Could Gay Marriage Split the GOP Going into 2016?

After stunning the country by refusing to hear same-sex marriage appeals on Monday, the Supreme Court essentially legalized the practice in several states where lower court rulings were waiting in limbo. Conservatives worry that this de facto ruling could lead to a serious fracture in the Republican Party.

The first Republican to lash out against the party is former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, one of the potential frontrunners when it comes to the 2016 presidential elections. He took to the American Family Association’s radio show “Today’s Issues” to issue a threat to party leadership.

“I am utterly exasperated with Republicans and the so-called leadership of the Republicans, who have abdicated on this issue,” Huckabee said. “If the Republicans want to lose guys like me and a whole bunch of still God-fearing and Bible-believing people just go ahead and abdicate on this issue. And while you are at it, go ahead and say abortion doesn’t matter either because at that point you lose me.”

Huckabee went on to say he would have no problem dropping the (R) from his name and going independent if Republicans decide to drop the issue of gay marriage from their national platform. “I am tired of this.”

The Great GOP Split

Huckabee’s comments highlight a political split that has been evident for several years in the Republican Party. Many party faithful think it’s time to leave these social issues behind, seeing them as lost causes that are only serving to hold the GOP back. Others insist that social issues are the foundation of conservatism, and that a Republican Party unwilling to stand against liberal takeover is not much of a representative.

It’s an issue with no easy fix. Clearly, the tide is turning when it comes to national opinions on gay marriage. A recent poll showed that 56% of Republicans under the age of 40 support equal marriage rights for gays and lesbians. On the other hand, Huckabee may be right when he says that Republicans risk losing social conservatives if they abandon the fight. Either scenario could see the GOP struggle to win national elections, which is what makes the situation so frustrating.

For now, the Republican Party’s official position is in favor of defining marriage as between a man and a woman. However, there is a gulf between what happens to be written in the bylaws and what is being said in public. Even Michelle Bachmann, a Republican politician who has spoken out vehemently on conservative social issues, has said she believes it’s a dead topic. “It’s boring,” she said earlier this year.

In the end, a fracture of some significance may be inevitable. The conservative youth movement is focused on libertarian principles, largely abandoning the social conservatism of old. The Tea Party, likewise, is much more focused on taxes and immigration than it is a message of faith and traditional values. It is perhaps sad to see the Mike Huckabees of the party be relegated to the backburner, but electability will inevitably be seen as more important than ideological adherence.

And if the split leads us to a multi-party system in the years to come, perhaps that’s not the worst thing for the country. If there’s one thing we could definitely use on a national level, it’s politicians willing to stake out their own territory. The further we move from monolithic, “platform” politics, the closer we’ll be to a true representative democracy. And the closer we come to re-affirming state’s rights when it comes to issues across the board, the better off the country will be.

  1. Charles Hargrave says

Gay marriage won’t split the GOP but it will split or destroy America, and that will happen through the anger and judgement from God who has always protected this country because we put our trust in him to guide us and we have prospered but now we have the worst President in the history of our country and he and the Supreme Court are sending us in the wrong direction away from God and we will pay the price if we don’t change and elect a real leader instead of a self centered pea brain like Obama,Hillary will be a White version of him,a repeat of his destructive policies and the total destrution of America.

    1. Mark Clemens says

Maybe Obama is a dark version of Hillary………

      1. atchafa says

Saul Alinsky cloaned Obama and Hillary

        1. Mark Clemens says

That’s why I’m against cloaning. We have more than enough stupid in play already!!

          1. Zip says

          2. Mark Clemens says

            ………Yea, that stuff too.

        2. WhiteFalcon says

As I remember, Hillary and Saul Alinski were actually buds. She idolized him. That kind of tells you all you need to know about her.

          1. Mark Clemens says

All I know is, Hillary wants to be president, because her husband was (girls can do what boys do politics). That has to be the sorriest reason for the job. Anyhow what’s she gonna do? Obama already ran her health care through congress. She has no clue how to fix the economy. We see how she handles Foreign Policy (What does it matter now?). The only real thing left for her would be a intern and a cigar……ewwwwww!!

          2. ihatelibs says

And , She STILL Squats to Piss . And HER Shit Stinks like everyone elses . LYIN LIB/DEM COMMIE BITCH

          3. Combatvet52 says

Did she ever go and visit the family’s of the four Americans that she is responsible for their DEATHS she thinks we are forgetting about that murder, there are stupid enough idiots out there to vote for this piece of TRASH.

          4. dondehoff says

“ihatelibs”, sir, keep it civil! Your language discredits both, you and the group(s) you profess to support. The Constitution, Federalist Papers and all of the courts refrain from profanity, obnoxious nicknames and gutter talk. I believe those groups intended to set both the tone and tenor for all political and legal discourse. Also, the First Amendment needs but a single word added to that profound edict—-“Civil”. That would not restrict anything being said, just “how” to say it. All too often, I see very good ideas, some even profound, and they all get overshadowed by the low-class and counter productive gutter talk. I admit, incorporation of my philosophy would make many commenters “tongue-tied”.

          5. Zip says

            Thank you for saying that.

          6. Betty M Scheef says

Thank you for your honesty and insight.

          7. stephanie wilson says

good point. i confess i do that too. guilty! i try so hard not to get down & dirty. its so hard!

          8. marshmil says

            Agree fully about the civility.

          9. yachty says

Yet, a recent Yale study found that people that used profanity were more honest! So, reading your posts, you must be very dishonest!

          10. dondehoff says

“yachty”, Sir, I ask “Google”, the simple question, “Yale University study on profanity”. There were several separate responses, but none documented what you stated. In fact Google indicated Yale had refused to participate in several issues due to profanity. If you have such a study, please provide the source. As for my honesty, I suggest a review of my several thousand posts on Disqus reveal I am a straightforward, died in the wool Republican and Constitutionalist. Among the “learned”, profanity, obnoxious nicknames and gutter talk is reserved to those who play the verbal game of off-subject “mental masturbation”. The Founding Fathers, Constitution, Bill of Rights, Federalist Papers and all of the courts refrain from such gutter talk, and I am sure they intended to set the tone and demeanor for all civil and legal discourse. Now, can we get back to the critical issues at hand?

          11. Betty M Scheef says

            Doesn’t help the cause

          12. 2399molly says

Hey she has reached the age of unreason. Look at our Supreme Court Judge. Both too old to enjoy life so they want to destroy ours.

          13. Mark Clemens says

What’s up with that old lady judge who wears the bib? Does she droll? Have sloppy table manners?

          14. mercurydeb says

Mr.Clemens, does this mean that you are, or will break the law for
enjoyment?? Now we know you are really a Progressive Liberal.
            Fie on thee, sir!!

          15. Mark Clemens says

            What are you talking about?

          16. taliesin319 says

From what we hear, Electing Hag Killary would saddle us with not one philandering womanizer, but two philandering womanizers. Enough to employ 3 dry cleaners just for the 2 of them.

          17. Mark Clemens says

If Hillary really cared about USA she would go back to Arkansas and hush up, or move to another country. I hear Cuba needs young communist leaders. We have more than we need here………

          18. taliesin319 says

Well, Hag is a lot of things but youth is a state she will never see again.
She might have a chance to teach the young in Cuba how to be Communists but I suspect that would be carrying coals to Newcastle and hauling owls to Athens, since the little mothers cut their teeth on Marx,Che and Mao. Maybe she will sit her arse in a rocking chair and read Alinsky to her little grandchild, while Chelsea takes over the Clinton reins and Bill sails the seas of concupiscence in good weather and bad.

          19. marshmil says

Let’s send ALL Lefists to Cuba, Russia, N. Korea and China.

          20. jcmoore2010 says

exactly, turned her mind full of mush into a card carrying socialist with a little smattering of communism for good measure…

      2. MarieJ27 says

You have no idea how dark Hillary is.

        1. ihatelibs says

          Wanna Bet , Marie ???

        2. Mark Clemens says

Her heart is blacker than the blackest night!
Nothing but self serving soul. Any how if Hillary isn’t elected President, What difference would it make?
In my opinion, a damn good difference! !

        3. Combatvet52 says

Pretty freaking DARK i would say she’s just as evil.

        4. msbets says

        5. mercurydeb says

That may be, but we HAVE seen how she refused
to act against the attackers in Benghazi !!

          1. Mark Clemens says

Obama probably gave them amnesty by now…….

          2. MarieJ27 says

I know George W. would have never turned his back on Benghazi or an Ambassador asking for protection? I wonder how Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi is doing this morning? I think of him all the time. But, the parents of Army Bowe Bergdahl didn’t have much to worry about since the president had their backs.

    2. Walt Kiefer says

Charles, You are EXACTLY RIGHT, and I fear for country’s future with the appointed and elected Judges who make laws rather than uphold our country’s Constitution and the citizens voices at the ballot box.

    3. Jimmy King says

Yes god’s anger is what’s destroying the country. you kooks really crack me up

      1. dondehoff says

“Jimmy”, no, it is NWO power, supported by greed and gross ignorance. You can rest assured your god does not get involved in your and your ilk’s, daily mundane and obscene tirades.

    4. Shosh 7154 says

Let’s pray: Most High G-d in the Name of Your Son Yeshua, please turn every heart in this country back to Your Son, back to Your Laws and Your guidance. Let no voice rise up in defiance of Your Word and send Your Word into every heart in this country to convict, to repentance, and to appealing to You Most High for mercy on us as sinners who desperately need YOU. In Yeshua the Messiah of Israel and the whole world, please hear this request and send Your word to heal, deliver and save everyone in this country. Thank You L-rd. Amein

      1. yachty says

Jesus is no Messiah of Israel! Christianity was stolen form the Egyptian Book of the Dead! If he ever existed he sure was no Messiah!

        1. Shosh 7154 says

yachty, I love this exchange. It’s a beautiful invitation to study the prophets of Israel and get to know personally the Person they describe. There is a fascinating verse that caught me off guard…I can put it in Hebrew as well so that the meaning will be clear. Psalms 45:7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

is G-d of You or Your G-d … the person doing the speaking is addressing G-d and the action of anointing is being conducted by G-d on the Person of G-d. As you know the ANOINTED ONE is MASHIACH.
I read the verses above it and below to clarify since I was stunned by this statement, but really G-d is plural throughout His Word… LET US create man in OUR IMAGE is clear about whose image, not the image of any created being but the image of G-d and G-d did not announce this statement (let’s create man) to His creation which obviously is not His image as in a monkey being the image of G-d … He announced it to Himself and then He very intimately brought the man in His own image to life by breathing His own breath into the man’s nostrils. I love the character of our G-d. He is truly alone in His perfection of beauty, He has no equal.

    5. Zip says

When my grandchildren ask me about the subject, I tell them this: I cannot obey all of the 10 commandments, even when I try very, very hard. But Jesus spoke of only two: Love the Lord Thy God with all your heart, soul and mind; and the second is like it: Love they neighbor as thyself. If I am unable to fulfill only the two commandments which Jesus told, then how can I justify focusing my mind on “Thou shalt not be gay, especially is you want to get married?”– and not on one of the 10 listed in the old testament.

    6. Marvin Bresler says

I agree with you totally, Charles. And frankly, any Republican who supports Gay marriage should
go ahead and accept the whole Democrat agenda – and get out of the Republican Party. If they can accept Gay Marriage, then in all probability, they agree with homosexuality, abortion, eliminating all Christian values, as well as all of the LIBERAL political issues. We do not need “Republicans” like that!!!!!

    7. Rick Rogers says

Charles you realize of course that the Supreme court your talking about was mostly pointed by Republican Presidents Right? As for the worst President your wrong by about 7 years. 7 years ago the worst president was in the White House. What you have now is The Worst CONGRESS in American History who’s Stated goal was to block anything the Current president wanted to accomplish even when a majority of Americans Favor those Items.

  2. Ken V says

Gays are an abomination and should not be allowed to stand, if they want to do this immoral crap, fine just don’t force it on the rest of us. If they want to go to Hell that’s their business.

    1. wfc says

so who is forcing you to turn gay?

      1. Mark Clemens says

The big dude in a dress w/a gun!!!!!

        1. Ken V says

You talking about Obama? Bath House Barry or his ugly tranny wife…..I think I will pass WFC on the other hand has probably already sucummed.

          1. Mark Clemens says

No, Bath House Barry just wears a flamingo pink towel………..

      2. Ken V says

        You must be queer wfc.

        1. wfc says

          1. Ken V says

            Naaoa. Probably reality.

          2. wfc says

          3. Ken V says

Go back in the damn closet where you belong.

          4. wfc says

good response – but I am not the one feeling endangered by someone sexuality – you seem to be very upset – maybe you are the one who should go back to the closet

          5. Ken V says

I’m not the homo here, but you seem to be.

          6. mac12sam12 says

            Ok guys!! Group hug!!

      3. MarieJ27 says

There is a gay social engineering going on in our government run public

        1. wfc says

not so sure that is the case – rather there is a movement to discourage the bigotry and gender baiting that is so prevalent in our schools today – and yesterday – your kids are a reflection of your values – teach them to be hateful – they respond with hate – teach them to be comfortable with who the are – then they reflect the same

          1. GoldenRudy says

Go visit one and see what books are available, are mandated to be available, to the young children, Pre-School thru 8th grade. If you don’t think there is an agenda, you are not watching and listening to what is going on around you. If toy are 25 years or older, the schools are not what you experienced. Why do you think the reason in growth of home-schooling and the new religious based schools are starting in areas around the country? Even when local school taxes are increasing in a concerted effort to force those alternatives out? Why do you think Obama wants “universal pre-school”? It will give the government sole and complete control of what is taught and what books are available to the youngsters.

          2. Mark Clemens says

I don’t think any sexual preference should be discussed in public schools. When it comes to our fun parts. The lessons should be limited to reproduction and keeping them clean, in good working order, and prevention of pregnancy and STD. That should be it, just the mechanics of it.

          3. wfc says

great – then they learn them on the street – what is better?

          4. Mark Clemens says

I’ve touched on 2 maybe 4 topics here. Could you be more specific on what you don’t want young teenage kids learning on the streets.

          5. jcmoore2010 says

it may be they are trying to educate to reduce bigotry that occurs, but the problem with this is that like so many things starting out as something good turns into a mandate that you must be like whatever you are learning…it is not particularly useful or effective as a teaching method. I mean its just like learning about mexican’s by having a mexican come in and speak…hello this is just stupid, stick to the history of the united states…this is not the history of understanding one person, it is the history of understanding the overall situation…out education worked for 100+ years and now all of a sudden we’ve been doing it wrong all these years, I say it is the parents of children that teach them bad behavior and bigotry that need to be educated not to pass on their bigotry to future generations.

          6. Billy says

You are also responsible for teaching your kids “RIGHT” from “WRONG”. Homosexuality is WRONG. There are laws against sodomy and the Bible says it is a sin. End of story.

          7. wfc says

and there are also references in the bible re slavery – so were we wrong to repeal that also?

          8. yachty says

Ok….85% of straight people practice Sodomy (sodomy includes oral sex) and 60% of heterosexual couples engage in Anal sex, while only 50% of homosexuals do! The Christian Bible says nothing, but if you are referring to the real Bible (The Torah) then it is a sin to wear clothing made of two textiles, eating bacon, eating shellfish and if your brother dies, you have to marry his widow. I can also have slaves and a number of wives. You are a sinner on way more levels than most homosexuals! Should we all stone people like you?

          9. dondehoff says

“Yachty”, I surely would like access to you “fact” resources. I surely am no expert in this area but I seen, quite some time ago, a lengthy study of male gays and it was clearly documented that annual sex was a essential “attraction”, for both, with one always being the dominate one and the other the “recipient”, with only a very few taking on interchanging rolls. (There must be a better way of saying that). I have personally observed that there always appears to be a dominate and dominated partner.

          10. MarieJ27 says

How ridicious to believe that 5 and 6 year olds are engaging in gender baiting and bigotry. Kids believe what their teachers say; I remember because I had 4 kids in the system. It reminds me of why Obama changed our health care system for the few and not the 85% of Americans who liked their health care.

          11. Wayne Thorson says

You are obviously not aware that 70% of the American people want Universal Health Ins. Obama asked the Republicans to come up with their own Insurance policy but none of them did. So what was he supposed to do?

          12. MarieJ27 says

of Americans enjoyed their company’s health insurance or private which I had for
many years. If there was a dispute about a claim, guess what? You could talk
to them in person or over the telephone. You will not have access to a faceless
bureaucrat. You will not have a choice of doctor or hospital. UK and Canada
have been trying to privatize parts of their socialist health care, but once you
lose your freedom, it is hard to get it back. Amen.

          13. Wayne Thorson says

85% of the people that voted against Obamacare was on a Republican site. Not a legally recognized site. If you went to apply for car ins. and you had a choice of your policy or one that no matter how many accidents you have had or will have your premiums will never go up and you won’t be kicked off your insurance wouldn’t you take it. Common sense tells you to take out this new policy. Especially if it included how many traffic tickets you have had or might get. Don’t try to sell me on your old policy

          14. MarieJ27 says

Listen, Wayne: I am not into socialstism or communism; both destroyers of economy and our country. The whistles and bells that Obama put on your family insurance policy is : read my lips, a transfer of wealth. I don’t want to pay for abortions, or someone who has decided to have children without a husband. Why should that penalize someone who is doing the right thing for their family & country? At my age, I drive very carefully, because I know the consequences of what that will bring to me; maybe eventually the lost of my license. Your post reads that no matter what you do in your life, you want the freedom to live fault free. You are the worse kind of liberal.

          15. Wayne Thorson says

All these things that you say you are against are here already. You can’t blame Obamacare for that. You think Obamacare is going to redistribute the wealth from the filthy rich to the middle class I can only hope so, but I doubt it. Since you don’t give a damn about other peoples wants and needs, I would like to know what church you go to? I would never want my minister hear me talk like you just did. I must have been talking way over your head when I compared Obamacare to buying car insurance. You just didn’t get the message. Go back and read my comment again and then answer the question which car insurance would you buy?

          16. MarieJ27 says

Obama was forced to sit down with the GOP just one time due to the promise to C-Span. Harry Reid and Polosi never looked at the Republicans at the table and all Obama had to say is that “he won the election” and he was going to do exactly what was right for him. Same as Obama inviting third world countries to come to America not because Americans wanted it to happen.

          17. Wayne Thorson says

You got that wronge. He did what the majority of the American people wanted. You don’t like what he did because you are part of the minority that voted against him.

          18. MarieJ27 says

No, you got that wrong. I read about his hippy mother who bounced him on her knee for a short while and then knew about the grandparents who were socialist. His hope and change is part of a communist slogan and sad to say that many Americans are now waking up to the real Obama. No one wants to be enslaved by their government, but too late, Obamacare is here to stay.

          19. Wayne Thorson says

I don’t know why you Republicans keep preaching gloom and doom after what we went through with the George W. administration. He did absolutly nothing for you or me and the average Joe. Everything he tried to do was for the fithy rich. All this do nothing Republican congress has attempted to do is the same as him.

          20. ipsd48 says

And suing businesses for refusing to compromise their religious beliefs will discourage bigotry how?

          21. jcmoore2010 says

no doubt…there are kids who sound like they came straight out of the eighties with their homophobia, etc…god, i thought we had left those idiots behind in california when we moved to texas back in 1985…

        2. Virginia Cavalier says

          Thank you, Mary!

        3. Jimmy King says

      4. MarieJ27 says

So if you feel like being gay, that’s ok with most people. But, be a man about it, Ken. Stop asking our government for special favors.

    2. yachty says

Really dude, If you go by Leviticus you sir should be stoned! I bet you wear garments made of two different textiles, eat bacon/ham/pork, eat shellfish and perform oral sex on your wifes dried up old box. We know you are a Christian, so you follow a false religion and pray to a lesser G’d! We don’t need to stone you…hell we could use bricks on you! If there is a hell (no mention in the Torah) you are first in line! You people are idiots and have no clue about shit! You do not even know your own Bible…….You don’t even realize your religion is a cult stolen from the Egyptian Book of the Dead! Face it, you are a sinner in G’d’s eyes and have no where to turn!

      1. Shosh 7154 says

shalom even shabat shalom ya yachty…I am interested in your comments…. I am a jew also on my mother’s side. I have looked at the prophets’ words and have found them to be extremely clear about who ha mashiach is. I was surprised to see how this is so with Yeshua Who is exceedingly jewish in His words and behavior even to the point of fulfilling hundreds of messianic prophecies. Let’s have a discussion. I am not interested in name calling or abusive exchange, just factual information. Are you interested in this discourse ? I would like to know if you can teach me about the Messiah of Israel.

      2. Ken V says fags have an answer for everything. Enjoy your time burning in Hell.

      3. Ken V says

By the way Mohammad was a homosexual and a pedifile

        1. yachty says

Perhaps he could spell PEDOPHILE! Really, you cannot spell a simple word and you have an opinion! Seriously that is what is wrong with society….parents think they do not need to help their children learn and they end up with people like you…..Lemmings!

          1. Peter Pan says

You sir are a homosexual and an asshole and are discredited

          2. Mark Clemens says

…….See it is a better philosophy. Peace is were it’s at. More people should study the New Testament. It has a much better theme than the Old Testament. To me (I am speaking for nobody else) The Old Testament is just another mad vengeful mid eastern deity. The new testament has a message of hope and kindness to be shared.
Until the Romans got involved, and the book of Revelation is hard core destruction.

        2. yachty says

          You are rather stupid!

      4. dondehoff says

“yachty”, and you sir, are not aware that the Qur’an, like all Holy Books, was compiled and edited by a committee of “mere mortals”. and those committees had a person in charge (also a mere mortal) that dictated what would and would not be included in the final drafts.—-and the “hodge-podge” result, had to later resort to hundreds of thousands of ahadith (also provided by mere mortals (wanting to be “part of the group) to document and justify what was in the Qur’an. The Qur’an, due to its complete lack of chronology and its many undated “abrogations” inserted at random, make that Holy Book undecipherable, even by the more learned Muslims, who have spend eons trying to clarify what it reveals and what it does not. And while I am not an “expert” on the Bible, it is reliably reported that many of the revelations in the Quran had a prior documentation (in some cases almost verbatim) in Jewish, Christianity and other religious sources. Logic, deductive reason and common sense, dictates no Holy Book is the “exact spoken word” of any All Knowing God. I do not hate any Muslim, in that they are the product of what they have been taught. I also believe that “truth and facts” can never be blasphemy, slander, racist or a hate crime.

      5. Mark Clemens says

If y’all are going to Stone people, could somebody please pass the number to Ken V. He seams a bit up tight…….

        1. yachty says

He is uptight and has no clue about anything!

    3. Wayne Thorson says

It says in the Bible that man who sleeps with man shall be stoned. Now they have passed gay marriage and have made pot legal. It is a professy come true.

    4. yachty says

Yet, you try to force your BS religion on everyone! Seriously, how can a grown man believe in Fairytales?

  3. KayO says

If a republican acts like a democrat, then he/she is a democrat wearing a GOP mask. Get them out of the GOP.

  4. Mark Clemens says

We do need more political parties. Two sizes do not fit all. The political system has lumped the whole country into two crazy groups ultra-liberal (democrat) ultra-conservative (republican) . Neither party represents the average people. Both parties practice extreme political views. No in between or common ground. Thats why we have the political grid lock.
Lets look at the Senate. Due to thick party lines, the Leader of the Senate is sitting on over 250 Bills passed by the House (hes holding issues back, due to his party’s agenda). When ever a bill comes to the Senate Floor the Minority Leader will try to stop a majority vote( to advance his party’s agenda). Here’s the problem, the two most powerful Senators are worried about their party’s agendas not the agendas of their constituents. If the People would be put before the party after election, this would be a much better country to live in……….

    1. William Fisher says

George Washington advised against a two party system. Who has only two choices? Either or doesn’t give the voter enough of a say. A lot of people get left out of the equation.

      1. Raymond Layland says

The two parties only serve a minority. If you check the voting roles, independents represent the majority. The American electorate has been exasperated by the ineffectual performance of their elected representatives.

        1. 2399molly says

As an independent I look forward to a independent party, meanwhile I vote Tea party because the others do not look that good.

          1. Wayne Thorson says

      2. MarieJ27 says

Americans own a Constitution. The problem is the left is ripping it apart so they can become a one party system.

        1. marshmil says

And that one party will be the Communist Party.

      3. Mark Clemens says

We did start out w/3 parties Federalist, Wiggs, Democrats. The Federalist just died out. The Wiggs turned into the Republicans. The Democrats are still holding on…….

        1. MarieJ27 says

The Democrats are the Communist Party here in America.

    2. dondehoff says

Mark, we don’t need more than two—just look a the continual power struggle that goes on in Great Britain. It takes but one or two very small splinter groups, like the Libertarians, to syphon-off enough votes to let the Democrats win—and obviously, they are the very ones advocating a third party. Mark, what is your political persuasion?—Democrat, Muslim, Libertarian, or some other NWO organization?

      1. Mark Clemens says

        I’ve been a Republican since 1972.

        1. Wayne Thorson says

And you havn’t learned anything by now?

          1. Mark Clemens says

Who said you are smart? Looking at your posts, you are the dumb one on this site.
People who tell you, you are smart, are just being kind………

          2. Wayne Thorson says

I have done my best to educate you. You obviously have a hard head or don’t have the ability to learn.

          3. Mark Clemens says

            When? What did you say?

          4. Wayne Thorson says

It is just plain common sense. The Republicans only want to reduce taxes and give tax benifits to the filthy rich and the top 1%. The Democrats want to raise the minimum wage and do things for the average Joe and you. I have tried to get someone that votes Republican to tell me what any Republican politician has ever done for them? I haven’t got an answer yet. Maybe you can help me there.

          5. Mark Clemens says

On a personal level, neither party has done anything for me, or to better my life. Both parties have run me out of business. Between the Patriot Act and the price of fuel.
I’m damn lucky I paid my house off in 2005, or I’d be living in a refrigerator box under a bridge.
            Here’s a tip……
Beware of the Fair Tax. There is NOTHING FAIR about it. This tax system will put the full taxation burdens upon the Middle Class and Poor. This Tax System is why the Koch Brothers started the Tea Party. They also bought into . Move On has started to advocate the bankruptcy of SSI, by expanding it’s benefits. Fair Tax is designed to skirt around SSI.
When you hear Tea Party candidates say they want to do away w/the IRS. They never say w/what. That’s because they know if people really look in to Fair Tax long, we will see what a fraud it is………
The Koch Boys are poised to bust a move here shortly. I betting after the New Year.

          6. MarieJ27 says

Raising the minimum wage only helps the organized unions. I don’t need any Republican to hold my hand, Wayne. You should have been on your own a long time ago and not worry about what the government can do for you?

          7. Wayne Thorson says

Look me up on people search. It will tell you I am 73 years old. I am on S.S. and medicare. Raising the miumum wage won’t do anything for me. I care about others. You should to. I asked you before does your minister know what kind of attitude do you have? Only thinking of youself the way you do. I retired when I was 62 I took care of myself. I am satisfied with what I have. I draw pensions from 4 differents accounts. I don’t plan on dying because they will all stop then.
Maybe if you ever worked for a minumum wage and tried to support a family you would have a better attitude.

          8. MarieJ27 says

well, that’s pretty shocking about you being in your 70’s. You should know better by now. I am 75. I raised 4 children one of them was a boy. I raised my son to be a man because with marriage comes lots of responsibility. Yes, I raised him to become married. I retired at 70 years old because of knee surgery or else I would love to think that I’d still be working. From the Democrats, all you hear is about a free lunch; that’s the problem with our country today. You don’t care about people or else you would complain how Obama took away school vouchers from American black children in DC. I worked beginning with $5.00 an hour and worked myself up to a better pay grade. I hardly called in and I worked any hours they suggested. I am still grateful that my employer came me an opportunity to support myself. That’s the American way.

          9. Wayne Thorson says

I hate to call you a liar but I have to. Your story doesn’t stand up. I started working right out of high school. I was glad to get $1 an hour. I graduated in 1959. In the late 60’s I was making $3.50 an hour. We got the opportunity to vote the union in successfully. I started making $5.25 an hour. This was top wages in those days. You couldn’t have started working until later in your life if you started at $5.00 an hour. You should hope your grandchildren will be able to start working for a reasonable starting salary. Raising the minumum wage will do it. If you worked in the work places you know the boss isn’t going to give you a merit raise or a cost of living raise unless he has to.

          10. MarieJ27 says

Wayne, my grandchildren are very well educated and have high paying jobs; both married. Both of them started at a very high salary which would make any union thug drool at getting a hold of part of their paycheck.

          11. Wayne Thorson says

Well, I hope your grandchidren don’t get an upity attitude like you.

          12. MarieJ27 says

I was in my 40’s when I started working for a hospital at $5.00 an hour which was in 1987. Raising the minumum wage will lose jobs, unfortunately your idiology stands in the way of your thinking. Too long a union spokesperson did your thinking. They cripple the mind just like the NAACP does to people of color. Oh, and Wayne, Progressives don’t mind calling Conversatives liars or racists. It’s the last thing they have in their bag of tricks.

          13. Wayne Thorson says

Well get ready, the minumum wage is going up. It will do wonders for the economy like it always has. Talk about name calling. Go back and read some of the comments on this blog. You are call the skillet black.

          14. MarieJ27 says

Obama’s ecomony is giving out disability and welfare checks.

          15. Wayne Thorson says

Republicans economy is giving tax cuts and tax breaks to the filthy rich.

          16. MarieJ27 says

Many rich people like Bill Gates & Donald Trump earned every dime they made. Are you angry at them too. Get yourself a part time job and stop complaining.

          17. Wayne Thorson says

I know people like you have hopes that someday you will have as much as them, but I got news for you. Your 75 and are not going to make it. The fact that you don’ want to pay your fair share of taxes now is just the same as your dream not to pay your fair share if you ever hit the lottery

          18. Wayne Thorson says

I am not complaining. I am just angry at people like you that don’t want to pay your fair share of taxes for living in this beautiful country we live in. Those two would not have what they have now if they had lived in another country.

          19. MarieJ27 says

I think your playing with people. Wayne. No one is that crazy, except I do have a brother who think your way. Crazy.

          20. Wayne Thorson says

I,m glad to hear there is someone in your family that has common sense. Have you ever given him a good reason you vote Republican? I bet you could never give him an acceptable reason because you don’t have one.

    3. paendragon says

What we really need is NO political parties, Mark!

It’s the idolatrous political “party” system itself which permits our otherwise public SERVANTS to indulge them selves in interest-conflicted divided loyalties, and so to metaphorically slip from the tethers of oversite we should be keeping them on.

Unless we eliminate political parties, the salesmen in government will destroy the country.

Politicians don’t represent the people – they only represent their parties. And their parties only represent those who pay them – who happen to be the exact same people for each party.

So ALL politicians are only treasonous sales-puppets, foisted on us by their corporazi sales-masters. Their real job is to sell us all out by selling off our country to the highest bidders – usually by buying our enemies’ money to fund their own pet projects. The faster the turnover (more sales per minute) the more quick profits, even at low-low fire-sales prices. It’s a race to the bottom.

There’s a simple solution to all this: simply make it illegal to fund political parties’ ad campaigns. After all, it’s supposedly already illegal to bribe or otherwise influence any politician with money – which is exactly what these loyalty-dividing, interest-conflicting parties them selves do, isn’t it? We’ve got the Internet – each candidate applicant can simply put their platform proposals up online, for free – so why do they need ad money? Who needs debates? Debates only let the most gliberal salesmen talk over each other for heckling points! Just get them to comment on each others’ platforms on their (government-owned-and-monitored) websites. That would force them to co-operate and put it all down in writing, too!

So, let’s just FIX DEMOCRACY! And here’s how: If we just hold 2 quick, back-to-back elections each time (the first, as usual, to hire the worker’s pool of our Public SERVANTS from our districts, and the second where WE ALL appoint them DIRECTLY to their cabinet portfolio positions) then we eliminate their self-interested conflicts of loyalty-dividing political “parties,” (which always only “party” at our direct expense, anyway,) forever!

  5. Wayne Thorson says

If that gay couple down the street have a piece of paper that is a commitment between them it shouldn’t bother anyone else. If they did’t have it, will they stop doing what they are doing? Whatever it is that they do, do. If it makes that gay couple feel better about themselves let them have it. If my wife and I didn’t have a marriage certificate and we have been living together all these years I can’t thnk of anyone that would think less of us or care. Have some compassion for that gay couple for they have been bullied all their lives and remember they are human beings to. I know some bible thumper will say it goes against bible teaching. It doesn’t say anything about a piece of paper between two people. It hasn’t been that long ago in some states it was against the law for a black person to marry a white person. A gay person can’t change what they are so stop thinking that they can.

    1. Mark Noske says

The libertarians do well with that philosophy.

      1. Wayne Thorson says

Mark, So what is your philosophy?

    2. Mark Clemens says

I think the Gay Marriage is more a legal issue for the courts. If you are not lawfully married, and the union dissolves who has rights to own or take what. Also insurances are a issue to. Well if gay couples have the right to marry, they will also enjoy the benefits of divorce……..
I think that’s what a lot of them are shooting for, insurance and divorce rights.
Waylon Jennings once told me this:
“If marriage is the #1 cause of divorce, do you know what the #2 reason for divorce is?
      Somebody coming home early”
Gay people do come home early……….

      1. Wayne Thorson says

I have no idea of how you stand on this issue. When a union dissolves where would the difference be on gays and straights?

        1. Mark Clemens says

Straight couples have property issues when the union dissolves. If you are lawfully married a judge decided who owns, or pays what. If your just Shacking Up. Your property rights are in jeopardy. You may of helped your “Old Man” pay for y’all’s house, but if y’all split and the house is in the “Old Man’s” name. The “Old Lady” will have to go, uncompensated. Same w/cars, boats, motorcycles, any property really.
Other than reproduction whats your problem in homosexuals looking out for their property rights?

          1. Wayne Thorson says

Mark, I still don’t get where you stand on this issue. If gay people get divorced the property rights will be divided the same as straight couples. Do you find something wronge with this?

          2. Mark Clemens says

They are looking out for their property rights. If their union ends. Maybe they should use the word UNION instead of MARRIAGE.
Think about this. Most homosexuals are atheists. Why else would they want to participate in a religious institution? I mean the Christian Bible and Coran both preach against homosexuality……..
Also there is no better word for a union than Marriage.

          3. Wayne Thorson says

Obviously you don’t believe in separation of church and state. Ministers all the time refuse to marry straight couples they can do the same for gays. Gays can always get married in the court house. I’m still waiting to hear why you are so against it.

          4. dondehoff says

Wayne, you are so wrong, Until just recently, most all states have laws defining marriage as being between a man and a women—-and for thousands of years it has been a international legal position for most all countries. I am not against gays of the same sex living together but their circumstances are sufficiently different to warrant a clearly defined name or title for their association. We would not want a nurse’s aide to advertise as an MD, a Piper-Cub pilot stating he is an airline pilot, a carpenter declaring he was a structural engineer. Again, the difference between a gay relationship and marriage is sufficiently different to entitle it by its own name, rules and set of laws. The public has the right to know, due to those differences.

          5. Wayne Thorson says

dondehoff, There is no doubt you can find something in your mind to justify your bigetry. I for one have no idea of what your point is in your dribble.

          6. dondehoff says

Wayne, In a single sentence, I will try and clarify my “dribble”. “The differences between gay couples living together and traditional marriages are clearly different, to such a degree they warrant different identifying names, rules and laws”. The “same-sex” gays are so insecure with their arrangement that they are forced to steal the name of the eons old world-wide accepted name and meaning of marriage. I trust that does not make be a bigot. I have not objection to same-sex gays having a relationship but they should have the courage to stand on their own merits, rules, and laws. I also find their stated position that their numbers are in excess of 10% of the population is also wrong. Several world-wide studies, reveal that the figure is less than one percent—again, their stand is to reinforce their position. And, the gay persuasion is in for “deep trouble”, with the Muslims expanding their influence world-wide. The Qur’an dictates the death penalty for those of the gay persuasion—and when in control of a country, they enforce that “revelation” by “removing heads”. I don/t agree with that but they now have somewhere between 2 and 10 million devout Muslims living in this country. I suggest you and the gay community redirect your efforts to this far greater problem.

          7. Wayne Thorson says

I hate to be the on to burst your bubble but same sex marriage is here to stay. It hasn’t been that long ago when black people weren’t aloud to marry whites in some states. There were a lot of bigots then to. So don’t feel lonely.

  6. Marc Thomas says

I say that conservative Republicans need to become precinct committee officers in the Republican Party. Just like conservative Democrats need to become precinct committee officers in the Democrat Party. Precinct committee officers elect all of the party leaders. There are 400,000 precinct committee offices in the Republican party, but half of them are vacant and the other half are split evenly between conservatives and moderates. If we could fill up all of the vacant slots with conservatives, then the Republican party would be at 100% full strength on the precinct committee level with a 75% conservative majority. For more information about precinct committee officers, please log onto the following website.

  7. Greg137 says

Republican party has lost alot of their soul( the LEADERSHIP has at ny rate) as a party which is sad… They will forever lose if they drop the social issues because then they eventually will be nothing but “democrat-lite”…
The defined purpose of Marriage is to give reckognition ton the further probligation of our race..
without the ability to have children humanity would die out… Gays can’t have kids.. Marriage is not simply for having sex.. If you want sex then either get yourself a sex toy, a prostitute, a fag lover, or a horse and have fun, but to have kids means that society will survive through your loins.. That is why the definitition of marriage exists… Why it will always exist as a man and a woman…

    1. Wayne Thorson says

A piece of paper doesn’t mean anything to anybody else except the two people whose name is on the contract. Just like your marriage certificate nobody else cares about it except you and your spouse. So what do you care if that couple of gays down the street have a contract between them or not?

  8. WhiteFalcon says

The first thing to keep in mind is that number one priority is getting rid of democrats. Once that is done, then with a Republican president and Congress, the law can be written to mandate non queer marriages, but first get rid of all the demoturds possible.

  9. fred says

If anyone is interested please do not do not discus religion, women’s health issues or the FACT that we have a treasonous criminal in the WH! If you’re running for office talk about socialized heathcare and how evil it is, and how POORLY the economy is doing, maybe you’ll get elected!

    1. b glad says

There is a war for the very “soul” of this nation and unless that war is won by right, none of the issues are going to matter.

    2. Mark Clemens says

The Republican Debates of 2012 were boring. No bad mouthing each other. I would of talked trash on everyone’s bad points or failures. All of them had both! Hell I’m conservative, wouldn’t mind being president either. Y’all want a more interesting political season for 2016? I run for President under the democrats party. I’ll trash talk Hillary all the way down the gutter, were she belongs. I’ll put God back in that party! All I need is about $3 million. Shit if MONEY=SPEECH and YOU want to buy a presidential candidate HERE I AM!!
Lets quit beating around the bush. The rest will lie, and tell you they are looking out for you.
Not me! I’m for sale! You want to advance YOUR agenda, I’m your man!! Since I’m being honest here, if you can’t give me at least $100,000 I CAN’T HEAR YOU. So y’all chip in, I really want to rip Hillary a new ass hole on national TV. Wouldn’t you rather see that, than the same old boring crap we’ve been seeing since 1984. I thought Carter and Reagan had sensible debates. After that, they have been watered down………generic actually

    3. GoldenRudy says

And you forgot one more. More money for “education” and “infra-structure”. They sound so good when said together.

  10. b glad says

Take the social issues away from the Republican Party and what you have left is two democrat Parties and if you think the destruction of America is in full gear with one Democrat Party, hold on to your britches.

    1. WhiteFalcon says

I think that it will be easier to change the Republican party by electing conservatives than it will be to change the democrap party, but it could be the other way around. I would like to see some real conservatives run on the democrap ticket in some places.

  11. yachty says

There is a billionaire giving money to GOP candidates that support Gay Marriage. Really, that was the only reason many voted for Obama. The GOP is rather stupid with pushing their social agenda. Many gays have much more money than their straight counterparts. It is a proven fact that Gays make more money and have more disposable income….wake up GOP you will loss again in 2015 if you don’t get up and smell the coffee!

    1. GoldenRudy says

So money trumps principle to you? “Stupid” in defending the social norms that made this country the beacon of hope to all? How about calling them what they are” They are homosexuals. Nothing “gay” about them. My Chevy is not a Bentley, no matter how often I refer to it as a Bentley. Same with the 3% of the population.

      1. Mark Clemens says

Speech and Money are one in the same.
Get use to the Rich New Political Machine.
        Pony up, or Shut up………

        1. GoldenRudy says

Not quite clear on the meaning of your comment.

      2. yachty says

I am sorry that you drive a Chevy! What part of what you wrote do you not understand? This country should be a “Beacon of Hope to All”! If done legally and in proper channels. Considering that the gay population is 10%, actually some say it is above 15% and some say more with all the cheating spouses that have sex with the same sex. Until the GOP gets their fantasies out of peoples bedrooms and mind their own business about abortion this country will be sitting still. Come on, Gay marriage will be legal in all 50 states and the GOP cannot change that. As the old people die off , there narrow minds go with them. People under 40 are 68% for gay marriage! The remaining 32% will turn as their parents die off….The baby boomers are on the way out! Just by your “Gay” remark I can tell you are OLD. Why fight something that will never effect you!

        1. GoldenRudy says

first of all, the 10% is a lie. It was pushed in the early 1990s and proven false. Calling something “gay” that is demonstrably not, is no different than calling a woolen coat a mink coat. (You appear to dislike the auto analogy.) What is “gay” about a group with a suicide rate higher and HIV disease rate than the heterosexual group on a percentage basis of the whole? They are not. Those that push the 10% figure are themselves homosexuals and want to convince others they are much more of the population than they are.

          1. yachty says

The 10% is not a lie, the 3% is a lie from the GOP! Everyone that studies the subject, that does not have an interest in lower numbers say at least 10%! Some say it is closer to 15-20%….all one has to do is go on Craigslist and see all the married men w/kids looking to hook up with other guys for sex! Gay in your generation means one thing, in this time period it refers to Homosexuals. Shows how old you are! The last question is just ridiculous! I am Jewish, as is my husband and our two boys! Soon your ideas will be gone with your generation! The generation we can thank for all the pollution, the extinction of wild animals and over population!

          2. GoldenRudy says

“Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law, a sexual orientation law think tank, released a study in April 2011 estimating based on its research that 1.7 percent of American adults identify as gay or lesbian, while another 1.8 percent identify as bisexual.” UCLA Law must be lying? BTW. I don’t spend my time “cruising” Craig’sList. In regard to being Jewish: being Jewish means you are anti-ISIS? But how and why then do Jews support Obama who is anti-Israel and pro-Islam since day one as POTUS? Has Sen Schumer denounced Obama, yet? Why does Hollywood big wheels fund Obama? If they are Jewish and are anti-ISIS, who at its very core belief is anti-Jew, why support a man who thinks ISIS is the “JV” team? Also, does the word “gay” refer to anyone or anything else in your lexicon?

          3. dondehoff says

Yachty, you are grossly uniformed and have been listening to too much hearsay, innuendo and “wishful thinking”. First, about 80% of the over-populated countries are those referred to as 3rd world, in the Near and Middle East. Russia has a declining native population, as are the Caucasians in this country, while the population of the blacks and Chicanos are on a significant increase. Great Britain did not have a population problem until they were engulfed by heavy immigration, as is many countries—so just who is responsible for this “over-population” issue? The Jewish population in the U.S. is on the decline, but on the other side of the coin, they are the most family oriented, have the fewest divorces and school “drop-outs: and are the most “focused” of any race. Your 3rd sentence is utter meaningless nonsense. “GoldenRudy”, was merely pointing out the original dictionary meaning of the word “gay”. Today, regardless of age (I am 82), the term “gay” is well understood by how it is used in the sentence and overall subject matter. You appear desperate to get involved in issues you know little about and consequently have your foot in your mouth most of the time. And, the extinction of wild animals has been an on-going problem for thousands of years, and we, world-wide, have been a fault, but much can be attributed to geological and astrological issues. If anything, the UN recently has been overreacting to this issue. Our conservation efforts have been increasing significantly every year for the last 50 years—and keep in mind it has been a problem for most all countries, as “food on the table” takes precedence over animals on the prairie, especially when it can be but “one or the other”.

Yachty”, the gays say their numbers are in excess of 10%, but most all surveys indicate the figure is less than 2%. They gays want recognition so they use as large a figure they can get away with. I believe the one percent-plus figure is more accurate. Many people, out of curiosity, have “experimented”, and found the issue to be unpalatable (no pun intended). And, to the gay’s chagrin, society has included the pedophiles in the gay category. The pedophiles insist their “propensity” is the same as other gays and are demanding equal protection under the law and unfettered access to young children. I also note many gay “males” look with a jaundiced eye toward their female counterparts, and vise versa. I believe the only solution is for congress to have an open (TV) public hearing, with all parties subpoenaed, including each of the gay “persuasions”, and including the legal, medical, social, religious and “people on the streets”. I believe such a hearing will result in most of the gay persuasions coming away with few if any of their “expectations” being realized. And, what is with your “gay and OLD” remark? I am 82 years young and have seen many of your “ilk” come and go.

the idea this will split anything is BS. it isn’t that important it isn’t going to get your children blown up by a Jihadist or the like. what it will do is give the left food for division. If you are going to be married gay loud and proud than you will become a target for Jihad. So knock yourself out go to work and remember you reap what you sow. do not be surprised when the left turns on you as a non viable reason to attack the right. The war on stuff dreamed up by the leftist media never was on Romney’s mind at all. He proposed jobs yet the media beat him to death with the outsourceing or off shoring and bs like that. Now the DEMS have 4 wars they started and will have more a la King Obama. So do you support the Jihad against– now follow American jobs? that means the illegal importation of low skilled workers and the over priced “quote” healthcard you may now have because the card may be all you really get. next do you support abortions by your tax dollars? seems a bit weird when Planned parenthood isn’t planning for births much. then do you support the war on Ebola? we send Marines and the Seabees will be next to build hospitals yet seems no one else is ending squat.? And now ISIS. Did Thomas Jefferson start this or the Prophet who married a nine year old? the gay marriage thing isn’t your life or my death. it isn’t even as noteable as Sandra Fluke’s need for you to buy her B-control. There are more important concerns for the low intell voters like -whose got my football squares? Hachiaem Jahmal Rashid Antoine needs his new I-phone, come on Mr Ferguson Prezee from where? where’s ma money? see there are more things going one that you don’t know. Borrowed that from Lynryd Skynryd

  13. MarieJ27 says

it will split the GOP. The Republicans have always had gay people in their
party. The gays never made a big deal of their life style and either did the
GOP. Today, everything is politicized and that’s the big problem. A radical
few on the left want to create a special class of people just like Obama did
giving his cronies a gift of no Obamacare for them. It is unAmerican. It is
    dividing the country.

  14. Van Hamlin says

The last time the Republican Party enjoyed a landslide victory in both the house and the senate, Newt Gingrich and company carried out major squabbles over religion and abortion. They wasted their opportunity to get some real work done in the realm of economic reform. While America was talking about abortion, Newt and Bill Clinton raided social security to “pay off the debt.” Now that was a good move! The national debt is now the highest in world history, the dollar is worth only a fraction of what it was back then and now we are going to fight over “Same Sex Marriage.”

Huckabee is a classic pawn in the Progressive’s fight to undermine the constitution. The battle here is not whether two people of the same sex can claim the benefits that come with legal marriage but rather State’s Rights. Even more importantly, the right of each citizen to have his vote actually stand for something. In every state where these controversial laws were challenged, State legislatures crafted laws that they believed would pass constitutional review. In each case the Supreme court has sent them back for specific reasons. It is up to the state legislatures to rewrite these laws. It should be made clear to the Supreme Court that they may reject bad laws but do not have the power to infringe on state’s rights by creating state law in conformity with some federal vision of a Progressive new world, which replaces the law voters passed.

The new congress must deal with tax reform, domestic economic development, and health care reform. I would like to see them pass a law that directed the Supreme Court to stop trespassing on the rights of the voter. In a time when most congress persons are listening to lobbyists and big donors on topics like weakening our immigration laws and stopping the USA’s emergence as a world energy power; the Republicans want you and I to be distracted by the fact that Gay people want to have a legitimized relationship with someone they love. With Isis on our doorstep and it taking $1.68 to buy 1 British Pound Sterling, we need to get our economic house in order so that those of us who have families that can produce children are able to provide those offspring with the same opportunities that their parents once had.

The solution is to vote every progressive out and put some rookie congress slug into office. I don’t care if the person we vote in thinks that cheese comes from the moon; a new person has not had time to be corrupted by lobbyists, big radical donors and the power of their office.

  15. GoldenRudy says

Yes it will! Those wishing to completely destroy the Republican Party and any “loyal opposition” to the Democrat Party will be in favor of this shift. A 3rd Party will be given its “raison d’etre”; the GOP will be an after thought; and the Democrat Party will rule this country to complete destruction. Be careful GOP big $$$.

  16. AlanWH says

Gay so-called “marriage is not about the GOP or the democrats. It’s about the Eternal Word of YHVH. “If a man lies with a man as he would with a woman, it is an Abomination.” Leviticus 20:13 “And you shall not lie with a man as you would a woman, it is a Detestable thing.” Leviticus 18:22 “Heaven and Earth Shall Pass Away, but My Words will Not Pass Away.” Matthew 24:35 Glory Be To YHVH, YAHSHUA(JESUS) and Their Eternal Word Forever!

  17. Bill Suskevich says

Most marriages are happy and gay. Homosexual marriages are the problem and calling them “Gay” does not make it any more real that you calling yourself the King of France and going out and buying a crown. Gay is a word pirated by the homosexual community to mask the realization of what it is. If you have to mask what you are really talking about, there is a problem, face it.

    1. Mark Clemens says

Homosexual sex sounds like a pain in the ass to me. Nothing gay or festive about it. Not to mention AIDS, they might break their rectum. I wonder if all that is brought up in public schools? I bet the schools sugar coat it, knowing kids are curious…..

    2. yachty says

Again, the elders will die off (look in the Mirror) and the younger generation doesn’t have narrow minds like Baby Boomers…..what happened to the free love people? Answer is that you got old and bitter! Heterosexual Marriages divorce at a rate of over 50%…doesn’t sound so happy!

      1. dondehoff says

“Yachty”, and what is your premise?—you are comparing apples and oranges”. Free-love? That is what most wild animals do and the family structure would destruct. The Muslim divorce rate would be astronomical, if they allowed women to divorce men, or if they had full and equal legal recourse for rape—a raped Muslim women must have four witnesses to the act and if she does not prevail in court, it is assumed she was a fault by contributing to the rape and she can be subject to “stoning”. If four honest men were present, the rape probably would not have occurred. And that barbaric edict is an ideology and culture issue.

        1. yachty says

Where do Muslims come into what I wrote? The 60’s were the Free Love Generation or Baby Boomers!

      2. Mark Clemens says

The Free Love people died of drug overdoses, or AIDS (before we knew what AIDS was). That left the Baby Boomers w/morals.
Do you know the homosexual divorce rate is 78%?

        1. TexasStomp says

I’m more concerned with the promiscuity rates… and not just among Gays. The last statistics I read (from USPHD as part of an HIV transmission report) showed a significant number of Gays report up to 30 sexual encounters in one weekend. The statistic is considered reliable since it was based on “contact” reports for notification of possible exposure to HIV.

Add to that the fact that while liberals scream for later and later term abortions the birth rate among “father unknown” populations of low income girls, some as young as 11 is double to triple the birth rate among married couples.

As taxpayers we are expected to foot the bill for these peoples’ poor choices. HIV drugs cost a fortune and we currently pay women entitlement aid by the child. We don’t even try to discourage them having more. We literally pay by the head so it’s little wonder they keep having kids.

Considering just these two factors I’d say divorce rates among gays is the LEAST of our worries.

        2. yachty says

Really? The Hippies died off! I don’t think so, as I know a few old people that were and are hippies! Hell, the Rolling Stones would be dead by your thinking!
Considering there are no numbers regarding “Gay Divorce” the 78% is pulled from your butt! I know several gay couples that have been together forever! I had a instructor in college he and his partner met in WWII in the Navy and were together still and that was the mid 90’s! Remember most of the gay people on earth came from straight couples!
There is a billionaire giving money to GOP candidates that are Pro-Equal rights!

    3. dondehoff says

Bill, a very salient point. Ditto for the word “Marriage”. Gays of the same sex are going to continue to do “their thing”, but I do not accept them using the word “marriage”. There are sufficient “differences” in a gay union and the internationally and eons old honored use of the world marriage for man and a women—-and the public at large has both a need and right to know those differences. We should also examine, in detail, the lives of “straight children” being raised in a gay community—-those children surely must have doubts and confusion; living their at-home lives and then being required to out in the real world where the rules are different. Has there been any studies concerning the ratio of children in gay households, also being gay—which could (would?) have “environmental” implications as opposed to being “natural” or genetic.

      1. Wayne Thorson says

Mark, people in middle East are taught to hate anyone who doesn’t think like them from the day they are born. That’s why they have been fighting for over 500 years. Read all the comments on this blog. You can’t say all these far right Republicans aren’t just plumb full of hate. I can’t believe by reading these comments what you and all your pals have to say. Your reference to a 72 year old shooting a bullet, what does that mean?

        1. Jimmy King says

Wayne they have one thing in common that fuels their hate and that’s Religion

  22. Mynickelsworth says

I agree with Mr. Huckabee. The homosexual platform and abortion are absolutely wrong and are the leading cause of the condition of the USA today. God destroyed the country of Israel because they left Him behind and He said that much of the punishment was because of all the Innocent Blood shed by their King, Manasseh. The US has kicked God out of schools, prayer and the Bible out of public functions, even athletic events, and we have shed the blood of over 50 MILLION babies and continue to do so.
God will be patient only so long and then He brings judgement.
I will not support, or vote for, any politician who is pro homosexual marriage, pro-abortion or anti-christian.
Read the first chapter of Romans if you question God’s position on the first one.
If the GOP wishes to win the election they MUST stay with the traditional values of Moral Christianity and the strict interpretation of the Constitution. State Rights is one of the biggest problems with our Government. Washington has become dictator of many things ‘reserved for the states and for the people”. Article I, Section 8 specifies exactly what the powers of the Federal Government are as granted by the Constitution. Amendment 10 says that anything not specifically granted to the Federal Government is reserved to the States and to the People.
Nowhere in section 8 is any powers given for the Fed. Govt. to be involved in Education, Agriculture, Energy, Transportation (except post roads), Health & Human Services, Housing & Urban Development, Labor and, as presently empowered, Homeland Security. The Constitution only gives Commerce, Defense, Treasury, Treasury and State as specifics of Federal Operations.

  23. Billy says

The day the Republican Party sides with Homosexuality, I am done with the Republican Party and I have been a Republican for 68 years. The Republican Party will loose 60% of it’s base if it does this. Every Republican I know feels this way.

    1. GoldenRudy says

The irony to me is that the GOP will of the way of the Whig Party which is the Party the GOP replaced. The Whig Party was on the wrong side of history then, the GOP may repeat the mistake. Sometimes “compromise” is not a solution.

      1. Billy says

GoldenRudy – – – If the Republican Party goes the way of the Whig Party, so be it. It will be the fault of the morons running the party. When the Republican Party, like the U.S. Government begins discounting the will of the people, they need to crash and burn. When our elected officials stop paying attention to what the people who elected them want and making decisions that benefit themselves, they are no longer useful to us so why would we want them to succeed? Washington has turned into a snake pit, a cesspool and it may be to the countries benefit if Washington imploded.
I have always despised the Democratic Party but I am starting to feel the same way about my own Republican Party. They all look the same anymore.

    2. Wayne Thorson says

Glad to hear your getting out of that bigetry party. It took you 68 years to wisen up. I told my mother in law it wasn’t fair for them people to go through life and never experience what it is like to have a mother in law. Now those gay people and us are finaly equal. Praise the Lord.

  24. Virginia Cavalier says

A Republican Party condoning, promoting, patronizing, Same Sex Marriage, is not a Conservative Republican Party. But then, Today’s Republican Party, The New Republican Party, The RINO Republican Party is not conservative. Why compete with The Democrat National Socialist’s by pandering to the fringe elements of this nation thinking you shall garner a few votes? Leave all that to The Left. It is time for a true, clearly defined, Christian Conservative, Third Party to come to the surface…

  25. CharlieZ says

If social conservatives refuse to support economic conservatives we will get Dems. It took 50 years to get to the state where we are and it will take 50 years to get back our conservative social values. We must first teach that conservatives are not three headed monsters. We must slowly get the population back to our side not scare them away. We also need to get conservatives in our schools as teachers. How many teachers are liberal in the colleges it must be over 90% and in HS’s maybe 80%. How many conservatives do you know who teach. What about in news, if it weren’t for Fox there would be none. This will be a long slow process and if people follow Huckabee we will not have conservatives in the Senate, House, or the state houses. We must realize this is a long slow recovery that can only be sabotaged by trying to swing for the fences rather than hitting singles. If we don’t have the patents of a liberal we will never win. Read “Rules for Radicals” you can learn something, we are todays Radicals.

  28. Amy Thomas says

What bull. Gays only represent 3% of the population, so their vote is small. While the rest of the population who has made it clear they are not in favor of gay marriage, is overruled. What happened to states rights and our Constitution? These courts are out of control. Minority rules now instead of the majority. Republicans need to get on the ball and follow the wishes of the majority.

  29. Ben Dover says

As I have personally stated many times before and have just lately noticed several authors concurring with me on this subject, legalizing “gay” marriage (and I abhor using “marriage” to describe this association as it is a sacrament in Roman Catholic religion) will only open the floodgates for many other types of relationships such as polygamy and those involving incest.

(I put this entry on a previous blog and some yo yos from left field started responding with a bunch of foolish diatribe that made no sense. One said that they agreed with polygamy but I don’t think they realized that it could involve any arrangement of males and females.)

Regardless of how this plays out with possibly incurring God’s wrath upon this once great nation, this situation is going to keep the lawyers busy for sure.

Oddly…and ironically…before Utah was admitted to the union, they were required to outlaw polygamy.

    1. yachty says

First off, Marriage was not invented by Christians (all the did is steal a story form the Egyptian Book of the Dead and build a cult around it). Nor was it invented by Jews! It was brought to you and the world by Pagans! G’d does not protect the USA! G’d protects Israel and his Chosen! Sorry to breal it to you, but you follow a false religion!

      1. Ben Dover says

Don’t know what cauldron you’re trying to stir up here, but Jesus is the way. Regardless of what Christian denomination…

Jesus….Please he never existed and if he did:

          25 0 0

The Jewish tradition of “The Messiah” has its foundation in numerous biblical references, and understands “The Messiah” to be a human being – without any overtone of deity or divinity – who will bring about certain changes in the world and fulfill certain criteria before he can be acknowledged as “The Messiah”.

First of all, he must be Jewish – “…you may appoint a king over you, whom the L-rd your G-d shall choose: one from among your brethren shall you set as king over you.” (Deuteronomy 17:15)

He must be a member of the tribe of Judah – “The staff shall not depart from Judah, nor the sceptre from between his feet…” (Genesis 49:10)

To be a member of the tribe of Judah, the person must have a biological father who is a member of the tribe of Judah.

He must be a direct male descendant of King David and King Solomon, his son – “And when your days (David) are fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who shall issue from your bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name, and I will make firm the throne of his kingdom forever…” (2 Samuel 7:12 – 13)

The genealogy of the New Testament is inconsistent. While it gives two accounts of the genealogy of Joseph, it states clearly that he is not the biological father of Jesus. One of the genealogies is through Nathan and not Solomon altogether!

He must gather the Jewish people from exile and return them to Israel -”And he shall set up a banner for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.” (Isaiah 11:12)

Are all Jews living in Israel? Have all Jews EVER lived in Israel since the time of Jesus?

He must rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem – “…and I will set my sanctuary in their midst forever and my tabernacle shall be with them..” (Ezekiel 37:26 – 27)

At last check, there is NO Temple in Jerusalem. And worse, it was shortly after Jesus died that the Temple was DESTROYED! Just the opposite of this prophecy!

He will rule at a time of world-wide peace – “…they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” (Micah 4:3)

Have you seen a newspaper lately? Are we living in a state of complete world peace? Has there ever been peace since the time of Jesus?

He will rule at a time when the Jewish people will observe G-d’s commandments – “My servant David shall be king over them; and they shall all have one shepherd. They shall follow My ordinances and be careful to observe My statutes.” (Ezekiel 37:24)

The Torah is the Jewish guide to life, and its commandments are the ones referred to here. Do all Jews observe all the commandments? Christianity, in fact, often discourages observance of the commandments in Torah, in complete opposition to this prophecy.

He will rule at a time when all people will come to acknowledge and serve one G-d – “And it shall come to pass that from one new moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me, says the L-rd” (Isaiah 66:23)

there are still millions if not billions of people in the world today who adhere to paganistic and polytheistic religions. It is clear that we have not yet seen this period of human history unfold.

All of these criteria are best stated in the book of Ezekiel Chapter 37 verses 24-28:

And David my servant shall be king over them; and they shall all have one shepherd. they shall also follow My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them. And they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Yaakov my servant, in which your fathers have dwelt and they shall dwell there, they and their children, and their children’s children forever; and my servant David shall be their prince forever. Moreover, I will make a covenant of peace with them, it shall be an everlasting covenant with them, which I will give them; and I will multiply them and I will set my sanctuary in the midst of them forevermore. And my tabernacle shall be with them: and I will be their G-d and they will be my people. Then the nations shall know that I am the L-rd who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary will be in the midst of them forevermore.

If an individual fails to fulfill even one of these conditions, then he cannot be “The Messiah.” A careful analysis of these criteria shows us that to date, no one has fulfilled every condition.

          Certainly NOT Jesus.

          1. Ben Dover says

This blog was not to debate Christianity…My entry’s sole purpose was to poke fun at the ridiculousness of declaring that 2 people of the same sex can be joined in holy matrimony…legally. The point is that a flood gate of litigation will be opened from groups of polygamists to possible unions between immediate family.

Others mentioned that God would smite this nation because of that, and I gave it a mention in passing. Not being a theologian…or someone like you that studies enough about religion to find reasons not to believe in God…one has to have faith in what we all believe to be true.

Now you want to debate Christianity…sorry to disappoint you but no matter what you write I don’t give a $h!t.

The funny thing is…without God…there are no atheists.

If everybody’d just mind their own damned business and stop worrying about who OTHER people want to marry, this world would be a much nicer and saner place to live. This is not just a Republican issue and it’s NOT this issue that is getting in the way. It’s the country’s addiction to prejudice in a variety of issues. The intolerance levels in this country are despicable.

  31. Ray Heffley says

My religious and Christian input. Man is borne in sin. After the age of 21 he becomes responsible for his actions. Most Americans will make a religious choice as they grow. Its tough for a Christian who has the genetic design that render them non masculine or masculine. The Church should recognize him or Her. Their Minister should help them with confession to God and their acceptance be recognized. But the decision to engage in same sex union should be a government project, Not a religious blessing, which is always been between a man and a woman. Men same sex unions or Woman same sex unions should be recognized by the government and given the monetary rewards as marriage permits. They seek the tax rewards. Some are not lacking the genetic affliction, but rather simply enjoy the Liberal concept of freedom of thought and expression without judgement. That is not a holy commitment. So there has to be recognition, by the government in respect to law which will recognize and accept the significance of Holy Matrimony to the Church. Do this and political affiliation will not be important. Any sinning Christian ( all of us ) can walk into a church and worship together. Those Christians in Marriage and those Christians in government Unions.

    1. GoldenRudy says

Is not the age of reasoning seven or thereabout? Claiming to be under 21 will not get a person very far when called to account for his/her actions. One example: the military. And if you cannot define the Christian God as Father, as in “The Our Father”, in an attempt to be very sensitive, why don’t you be up to date and refer to God as a neutral gender, It?

There is no such thing as gay marriage. I hate the term and the action in question. Marriage is between a man and a woman. I don’t know what to call a gay union but it is not marriage! We need to stop corrupting english by calling people something that they are not because they are offended by what they really are.
First we need to get thee supreme court out of the sin business. Marriage is not a right, abortion is not a right and so on. If we want to add a right to the American people, pass an amendment to the Constitution. The supreme court has no constitutional power to make laws or to give people rights. Who gave them such power, they gave it to themselves. Nine unaccountable, unelected people are very much in charge of the country. This must changed!!
For political purposes I believe that jobs, the economy, taxes, national defense, immigration, foreign defense, healthcare and national debt are all very important and the kind of issues that can win campaigns . Moral and sin issues have no business before the supreme court or on the nation level, they as per the constitution belong to the states. Where the states, by the will of the people can decide. Get the federal government out of the moral and sin business, where the issues don’t belong. I believe that the majority of the american people would support the idea of getting the federal government out of moral issues and would support that idea much more readily.
While I hate the gay marriage it is an issue I can do nothing at a Federal level. But at a state level I can have an impact. All issues can be delta with in a campaign, but some time a different approach is necessary.

Getting back to the issue above, it IS true that moderate Reps. WILL bend and hurt the Republican party because they want the govt. to work. They want to be re-elected. The same way, Ultra-Conservatives such as Mike Huckabee may find themselves not being electable and off the ballots after the primaries.
So,what is the answer? I think traditional values and moral issues are important in this nation as a whole.
Look what has happened with gay liberation, all since abortion became the law of the land. There are fewer and fewer heterosexuals getting married every year. Maybe the answer to some of these moral issues and keeping the nation strong would be to have three parties. I’ve thought so for a long time now, as for the last six or more years, Reps. have chosen moderate votes just to keep the govt. running. Case
in point is the cutting of Veteran benefits and retirement funds. I’ll NEVER again for Rep. Paul Ryan
again since he voted to cut vet. retirement! If we don’t support our defenders, we will do ANYTHING.
    Answer? Three party politics.

Who is the Nincompoop who wrote this Article? The Number Five Spot Occupied by Bill
“Traitor” Clinton should be Occupied by Ronald Reagan. It is Asinine NOT
to have Reagan in the Top Ten Presidents because Clinton road the Coat Tails of the Economy
Reagan Built Up into Office and Took Credit for it, but it was Proven Before
“W” was even Elected that the Economy was headed towards going in the
Crapper which it did when “W” got into Office Especially after 9-11
happened. Clinton deserves to be on the list of the 10 Worst Presidents along
with Carter and this Idiot we now have Illegally Occupying the Office. The Very
First Thing that Clinton did upon entering Office was try to Destroy the
Military that he “Loathed” so much by trying to allow Gays to serve openly in
the Military and you see where that has gotten us? The Gays weren’t satisfied
with getting Military Benefits, they set out to “Redefine” Marriage with these Farce
Same Sex “Marriages” which are being supported by these Idiotic Liberal Federal
Justices in the Federal Courts. If you put all of the Gay Married People on one
Island and all of the Lesbian Married People on another Island I defy them to
produce Offspring without the help from someone from the opposite Sex, it is
Simply a fact of Nature that just can’t be done. The driving factor behind this
movement is to obtain Federal Benefits that Only Legally Married People can
Obtain and that has to be between One Man and One Woman as GOD Defines
Marriage. In the meantime one after another Laws Passed by the PEOPLE Banning
Same Sex Marriages is being stricken down by these Idiotic Liberal Federal
Justices State by State. The People should stand up and Fight and Realize that
all of these Same Sex Marriages are going to drive our Taxes Up even Higher
    than they are right now. If this keeps up we are truly headed for an;

    INEPTOCRACY: A system
of Government where the Least Capable to Lead are Elected by the Least Capable
of Producing, and where the members of Society Least Likely to Sustain
Themselves or Succeed, are Rewarded with Goods and Services Paid for by the
Confiscated Wealth of a DIMINISHING Number of Producers.
Question: Once the Numbers of People/Producers Diminish to a
Certain Number that makes it Impossible to Sustain the Amount of New
Entitlements and Free Aid given out where is the Government going to get the
Answer, the Wealthiest People like they always do.
Question: What is going to happen when the Wealthiest People
    run out of Money?
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine.

  39. Mark Brickey says

Why do we, as a nation & as a group/party, allow 2.5 – 5% of this population to “run” our country? Never has such a minute minority of “common people” been in such command of so much “power”!
We need a STRONG congress to stand up to these progressive judges, progressive pols & make sure that the Law of the Land is the US Constitution. That means, of course, that the Legislature makes the laws, Judiciary interprets those laws & the Executive upholds those laws.
Marriage is NOT a federal issue. The Feds do not issue any such licenses. This is a STATE issue granted by the Constitution & it needs to be such. Each State should bring this issue before it’s people & let them decide. Period. And each State should have the right to decline that license/privilage according to it’s people’s choice. Period.

Only between GOP Christians and GOP non Christians. I stand with the GOP Christians.

  43. jcmoore2010 says

i don’t think it is the right point to insist it be between a man and a woman, I think the republican party should hold that marriage is a good thing, and if two people want to marry they should be allowed to, it does nothing for the country defining it as between man and woman…political parties should not be playing the social politics game, the world is not some kind of social experiment where we elect a black president just because we haven’t had one…doesn’t matter who he is, a muslim liberal bent on pushing his agenda; moreso we should look for someone who is willing to protect the constitution of the united states and the freedoms and protections that it provides.

  44. 2399molly says

We did vote against gay marriage and look what happened, it was overturned by Judges who favor the dims.

  45. Merienne Lynch says

I must say that any Republican that want the LORD to back them up in the poles are going to lose when they go directly against the LORD where abortion and same sex marriage is concerned. Two cannot walk together lest they be agreed. If you agree with the enemy of your soul on one issue you might as well approve every evil thing out there because you will be counted with the devil in the sight of God. Foolish, ignorant of the truth gives the LORD Himself permission to send you strong delusion so that you may believe a lie because you do not receive the love of the truth. You settle the question for me should I stay a Republican or not. NO!!!

  46. armydadtexas says

If the GOP splits or splinters, it won’t be just because of homosexual marriage. It will be because, the GOP establishment has turned into democ-RAT lite. Boehner is not a leader. He is one of Obama’s yes men! He and Mitch McConnell are both spineless, eunochs, who roll over and pee on themselves whenever Oblow-hole yells JUMP. Boehner and McConnell would prefer to ATTACK CONSERVATIVES and Conservative Groups, then standing up aganst a repressive regime, like the O-blow hole Regime. I wll vote GOP this mid-term, because a politician I trust, TED CRUZ asked me too. After this though, there best be some serious soul searching and apologies coming from the Republican Leadership. That or I like MANY CONSERVATIVES WILL GO ELSEWHERE and the GOP and fkg shrivel up on the vine. Because right now, they are one FECKLESS Political Party. With Boehner and McConnell at the helm, that is where they will remain. Time to CLEAN SOME HOUSE

  47. USCBIKER says

Fine, let God throw the queers into a lake of fire or whatever else He has in mind. What Huckabee (who has no f***ing shot at the WH) and the rest of these “God fearing” idiots need to do is get their heads out of their a$$e$ and realize if they stay home it’ll only be worse and the buttifucation of America will proceed even faster. Let the LGBT freaks think they’re “married”, who cares? The idea a 3rd partry will do anything but GUARANTEE a permanent Democrat run nation is as asinine as the morons who support it! The Dems are too robotic and the parasite-guilt ridden idiot bond can never be broken. If we don’t stick together and realize it took the Left decades of incremental degradation to destroy the nation, we’ll never win again and are doomed to be ruled by these POS scumbags forever.

  48. stephanie wilson says

what pisses me off is that we have judges overturning the will of the people!! gay marriage is an abomination. if that is considererd hate, than so be it.!! i stand w/ huckabee. i refuse to compromise my values to be popular, damn it!! this would not be an issue if we didnt have 3 rinos vote against the fed marriage amendment bush tried to pass! we were so close too! i do not want to go independant. i love my party. but if repubs betray our party platform, i will

  49. Charles Hargrave says

Rick Rogers,if you’ll take a look at what Obama has done to our nation you’ll change your mind,
at this moment he’s refusing to stop flights from Africa where Ebola is killing people and they’re coming here because of him,he refuses to send our troops to destroy ISIS and they’ll be here next if we don’t stop them,he’s a failure and we are going to suffer because of it.

  50. tiredofboetal says

Reading about the possible split of the Republican party…this Bible verse has often come to mind….
“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

So for all those who feel that the discussion of gay marriage and all those other liberal-touted ideas, what good will it do if you get your votes but lose out with God????
