were doctored and even went as far as to insinuate she was being “persecuted” as a “Christian woman,” which has to go down as one of the most laughable quotes of 2016.
Even now, with the evidence of her wrongdoing beyond dispute, Brazile refuses to take accountability for her actions.
“I am not going to verify, deny, confirm or even try to make sense out of stolen emails that were hacked,” she said this week. “It’s like you get hit three times. You get hit with the hack, with the fact that your information has been stolen, and then you get hit with trying to make sense of the nonsense.”
Aw. Poor woman.
At a rally in Michigan on Monday, Donald Trump said, “Speaking of draining the swamp, Donna Brazile did it again,” he said. “She gave the questions to a debate to Hillary Clinton.”
But Trump reminded supporters that the real problem wasn’t Brazile; it was Hillary Clinton. “Why didn’t she report it?” he asked.
