Cowboys Join Expanding List of “Racist and Sexist” Things in Modern America

The University of Wyoming has suddenly discovered that there is literally no escape from the Political Correctness mob. With their new marketing slogan – “The world needs more cowboys” – the university has managed to attract the ire of feminists, race-baiting profiteers, and outrage-driven millennials who have yet to find an innocent phrase they can’t turn into a point of tumult.

According to Reuters, the slogan has angered Native American groups, feminist activists, and faculty members.

“Honestly, I thought it was a joke at first,” Professor Ellen Currano said in an interview with the Chronicle of Higher Education. “And then I looked it up on the university web page and saw that no, this was, in fact, serious.”

How remarkable: That was our first reaction as well! Not to the slogan, but to the idea that people were actually outraged by it.

To be honest, though, that’s not true. In a world where a clothing company had to pull a “Boys Will Be Boys” pajama top off the market, this is just par for the course. We knew from the moment we saw it that this cowboy thing wasn’t a joke, because the left transcended parody a long time ago. That goes double for leftists anywhere near an American college campus.

As you may or may not be aware, the university did not just pull this slogan out of thin air. The University of Wyoming’s mascot and team name IS the Cowboys. So this slogan is perfectly in line with everything the school’s marketing is geared towards. When they say “the world needs more cowboys,” they are saying the world needs more University of Wyoming graduates. You would think that would be obvious to all parties concerned.

Instead, we have this nonsense:

“If you’re not a white person,” said cultural specialist Darrell Hutchinson, “and especially if you’re an Indian, it would make you feel out of place – it wouldn’t make you feel too good about yourself.”

Well, here’s a clue, Darrell: If you’re depending on a university’s marketing slogan to make you feel good about yourself, you might want to rethink your life.

Sadly, “thinking” – especially about one’s own life – is not a liberal’s strong suit. It used to be that universities existed to boost that skill. We’re not exactly sure why they exist these days. Apparently as incubators for the next generation of whiny Americans.
