NASCAR Owners: Don’t Even THINK About Protesting Anthem

561

The NFL may be ready to sacrifice their entire business model on the altar of the liberal movement, but at least one sports organization appears to know where their bread is buttered. Several NASCAR team owners spoke out about the growing national anthem protests enveloping the NFL on Sunday, saying they would not tolerate any similar demonstrations from their racers.

Those who attended the Monster Energy event in New Hampshire certainly did not see the kind of anti-American nonsense that thousands of football fans witnessed from New England to…well, actual England. And according to owners like the legendary Richard Petty, that will be the way it remains.

“Anybody that don’t stand up for the anthem ought to be out of the country,” Petty told the Associated Press. “Period. What got ‘em where they’re at? The United States.”

The AP also spoke to Richard Childress, who said that any racer on his team who knelt for the national anthem would have to get a ride home on a Greyhound.

“Anybody that works for me should respect the country we live in,” Childress said. “So many people gave their lives for it. This is America.”

This could very well be the opening NASCAR needs to eclipse football as America’s number one pro sport. That would have been hard to imagine only a few short years ago, but after Sunday’s league-wide disgrace, anything’s possible. We’re not sure the NFL powers-that-be really have any idea what they’ve gotten themselves into. This is not one untalented quarterback and a handful of players who think they’re standing up for a cause. This has become Trump vs. the NFL, and Trump just happens to be standing on the side of the American flag. Does the NFL really want to stand on the other side?

The palpable rage could be felt throughout social media on Monday. Memorably, a Steelers fan named Robert Williams posted a video on YouTube where he took all of his NFL merchandise and burned it in an outdoor pit.

“We have morals in this country,” Williams said in the video. “We stand for this country. My great uncle’s bones are lying in the bottom of Pearl Harbor. For this country. For the flag. For your freedom to play in the NFL and to say whatever you want to say. But you do not disrespect the flag and the country and the Constitution. So watch this stuff burn.”

Not everyone who feels like Williams does will go to such great lengths. Many will simply stop watching the games, stop coming out to the stadiums, and stop buying the jerseys and the posters.

The NFL has badly misread this situation and they’ve drastically underestimated just how many patriots are disgusted by these demonstrations. They’ll learn soon enough. But soon enough may be too late to salvage anything of worth.

Anyone who will not stand for the flag should be fired and deported out of the country. It makes me sick to see what is happening in the NFL.

Stupid post. In this country we have freedom of expression. You have the right not to like it, but your suggestion on what to do with the protesters is infantile, befitting of a simpleton.

      1. tCotUS says

You’re right we do have freedom of expression ..BUT NOT while wearing someone else’s uniform which in turn brings you National Attention..If you want to protest fine, do it on your own FN time….

        1. ernldo says

We also have the right to protest protesters, and free speech to tell the poor oppressed millionaire dullards to stuff it….

          1. tCotUS says

            Absolutely !!

AMEN and you are absolutely right

What do you do when the owner joins the idiots as in jerry jones of the cowboys?

          1. GrizzMann says

The owners own the teams. They set the tone. Put their players in uniforms. and the players do what the owners tell them to do.

          2. royaler says

Not always, the NFL is full of egotistic macho men, & they have a tendancy to do whatever they want to do.

          3. An American says

We can stand up against these egotistic macho men by black balling their games and turning off the TV and don’t buy anything with their names on, such as T-shirts. They will soon be off the field and won’t have big money coming in to support them. I have no tears for them.

          4. GrizzMann says

Is there a penalty for wearing the wrong socks or cleats with messages or head bands with opinions on them?

          5. Lisa Meyer says

Only if His Highness Goodell says so.

          6. royaler says

Just right, & to take a knee for prayer was banned as well, it ain’t fair but again thats what you get when you have liberals running the show.

          7. Lisa Meyer says

Did one of them wear a red and gold jersey with the name “Kaepernick” on the back of it?
Didnt work out too well for him, did it? LOL. I hope many others join him in the unemployment line soon, and the Nazi Football League fades into history. I wont miss it a bit. I LOVE NASCAR!

          8. Lisa Meyer says

A lot of the owners are Dem pussocrats, then!

          9. An American says

The owners will find that the public resents paying a lot of money to go and enjoy a football game and have to watch these losers do their protesting. If they don’t like America then get out and go make your millions somewhere else. I’m sure there are other players just waiting to take their place out there on the field. When the owners start loosing money they will change their minds. I will not watch the football games on TV where protesting is being allowed.

          10. John says

My father was offered a pro football position during WWII and he said no I have to go protect this country.

          11. An American says

John, your father is the type of hero’s we need today. Bless you and your family

          12. royaler says

American, thats the way to get the point across is to get into their pocket, but its really a liberal way of protesting trump, & I think they do hate our country the pricks.

          13. Lisa Meyer says

I have not watched any games since Krapperdick pulled his stunt last year. And two of my favorite teams are dead to me now. I can’t believe Pete Carroll allowed the Seattle Seahawks to remain in the locker room during the Natl. Anthem!
            DEAD TO ME!

          15. Lisa Meyer says

Jerry Jones and the Cowboys took a knee BEFORE the solemnity of the Anthem, and then stood and locked arms during it. Jones has told his team that NO ONE will take a knee during the Anthem. I’m ok with that. To me, the locking of arms is a show of solidarity for ALL of the football players, not just the rabble-rousers. They are doing that to show President Trump that they stand together against him calling some players SOBs. I agree with the premise of what Trump said. But he went to far with the SOB comment. His point could have been made without it.

      2. JC says

I would say that you are the simpleton

      3. Garden_Goddess says

Needle Dick, you are trying to suppress freedom of expression.

      4. Tired... says

While I agree with you that people have the right to express their opinion and should not be deported for doing so, this athlete-driven nonsense disrespects everyone, including those of their own race, who fought and died for their freedom to protest.

However it is difficult to read your condemnation of Dan’s post as being infantile when you responded to another post with the following:

“Methinks you and E are jealous because you because you also accept the racial stereotype that they have bigger johnsons than you and you need “phallic compensation devices” to make up for your lack of manhood. My fellow progressives will know what I mean by phallic compensation devices..”

Other readers can evaluate for themselves which comment is more infantile.

        1. KingDon says

  2. JWH (NRA LIFE) says

Political demonstrations serve no purpose during “THE NATIONAL ANTHEM”, and create further division and “WORTHLESS BS TALK”!!! Tell “THE BLACKS” to stop selling drugs, killing one another on the streets, Rioting and destroying property, and killing police officers; and maybe they will receive more respect in the future!!! The “MINORITY COMMUNITIES ” desire “SPECIAL CONDITIONS AND TREATMENT” that they have not earned at any time in the past!!! 1. Tiger says

Then you want to see this and you want to get it out there and fast.

My jaw hit the floor when I heard the news.

Coming directly from the U.N.’s own website, I was furious to find out
that the second largest direct funder of their global gun ban is
American taxpayers like you and me.

Figures going back to the Obama administration show hundreds of
thousands of dollars coming from our own government towards promoting
        the U.N.’s “Small Arms Treaty.”

And sadly, those funds haven’t slowed down since President Trump has taken office.

Could it just be oversight? Or could it be entrenched holdovers from the
Obama administration willfully blocking President Trump from knowing
        this is going on?

Either way, it is unacceptable that we are continuing to fund this global gun ban.

If fully implemented in the United States, our Second Amendment would be put on life support, and it would take years to undo the damage.

That’s why I’m counting on you to support the National Association for Gun Rights’ “Defund the UN Gun Ban Ad Blitz.”

Their goal is to raise $125,000 by Thursday, September 28th.

With those funds, they are going to run an ad blitz designed to get
the attention of President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Rex
        Tillerson.

Everything from mail and email, to state-of-the-art online programs
designed to identify and mobilize Second Amendment supporters, will be
        utilized.

But a program like this will cost a lot of money, and that’s why I’m emailing you today.

I really don’t know what you can afford, but I’m hoping you help out my
good friends at the National Association for Gun Rights by digging deep
to help fund their vital program.

Perhaps once I explain why this is such an important cause, you’ll even consider giving $100.

You see, the anti-gun global elites are breathing a sigh of relief.

Even with their anti-gun cheerleader Hillary Clinton not in the
presidency, they are able to keep their yearly check courtesy of the
U.S. taxpayer — which they are using to work towards global implementation of the Treaty.

In fact, the anti-gun global elites just got back from a posh set of
meetings in Geneva, Switzerland, where they schemed about ways to
        implement their anti-gun agenda world-wide.

They know that as long as U.S. money keeps flooding in and our signature stays intact they will have their way eventually.

And even if implementation isn’t possible under President Trump, they
are fully prepared to wait for someone like (God forbid) Senator
Elizabeth Warren to take over the White House.

In the meantime, they can get by on the hundreds of thousands in U.S. funds they will accumulate by then.

And one important way to slow them down is immediately cutting off our funds to the U.N.’s “Small Arms Treaty.”

Frankly, I think President Trump would be wise to cut off a lot, maybe
even all, funding to the United Nations given its long history of
        anti-American activity . . . but that’s a subject for another day.

Today, I hope you will stand with me in at least cutting off U.S. funding for the U.N.’s global gun ban scheme.

        So
please click here and chip in to help the National Association for Gun
Rights raise $125,000 for their Ad Blitz by this Thursday.

After reading through the details of the Treaty, it’s hard to see how our Second Amendment could survive such an assault.

Perhaps the worst of the Treaty’s provisions can be found in Article
V, which mandates countries establish a “National Control List” — or a
        NATIONAL GUN REGISTRATION database!

You and I both know gun registration is just the first step toward outright CONFISCATION.

And the U.N. is already plotting their next step — developing new “International Small Arms Control Standards” (ISACS).

Their goal is to impose these radical anti-gun initiatives on every
nation who signs the U.N. “Small Arms Treaty.” Introductory language
        already includes:

        *** Mandated national “screening” for all persons seeking to own guns, giving bureaucrats the final say on whether or not you’re “competent” enough to own a gun;

*** Restrictive licensing for gun and ammo sales, and perhaps even bans on certain types of firearms. This could include anything from semi-auto rifles to shotguns to handguns!

        *** Restrictions on the number of guns and amount of ammo any “properly-licensed” individual may legally own;

        *** Bans on magazines holding more than ten rounds;

*** Bans on owning a firearm for self-defense — unless a citizen can somehow demonstrate need and get federal government approval.
        And
with U.S. funding continuing to support this treaty, the global
anti-gun elites are convinced that the U.S. will come on board with full
        implementation.

As one anti-gun world leader stated:

“[W]e expect the U.S. to abide by the Treaty even if ratification will take some time.”

That’s why the immediate defunding of this treaty is so important, and why I asked you to make such a generous contribution.

So please click here and make a generous contribution of $100 to NAGR’s “Defund the U.N. Gun Ban Ad Blitz” right away!

But if $100 is just too much for you at this time, I understand. The
only reason I am asking for so much is because I know first-hand, as a
U.S. Senator, just how effective the National Association for Gun Rights
        is.

Every cent they receive goes directly towards protecting and restoring the Second Amendment in our great country.

        So
please consider digging deep, whether that be giving $100, $50, or $20
it will be much appreciated, and will make a huge difference.

Whatever you give, I would just like to thank you for your dedication to liberty, and the Second Amendment.

        For Freedom,

        Rand Paul

        United Stated Senator (R-KY)

P.S. I was shocked and angered to find out that the United Nation’s
“Small Arms Treaty” is largely funded by U.S. tax payers like you and me.

That’s more than every country in the world with the exception of Japan.

Tiger you amaze me girl! If I wasn’t already married I’d ask you to! A very historically accurate book you should read is a David Hackett Fischer book titled Paul Revere’s Ride. In it there is speculation the first shot fired was from a British officer mounted on a rather spirited horse who had his flint lock pistol drawn and cocked. Those old flintlock pistols didn’t have a trigger guard and the thinking is he had an negligent discharge as his horse was misbehaving and the British regulars began firing their muskets? As the patriot I know you are, I think you’ll find it an very informative book and enjoy the read! God bless!

          3. Tiger says

Well thank you if I were not married I might look you up. I will look into the book. Now news on Paddock. We all knew this reporting on him stunk to high heavens making him so bland. No connections to any religion, no politics, no voting record, no nothing but there was plenty and the team that found him, two officers now telling the truth, he returned fire on the teams that found him and they shot him. He had antifa literature in his room, that explains chosing to kill country music fans, like I said from the start, why them well this would explain it.

This country beginning to look a lot like Europe in the news. They don’t tell truth either, I can see why any ties to Antifa would rile the Left up, they are Antifa and the Resistance. We are at war for real in this country.

Liberalism is a mental disorder that is developed and encouraged in our liberal minded progressive public school systems. Local communities need to manage and operate our schools and we need to get back to teaching rather than indoctrinating our children with liberal propaganda. We have allowed our schools to become child care centers run by liberal propagandist.

They make an enemy out of a particular group and use them as a scapegoat and target them as the reason the world isn’t going their way Jews/white male conservatives. The parallels are remarkable. Antifa are actually their own enemy because they are the fascists’ “useful idiots”

URWorstNightnare – You may plan to try and finish what Hitler couldn’t, but I assure you as a Jew, we are not your grandfathers Jews. We will be watching your every move and probably have you indicted and convicted before you even get out of your mothers basement. CA made residents register all weapons. Then they physically went after them, AR15’s etc. We are a hairs breath from this in the USA.

my state Oregon and their bi sex governor, just passed a law where if you” feel uncomfortable, or feel threatened by someone” , you can go to the police station, fill out a paper , and they will come and take your guns…But Oregon and Washington are really northern California..

What has the governor’s sexual orientation have to do with either gun control or taking a knee during the national anthem? You are only showing your own prejudice, bigotry and stupidity.

And you’re only proving that you are an traitorous idiot that needs to strung up by a rope!!!

          42. Dann Dobson says

NRApatriot – You call yourself a Patriot, but because I write something you disagree with you say I should be killed, “strung up by a rope”. You my friend would fit in perfectly with Isis or Al Quida because that is what they do, kill people who speak out against them.

It is your group, the NRA, that you proudly boast about being a member of that is responsible for this terrible massacre.

The NRA and their Republican supporters in Congress allowed this to happen. The NRA has opposed all background checks on individuals, the NRA has opposed limits on semi-automatic and automatic weapons, the NRA has opposed limits on magazine size.

NRApatriot man up and admit that the blood of this massacre is on your hands and every other NRA member who has opposed reasonable limits on automatic weapons.

          43. NRApatriot says

You are a delusional fool who like ALL other radical progressive democrats (sweeter name than communist) are nothing less than traitors! Yes, you and everyone with your brainwashed mindset needs to hung until graveyard dead! Don’t waste ammo, just hang you!

          45. Debbie Bowman says

Obviously you don’t really have clue as to the real meaning of NRA. Run your your big lips a little bit more get educated or shut up

          46. Dann Dobson says

By your obscene little comment you show you are a little woman who has very little intelligence. But let’s look at what the NRA has done, or rather what they have opposed. The NRA has opposed every sensible piece of legislation that would stop gun violence. They have opposed bands on fully automatic weapons, they have opposed limits on magazine size, they have opposed micro labeling of bullets. And you sit with a straight face and you say that the NRA is not behind gun massacres. You should read a little more instead of cussing people

          47. Dann Dobson says

USN Vet that is a lie and I don’t know if you’re deliberately perpetrating it are trying to scare people. California does not have gun registration.

          48. NRApatriot says

From my cold fingers brother patriot!

          49. Grassroots says

Why does any civilian need an AR15? Hunting bear? Hunting buffalo? Hunting people? I pray we DO register every frigging gun in the United States. Including all of yours.

          50. USN Vet 31yrs Svc says

No one needs an AR-15. Hobbyists may like to enjoy the range. what about assault amonium nitrate, that can be bought at any home depot, Loews, etc? I personnally think all assault rider type trucks should be banded. One took down a federal building killing far more than Vegas. I think we need to ban assualt private aircraft. One bent on mass distruction & suicide could have done far more damage in Vegas than an AR15. He was a private pilot. We also need to ban assault suv’s, a nut case can do massive harm. if there were no windows in the hotel, this incident in Vegas would not have happened. Instead of an AR15, he could have taken down the whole hotel with the bombs he manufactured. He certainly had the time. No one to stop free movement in and out of the hotel. Anyone bent on mass distruction will find a way. Eliminate the AR, they will replace with assault something or other. Guns are a great investment, they do not lose value like the dollar bill. This wack job will be found to have been a terrorist or a total mental misfit.

          51. Grassroots says

Hobbyists obviously need to find a new hobby. The vegas killer bought 33 guns in the space of a year. Nobody needs 33 guns. If they had all been registered when they were purchased, that might have raised a red flag and an alert to authorities that this guy was stockpiling weapons. Obviously, people aren’t going to be stockpiling SUVs or airplanes. That’s an idiotic comparison. I don’t fear the government taking away anybody’s frigging guns. I fear the self-righteous, deluded, conspiracy-theory 2nd-amendment fools who feel the need to purchase guns in the first place, other than hunters who process and eat the game they kill.

          52. Joseph R. Davis says

Actually, Dave, they came looking to confiscate POWDER and a CANNON. Without powder, a musket is just a big club.

          2. Ribert Koonce says

Actually , Obama signed signed the ,U.N. small arnd treaty in 2014 I believe, it just wasn’t made public until late 2015. I signed the first NRA petition against it , I think it was November of 2015.

          3. Tiger says

Amazing isn’t it that Trump has not addressed it yet, but my guess is he will , nothing much gets passed him, I don’t think he sleeps an Adrenalin junky and thank God he is.

          4. Ribert Koonce says

Yes ma’am I find it interesting that he hasn’t. I understand that campaign promises need to be met, but wasn’t protecting the 2nd Amendment one of those promises?

          14. Maritime Maggie says

Careful what you say about the British this time around. Did you know that at a protest rally against the Muslim invasion of Britain that the Britain First (Political Party) supporters recently took to the streets chanting, “We love Trump”? Just view the YouTube videos put out by Britain First and you will see why they sympathize with their brothers in the U.S. Wait until Queen Elizabeth passes on and the Throne of England (Throne of David) is up for grabs. That is when all the real trouble begins causing Britain and the U.S. to join forces to fight the same devils as Scripture says they are Biblical Israelite Brothers–Britain is Ephraim and the U.S. is Manasseh. It is all going to become ‘a family matter’.

          1. Tiger says

Welcome and I donated also, we will see what happens.

        5. Dann Dobson says

So my question is for you, how did this gun not in Las Vegas carry so many guns rifles into a hotel and nobody stopped him? Go read the Second Amendment again. It does not say that anybody can own any number of weapons. It says a well regulated militia. Gun nuts like you have totally distorted the intent of the Second Amendment. It was far a militia not for every Tom Dick and Harry to own as many guns as they want. It is time to stop the gun violence in this country and restrict the right of people to own a gun, unless they are a member of a militia.

          1. Tiger says

You are forgetting all the Muslims attacks? You haven’t been concerned when Muslims have guns? Your Obama the filthy bastard said Muslim’s have gun rights also and said it was OK for them to practice killing us at Training Camps across America. You forgot Pulse? 49 killed and all the wounded? Or talk about crazies where were you when the Ult Left guy went on a shooting spree and tried to kill Republicans on the baseball field?

Wrong it is not time for any such thing you call for and I have the 2nd Amendment right on, here are the Founding Fathers on that very subject to straighten your ass out and remember guns don’t kill people, people kill people, for only the military or government to have guns never ends well for the people and in this day and age, with Ult Left Loons calling for death to Whitey and perpetrating violence and rioting since the elections and after, you will play Hell taking guns away from Americans.

Wow, Tiger! I see what you’re doing there. Heaven forbid we deny people the privilege of buying guns so they can use them to kill other people. Every citizen ought to be allowed to purchase as many guns as they can afford. And use them wherever they want. Especially on crowds of people. And those magazines that hold more than ten rounds? Semi-automatic rifles? Yep, Brilliant.

      2. Dann Dobson says

Wow, so you’re an NRA lifer. One of your gun nut friends just killed 50 people in Las Vegas. When are we going to start limiting gun violence by white Christian men?

People are FINALLY wising up and call them as they see them. In MY opinion it seems ALL “politicians” from BOTH “parties” are INDEED out for two things. REELECTION, and as much TAXPAYER MONEY as they can accumulate. This whole “congress” thing is just like a hollyweird movie, full of “actors” trying to make “WE THE PEOPLE” believe that they are actually doing something for US and the country, when all they are doing is grubbing for more and more MONEY, while laughing behind our backs (behind closed doors) at how they are succeeding at screwing the AMERICAN PEOPLE every day.

Apparently you don’t know much about the English language neither.

      12. G.Mann says

In my military unit, our “phallic compensation device” was a roller skate… so the “Pallic” wouldn’t drag on the ground.
Every “progressive” I’ve ever met belonged to the “Anthony Wiener Teeny Weeny Club”. Water seeks it’s own level… you chose yours.

      13. JWH (NRA LIFE) says

Your comment indicates your ignorance, and that you are a “FOOLISH TROLL”, with nothing worthwhile to say!!! Go “PLAY WITH YOURSELF”!!!

    3. Francis VanDevender says

Could not have said it better myself !!!!! Thanks for your input,But these bleeding hearts out there will think you are racist,BUT you speak the truth.

      1. pappy450 says

Pitiful isn’t it? “racist” seems to be the only word these COMMUNISTS utter as they continue to be bent on the destruction of our Country and values and follow in the steps of OSCUMBAG the gay mooslime fraud and his democommie “minions” to turn OUR country into a third world craphole. I, for one think that the “race card” is worn out, and should be thrown out of the deck.

        1. John says

Lets stop the talk saying afro american or should we start saying White American or True American whenever we speak

          1. Ribert Koonce says

I’ve heard that in a few places , will someone please tell me when the law was passed outlawing the use of the word nigger? And if so, why aren’t the majority of them in jail? They use the word more than any whites I know.

          2. DJA Lindsey says

I grew up in a poor family living in neighborhoods on the other-other side of the tracks. My mother always taught us that a ‘nigger’ was a low-down, good-for- nothing worthless person…….nothing to do with COLOR!! We lived next door to some real white-trash niggers in my childhood.

          3. scootertrash197 says

yes there IS A DIFERANCE between a nigger and a black man ,, a black man is a educated kind WORKING respectable person ,,a nigger is the ones who have their pants pulled down so their ass hangs out , drug dealers, uneducated NO RESPECT FOR ANYONE, CANT SPEAK ENGLISH ,AXEING PEOPLE NOT ASKING,SPEAKING GHETTO …..”BIG DIFFERANCES”

          4. Ribert Koonce says

That’s what I was always taught, the word knows no color boundary, yet now it’s all of a sudden supposed to be a Black word and if a white person uses it, it’s racist? And having spent some time in jail, I can attest to the fact that color really has nothing to do with it.

          5. Susan Scott says

Everything a white person does is racist. I don’t understand it because so many blacks and whites are married today, I’ve always wondered how they handle that in their homes.

          6. Ribert Koonce says

I don’t know, my late wife was of Mexican/Native American heritage, I have grandkids that are half black, half oriental, yet they call me a racist. So I came up with a snied remark for when they do. I simy tell them, I’m not a racist, I hate everybody equally.
It was rather funny, we were all gathered at a rally a while back, and were approached by group of young black kids, and they tried to get my great grand daughter to leave with them because she was “hangin”with cracker racists. I never saw a bunch of mixed kids stand up and literally chase off that batch of black kids, 3 generations giving those other kids a lesson on who the real racist were.
            Proud old man that day.

          7. Linda Abernathy says

I personally never say the word because its degrading, same goes for cracker.

          8. Burnerjack says

“If the shoe fits, wear it.” If somebody doesn’t want to be called ‘nigger’ of even thought of as a ‘nigger’, the biggest step they can take is to not act or present themselves to the world as such. They tried to outlaw ‘disdain’ instead of just acting respectful and ‘likeable’.
My heart goes out to those that do all they can to be respectable, only to be saddled with the negative stereotypes perpetuated by the miscreants in their demographic.

          9. Gary Belich says

            GOOD POINT

          10. Lisa Meyer says

Pretty much like all GOOD cops being disrespected because of the nano-fraction of bad ones among them, eh?

          11. Burnerjack says

Yes. Both need to make it clear that they do not support the bad apples.
One difference though: the Media seems all too willing the crucify the good cop caught in bad optics and give the criminal Savage a pass just because of race

          12. Lisa Meyer says

The other difference is that police departments across the country investigate the bad apples, but usually don’t make the results public, which makes it hard for the public to know whether or not they support the bad apples or not. A police agency is just like any other employer. Despite the thorough background checks, some bad people always manage to slip through.
And I can tell you from personal experience that the media will ALWAYS look for some sensationalism to report on than the actual story. And if they cant find it, they make it up.
How much press was given to the two ambushes of NYPD police officers, and how many months did the press cover the Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown shootings? The media have been anti-police for years, and will always paint them in a bad light, no matter that the criminals were the instruments of their own deaths.

          13. Gary Belich says

WHERE DOES THE TERM “CRACKER” COME FROM ANYWAYS?

          14. DeLaun Fifield says

from the historic idea of “cracking” a whip…True Story

          15. Ribert Koonce says

What do you put in your soup? Lol Flat table bisciuts
            Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.

          16. Linda Abernathy says

            Dumplins

          17. Ribert Koonce says

I’ll have to remember that one. Lol

          18. Southerngirl says

You are exactly right; DJA Lindsey. NIGGER can be a black or white person. Mexican or whatever. Because that word means LAZY and no good trash. And we have lots of them in all colors. BOTTOM LINE!!!

          19. Susan Scott says

It exactly, it even tells you that in the dictionary.

          20. Susan Scott says

I have too in my lifetime, so I totally understand

          21. Gary Belich says

I HAVE ALWAYS SAID THAT I DON’T LIKE NIGGERS AND I DON’T CARE WHAT COLOR THEY ARE.

          22. Joseph R. Davis says

Then you realize that there are far more “white niggers,” than black ones.

          23. Gary Belich says

YEP …AND MOST OF THE TIME THEY’RE WORSE….ALOT OF TIMES THEY HAVE THAT THEY’RE HOLIER THAN ATTITUDE…AND THEY’RE NOT

          24. ernldo says

Its not illegal, just socially unacceptable…Oddly though, I’ve been called that “N” word quite a lot in my youth, end EVERY time by a black..so you are correct!
Maybe more honest if we begin calling them, “Hypocrite american”….

          25. Ribert Koonce says

            That works for me

          26. Linda Abernathy says

They would find something wrong with that too.

          27. Linda Abernathy says

            Nigger – Wikipedia
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigger
In the present-day English language, the word nigger is an ethnic slur, usually directed at black …. 1970s the term was generally regarded as racist, offensive and potentially illegal along with “nig-nog”, and “golliwog”. ….. Fuhrman excused his use of the word saying he used nigger in the context of his “bad cop” persona.

          28. Ribert Koonce says

Yes ma’am, I known the Wikipedia definition. Having lived through the 60’s forward, I realize the different connotations of the word. That still doesn’t point to a written law making it’s use illegal, nor does it automatically hand it’s use over to one ethnic group with the impunity. That is just about as racist as it gets……

          29. Susan Scott says

That’s the perfect answer. I too have a black niece and sometimes the situation can get sticky because I’m not a racist until those who call me that push my buttons. I believe that word is way over used by people and it’s beginning to lose it affect.

          30. Linda Abernathy says

I never said it was illegal! In fact I never have used the term

          31. Ribert Koonce says

I understand that, but if you go back and read the post of the oerson I was responding to, they said the use of the word was illegal. And you responded to me with the Wikipedia definition. I then responded to your definition with my response. Nothing personal against you, but sometimes that happens when you come in on the middle of a conversation. As I said, nothing personal against you.

          32. Linda Abernathy says

I did say that it’s not right that they call each that word though.

          33. Susan Scott says

Amen to that. They teach their kids to use the N-word as well as the F word. The white kids in daycare don’t understand why they can’t use the same words that the blacks do.

          34. Gary Belich says

            FOR SURE

          35. Phil M. says

            Absolutely the truth.

          36. Linda Abernathy says

It is not illegal to say it! They say it to each other all the time, something I never could quite understand.

          37. Christine Green says

They are not Americans, they want to be seperated and be called “African Americans” which there shouldn’t be such thing, you are either one or the other!!!!! But never both!!!!

          38. Susan Scott says

That phrase ended years ago when they decide they want to be called black. So no more African-American.

          39. Ron Scales Sr. says

Did someone write that for you, or are you really that dumb? When a race of people were stolen from their lands, stripped of their culture, religion, names and everything else I believe they have the right to respectfully be referred to in their preferred way. After all, it wasn’t like there’s ever been a welcome party for them and the names they were called were created by white people. So, Because they want self determination on their heritage they’re unpatriotic huh? One day soon your race of people will be taught a lesson for all of your hypocritical sins and wrong doings. Better practice your Chinese,Hindi, Swahili and Spanish..

          40. Glenn Trail says

Ron Scales sr I take it that you have never been robbed be a gang of blacks with guns and knives. I rest my case.

          41. Ribert Koonce says

Have you not studied history? Most of the blacks were sold as slaves here in this country weren’t stolen from.their lands. They were capture invaders(spoils of war) and criminals (theives, murders, and such)
Granted, there were some who were sold to get rid of their claims to lands and whatever, but they were not the norm. You make it sound as tho there were Gangs of Dutch, Spanish and whoever else combing the country sides of Africa hunting innocent folks to enslave. That, would be historically inaccurate. Slavery was an accepted practice amongst the tribal warlords of Africa long before the white man ever set foot on the continent. As a matter of historical record, the white man was rather new to slave game. That was and has been a part of African and Middle Eastern life as long as written records exist. To claim that slavery was a white man’s invention , IS a factual preface for stupidity.

          42. Gary Belich says

IF I WANT TO SAY “NIGGER” I’M GONNA SAY IT AND DON’T GIVE A SHIT WHAT ANYBODY THINKS….SOCIETY THINKS THEY CAN CHANGE CENTURIES OF RACISM JUST BY SAYING ” DON’T DO THAT OR SAY THAT,BECAUSE IT’S A BAD WORD” . CHANGE HAS TO BE DONE GRADUALLY AND EARNED AND NOT FORCED ON ANYONE…..AND IF YOU DON’T LIKE THAT …THEN TOO BAD!

          43. USN Vet 31yrs Svc says

            Hyphenated Americans should be outlawed.

          44. denoferth says

Exactly what Teddy Roosevelt said many years ago.

“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all.”

“This is just as true of the man who puts “native” before the hyphen as of
the man who puts German or Irish or English or French before the hyphen.
Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance.”

“But if he is heartily and singly loyal to this Republic, then no matter
where he was born, he is just as good an American as any one else.”

“The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of
preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all,
would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities,
an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-
            Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian- Americans, or
Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at
heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality than with
the other citizens of the American Republic.”

“The men who do not become Americans and nothing else are hyphenated
Americans; and there ought to be no room for them in this country. The
man who calls himself an American citizen and who yet shows by his
actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a
thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has
no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels
his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good
            American.”

The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

I agree..We had the democommies/rinos,the gay mooslime fraud so-called “president” and his man-wife, the dnc, soros, his minions, and hitlery along with all their minions continually LYING for years, and yet, STILL not held accountable even though it was “PROVEN” ALL were lying constantly to further their COMMUNIST, GLOBALIST, “agenda”
BUT as they say, you got to watch out for those pesky VIDEOTAPES that always seem to come back to haunt them when they state “I didn’t say that”

          2. Harold says

Like the large crowds at Trump’s Inauguration, ‘Crooked Hillary’, ‘Lying Ted’, ‘Little Mario’, the Muslims in North Jersey celebrating 9 11, Benghazi, Hillary using a personal email account ( like much of Trump’s staff), Obama’s a Muslim not born in the United States, the main stream media’s lying or are fake news… Keep repeating this ‘Fake News’ and people who want to believe it, do.

          3. ernldo says

        5. Dann Dobson says

Pappy get over Obama! He hasn’t been President for nine months. It is your boy Trump who is in charge now. And how are progressives trying to ruin this country? By trying to keep guns out of the hands of idiots like this fool in Las Vegas who just killed 50 people.

          Pappy
          I agree with you wholeheartedly.
The ‘race’ word has been flung around so much and so loosely I think half of the people that say it don’t even know the true meaning of it.
          Sickening.

      2. Franie says

If you’ve noticed…the “bleeding hearts” in society are the uninformed dimwits who have not EARNED the right to open their collective mouths!!! They’re also the very same people who DEMAND society, that’s the WORKING society, give them freebies….phones, housing, food, etc. Until these moronic dimwits get a clue that their lifestyles are causing these societal ills, then and only then, will their station in life improve when they LEARN to RESPECT not only themselves, but AUTHORITY as well. A functioning society mandates adherence to the Law of the Land, NOT the law of the jungle!!!!

    4. morrow says

Respecting the men in blue don’t work when you are black, period. You see what happen to the D.A in a Florida city when the cop pulled her over. So enough already.

      2. Astrolpdc says

But the the sense of entitlement is constant in all of the actions and attitudes. Was already there … “we are descended from Kings and Queens” mentality has only gotten worse with 8 years of the Obamination. It is the sense of privilege and the accompanying ‘tude’ that lead to issues, not racism.

      3. Southerngirl says

Yes it does work. So you NEED to quit using that EXCUSE. BOTTOM LINE!!!

      4. Ribert Koonce says

You know something, when 1e% if a population is responsible for 50% of crime in a country, that 13% should really shut up until they get that number under control. But if you care to read my other posts, you might gain a little insight into the problem. Once again, it wasn’t the best and brightest that were sold into slavery
It was conquered invaders and criminals. Those who acted like animals against their race. Unfortunately, those who bought those animals, forgot one thing, a rabid dog has to be put down lest it infect the rest of the pack.

        1. Ribert Koonce says

Isn’t that playing into the Communist viewpoint? Where would you draw the line, jaywalking, speeding, forgetting to hit your blinker,( it is an illegal lane change after all). I’m some xities, it’s illegal to put your trash out the night before pick up, and I’m guessing by the term “Eliminate”, you mean kill.
Be very careful how you voice things, like things wished for, you might get what uou want, and find yourself in a noise for something extremely petty. Just an observation.

If each one of them would get together or with a couple of others and set up a center in each city/town that is having gang problems for the young people, hook up with Ben Carson to see what needs to be done or something useful it would help more than just disrespecting our flag, country and men in uniform or those that have died for our Freedoms! Talk is big, put their money where your mouth is because if you keep doing what you are doing you will not have any money because your supporters/fans with not pay to see you!

      1. Ribert Koonce says

I believe we just got rid of one of those from the White House. Then again, Chicago really isn’t the bastion of public safety with which to implement those types of change. And as we all watched him do, he took our money and out it where his mouth was, and look how that worked out.

        1. jaybird says

I never saw Obama do anything for the poor neighborhoods. Ben Carson should know what to do, he was a product of one.

On the “other side,” A “STREET PUNK”, by the name of SCALES, is totally offended and has posted several radical rants indicating his hate for ALL WHITE PEOPLE and their cause for ALL THE PROBLEMS related to “THE BLACK RACE”!! This is a prime example of the foolish, arrogance and stupid comments that comes from that group of people when they are criticized for any activity or action!!!

    13. Ron Scales Sr. says

You and your ancestors are the most murderous, mean, heartless, greedy, spineless, ignorant and selfrighteous people to ever walk the face of this planet. Everything that happens in a black American’s life is a direct or indirect result of acts perpetuated by white people. You want to remember the confederate flag but want them to forget slavery, lynchings, extrajudicial punishment, lack of voting rights, unable to work a meaningful job. You want to flaunt Hitler and Nazism while bashing Black Lives Matter. You want to act like your hands are clean when they’re dripping blood. You want to send Mexicans away from lands that were stolen by you and murderous American soldiers. You want to send African people back to Africa who were brought here to help build this country against their will. Your hands are filthy. Where will Irish, English, Scots, Geraman, Italian and Poles go back to? You damn sure weren’t invited. If you’re not a veteran you need to shut the hell up. If you area veteran, you still need to shut up.

      1. Michael Dennewitz says

        What a dickhead!! A BLOCKED DICKHEAD! 😂🤣😃😄😅

      2. Lisa Meyer says

And you and your kind need to stop living in the past. Nothing that happened during slavery affected anyone living today. In fact, had slavery never happened, you and your “bruthas and sistahs” might still be living in the bush, wearing sackcloth, and hunting for your own food with spears. Go read your history and find out who REALLY brought the slaves to America. It wasn’t the “Oppressive White Man.”
As for the Europeans who came to this country to settle it, most of them came here via Ellis Island (some brought their own white slaves with them), often at great expense and hardship. No one had it easy back then except for royalty and the landed gentry. Everyone worked hard to make their lives better. They had to. There was no welfare or any other government handouts. That’s the problem today. Too many people …black AND white…sitting on their azzes letting Uncle Sam take care of them. Do you know who is oppressing the Black Man today? HINT: It’s NOT the white man! And it’s really hard to take anyone seriously who stands up and says they are speaking for the oppressed, when they are being paid millions to PLAY A GAME! If they were really trying to make a difference, they would put their money where their mouths are, instead of disrespecting the very flag and country who GAVE them the opportunity to make the kind of money that they do for 3 hours work once a week for approximately 18 weeks. NO ONE makes the kid of money these primadonnas do. They have all let their celebrity go to their heads. I agree with the premise of what President Trump said when he said that owners should fire anyone who doesn’t stand for the Natl. Anthem. I think he was a bit over the top calling them SOB’s, but that’s who he is. Roger Goodell is an idiot who was OK with players disrespecting the flag and country, and all of the vets who fought, bled, and died for their rights, but got his jock strap in a pinch when Trump disrespected his players and a GAME. Goodell also did not let players wear a patch honoring the five Dallas police officers who were ambushed and killed by A BLACK MAN, but tells them what color socks they can wear. The protests by every team over this last weekend clearly showed that their actions have nothing to do with social injustice, and everything to do with stroking their egos and hating the duly elected President of The United States.
If YOU, Mr. Scales are a veteran, I pity you. You clearly took the oath of allegiance with your fingers crossed behind your back. And thank God, you are in the minority of Veterans who feel as you do. Maybe you should consider “shutting the HELL up.”

      3. JWH (NRA LIFE) says

Your “DISJOINTED, and INACCURATE, RANT” indicates your ignorance and foolish nature, and shows people why they should ignore any and all comments you might make!! You talk and act like “A STREET PUNK FROM SOCAL” that needs “AN ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT” at once!!

        1. Ron Scales Sr. says

A street punk who needs an attitude adjustment huh? By who? For what? You can try that if you want too, but don’t overestimate your ability to do that, or worse, underestimate my ability to make you wish that thought ever crossed your feeble narrow brain. You have watched too many John Wayne movies. He played a war veteran. I are one😉..I don’t bother or threaten anyone, but neither to I tolerate someone trying to fuck with me just because..they think they can. So, whenever you’re ready to teach your attitude adjustment class let me know ok.

      4. Ribert Koonce says

You sir are an idiot, an intellectual midget. FYI, blacks weren’t invited either. You just can’t accept the fact that it WAS your own ancestors that sold those people as slaves. And by your own insipid speech, the black man should be back in Africa. That’s where he WAS supposedly stolen from. You know, you might be right about one thing tho. The white man should have left the slave trade to the tribal warlords. Then there would be a lot less of you around. Simply due to the fact that if the warlord couldn’t make a buck off them they’d have killed them on the spot. And you sir would never have been at all.

    14. Larry Coleman says

      JWH,

I agree with your statement 110% and I am a black conservative professional…Blacks in general are alway talking about BLM when they are the number one killer of other black people…This is nothing but part of the deep state which they are a part of and I will have nothing to do with them…

There are many thousands of black republicans conservatives that voted for our beloved Mr President Trump…[Make no mistake about that] We just have to maintain a low profile because many stupid blacks are racist to the core against black conservative people…[something that is never talked about, but exists]

I wish they would deport all these ungrateful black players out of the country along with anyone that doesn’t love America and what this country stands for…We are a Christian nation dammit and a Christian nation we will remain…to the end…and I mean to the end…

I believe in Jesus and our Heavenly Father and nothing is going to change that…These satan worshipping devils and thats’ all they are if the truth be told…There is a special place waiting for them in hell…

      1. JWH (NRA LIFE) says

Thank you very much for the “Refreshing and Positive” response to my comments related to these matters!!! I am a retire General Contractor that ran an operation with “MIXED CREWS” for over 35 years!! These men were white, black, brown, and yellow; that worked as “A Team” and were all treated with equal respect when they performed in that manner!! The individuals that could not handle this type of operation were paid off and let go!! Many of the men learned trades and rose to higher levels of skill and responsibility!! I am proud of the fact that during my business activities, that I was able to help others rise to higher levels in this life experience!!! Perhaps we can work together , with our good thought, to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!

    15. PaulDean says

The 1st amendment cares little if you are inconvenienced when and where it decides to exercise.

    16. John says

I have many African American friends and most of them see through the plantation mode of the Democrats and many didn’t vote Democrat when their eyes are opened. They clearly now know that the Dem Mayors did hardly anything for them and only remembers them when it comes election time. While most are Democrat voters don’t believe the MSM when they try to sell that as many that are NOT covered by the MSM is waking up. The majority of these types are bootstrappers that is not waiting for a government handout but working hard to make it in life and many have successfully.

      1. JWH (NRA LIFE) says

John, You make very good points in your post! The point I make is that: all people of any color have the option to choose their path in this “Life Experience”!! It can be positive of negative and is related to their own thought processes and not controlled by what is “CALLED OPPRESSION, RACISM, Or WHITE SUPREMACY” !!! The “Radical Left” tries to make excuses for any criminal activities and blame all of them on conservative ideas and policies!! This is total BS and the “MSM ” becomes the “PROPAGANDA PRODUCERS” for these lies and misinformation related to the CURRENT PROBLEMS FACING THIS COUNTRY!!! ANYONE that chooses not to honor OUR FLAG OR ANTHEM should be sent to any other country that they think is “BETTER”!! I am mad as HELL and would love to give “THE MULATTO KAPERNICK” a “SNAP KICK IN HIS BALLS”!!! HID WHITE MOTHER THINKS HE A REAL CREEP!!

  3. Tl Reese says

let’s see, these folks protest standing to respect our nations” flag and their conclusion that all black folks (including these millionaires) are discriminated against but never protest the fact that 75% of all black children are born to unwed mothers and are not supported by their fathers! Seems to me that the people in the stands, paying their salary, should be the ones protesting.

    1. ernldo says

Yes, they are more than just stupid, me thinks….

  4. Bill O'Neil says

Good to see the NFL put Trump in his place.

    1. BIGRED says

TRUMP AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WILL NOT WATCH NFL AFTER A WHILE
TELL THE BLACK TO GO BACK TO THEIR HOME TOWN AND PROTEST DRUGS AND ILLEGALS

    2. Big E says

A mr dick weed the NFL just shot itself in the foot ! Another left winger that just can’t comprehend !

    3. chucky001 says

True that. And before long Mueller will put the trumpster in his ultimate place…behind bars.

      1. Jackalyn Morrison says

        Along with hellin,lynch,rice etc

      2. Rummy C says

The jails will be full of the wiretapper from Kenya and his minions before Mueller says there is nothing there.

    5. John Doe says

Bill O’Neil, please don’t forget to pull the manhole cover back over yourself when you crawl back into the sewers that you crawled out of and the one in which you inhabit. TROLL

      1. Bill O'Neil says

From the lips of a Putin/Trump troll.

        1. John Doe says

Let me let you in on a little clue Bill. I’ve got a product coming out this year, that will perhaps help some of you flaming liberals. It’s a clear, silicone belly button, a porthole that allows all of you to see out from from where your head has been so deeply planted, and that’s not even considering the noxious fumes and gases you’ve been inhaling for years with your head up your ass ! It was rather obvious of just what party has been accepting so many millions of dollars from selling off 20% of the US uranium supply. A power couple that has a record of close to 60 people that were either involved with them, but when they learned about who they truly were, are no longer among the living.

    6. Mathew Molk says

      Are you on drugs?

The NFL is on the rocks and except in the MSM the President is more popular then ever.

      1. Bill O'Neil says

He is very popular with his KKK and Neo-Nazi base.

  5. niknar says

This would be 1 sport where conservative support or lack of it would really have an effect. I’m guessing NASCAR will choose Trump’s side in this dispute, although I think I heard that Dale Earnhardt (I think it was he) had spoken up for the right of people in sports (as everywhere else) to protest.

    1. Gary Belich says

AND HE IS WRONG…..HE’S DISAPPOINTING HIS FATHER MORE THAN DISRUPTING THE POTUS

      1. chucky001 says

No, he is right. And you do not know what his father would think.

  6. rainstorm1997 says

    Well said…

  7. Justin Seine says

These people absolutely have the right to peacefully protest but many fans are not thrilled about having to pay through their noses to watch them disrespect their country and their country’s flag before the game even starts. May I suggest that you find another venue where you can civilly articulate your objections without offending many of the folks who make it possible for you to take home millions of dollars per year. If you don’t, I predict that your fan base will dwindle. I haven’t watched any football at all this season and I don’t intend to start.

    1. chucky001 says

See some reality…As long as their fantasy team wins fans won’t give a flying phuck about disrespecting the flag

      1. Garden_Goddess says

Try and respect freedom of speech from opposing viewpoints. It can’t be that hard, Needle Dick.

    2. GrizzMann says

Taking a knee expresses fealty to the Democrat that ordered it. That is how the plantation survives.

    3. Lisa Meyer says

Solution: DON’T pay your hard earned money to go see these primadonnas. When ticket revenues and concession sales tank because there are no fans in the seats, I guarantee the NFL and its owners will drop the act and go back to playing football.

  8. Gary Belich says

DOES ANYBODY REALIZE THAT ALL THIS BITCHING & WHINING & DISRESPECT FOR THIS COUNTRY ( NO MATTER WHAT METHOD IS USED) IS MAKING US OUT TO BE THE LAUGHING STOCK TO THE REST OF THE WORLD . NORTH KOREA IS A GOOD EXAMPLE AND IS TRYING TO PUSH US INTO ANOTHER CIVIL WAR WITH IT’S CHILDISH BEHAVIOR RIDICULING EVERYTHING THAT’S AMERICA…..IF ALL THOSE THAT PROTEST DON’T LIKE LIVING HERE, THEN GOD DAMN THEM AND LEAVE!

    1. chucky001 says

Dolt 45 was already doing a fine job of making the US a laughing stock before he started this idiotic controversy

      1. Nelda44 says

You are the dolt if you think Trump started this mess. The liberal will use anything and anyone to stir the s–t pot even you, you dick weed.

        1. Mathew Molk says

It was the word on the street since that unemployable quarterback started this shit last year. – The MASSIVE consensus is to fire anybody that pulls thus bullshit on the spot and have the cops bodily throw off the the stadium property.

The president only went public after the start of this season,,,,and he has the support of most rank and file people either democrat or Republican. The only exceptions are the ones beat into the ground by the MSM.

          1. Janet says

If I am not mistaken, there is and has been a rule in the Rule Book that requires all players to stand during the National Anthem

      2. bibleanda45 says

44 made us the laughing stock of the world. He made it where all the world needs to do is tell us we are wrong and he went apologizing to them and offering them money as “compensation”.

    2. ernldo says

We became the butt of worldwide jokes in Jan 2009….

      1. Garden_Goddess says

        You are so right!

    3. Francis VanDevender says

The people here as to stupid to see this happening,They can’t see OUTSIDE FORCES are trying to destroy us anyway we can.The black people are being used as a pawn, and are so dumb, they can’t see it.

    4. bibleanda45 says

BLM and Antifa are trying to push us into another civil war also. They just don’t realize that conservatives own most of the guns and actually know how to use them. Maybe BLM and Antifa should go to NOKO and try to bully them there.

      1. Mathew Molk says

How true,,,,A civil war wouldn’t last long at all, especially since the military is on our side. We would squash them like a grape.

  9. chucky001 says

Childress is a clueless troll. He says that so many people gave their lives for this country. Actually they gave their lives to defend the freedom to take a knee during the anthem. But then again, he is speaking to his base, a bunch of simpletons who find the concept of vehicles going round and round in a circle for hours on end to be intellectually challenging…Whose brains would be fried if they tried to understand the intricacies of the game of football or any other “stick ‘n’ ball” sport…..

    1. Jackalyn Morrison says

      NO THEY DIDNOT

  10. Tiger says

What I have deemed from the NFL and their taking a knee, for remember folks thugs, shot by police or thugs like Trevon Martin who instead of going straight home decided to fight Zimmerman, these are not heroes, they died doing bad things, the police did not seek them out or shoot them without a cause. All this started under Obama , this BLM and all, they also are thugs, we see that to this day, what else do you call people calling for pigs in a blanket being fried and for killing cops, then look at all those who have acted on it, killing innocent cops, a woman cop shot dead in the face. 5 shot dead in Dallas. These are not noble causes or noble people they are standing and protesting for. They are thugs.

Surely people are shot under suspicious circumstances, we are a huge country, but the people shot don’t drop the gun, they run away, fight and are not in those positions because they are innocent of something but because they are GUILTY of something. What I have learned is that no matter how much money people of any color make, the chip on their shoulder, the hate for whitey and the divide is in them, wasn’t in me until Obama and all I saw, all I heard but it is now, I am no fool I see that there is nothing, NOTHING whites can do to take the entrenched into the blood of these blacks the whitey hate away. No Affirmative Action, no grants, no Food Stamps, no Obama phones, no Medicaid and Welfare, no Free anything, medical, childcare, school breakfasts, lunches and dinners, no special giving them school supplies or Christmas gifts, no nothing, they hate us even when they are the 1%.

So be it. I never thought for one second NASCAR would ever do such a thing, they are Americans through and through as are most country singers, save ole busty, Dolly who just couldn’t find her voice at the Emmie’s to stand up for our president. The National Anthem and our Flag has nothing to do with what happened to the thugs mentioned. Nothing. This is just a way to hate on America, to force us to get rid of our symbols and our history and our culture.

    1. ernldo says

      +10,000

      1. George Bartenfeld says

In stead of taking a knee why don’t all those football and Pro basket ball player take some of the money that they use to buy 4 million dollars and stop buying a million dollar car and go into some of the places they are complaining about and try to get kids a better life, people who live in glass houses should not throw rocks, just kneeling at a football game is not going to get it done

        1. ernldo says

Fifty years of entitlement, they want taxpayers to fix what they broke, and they’re serious….

        2. Phoebe Isley says

YOU NAILED IT George Bartenfeld! BRAVO and BRAVO Tiger. ernldo I agree with your assessment as well! GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS TRUMP

        3. Hilly says

If they would stand for the national anthem, and THEN take a knee afterwards, and explain what they want, it would go a long way. But, they just seem to want to cut of their noses to spite their faces. I’m not watching any more NFL unless they wake up.

    2. Jackalyn Morrison says

You are SOOO RIGHT and I agree with you one hundred percent!! What about most of them would still be alive if they had just done what the cops told them to do!! I guess now they will label us racists because they can’t stand the truth

      1. Tiger says

Jackalyn I could care less because they have fried their oysters, they are through and yesterday there were two stories on how corrupt the Gators are along with even high school teams. Gators,9 of them charged with felonies in a scam, same with those running the high school teams.

Call me whatever cause they are done. Thank you NFL thugs appreciate what you did so we can get rid of you.

    3. Hilly says

So why can’t we give them a one way ticket to wherever their ancestors came from, and see if they like that better than they do here?

      1. Tiger says

With you but like the stars that hate America these pieces of shit won’t leave. All we can do is make sure they dry up and blow away and live like real everyday Americans.

        1. Janet says

I totally agree with you Tiger. I was around for the 60’s and watched MLK do his best to lead the Black community towards peaceful resolution of segregation. Since then we had come a long way and then Obama came along and fueled a backwards movement that has resulted in riots and looting, killing of innocent people, disrespect for law enforcement personnel, and just getting out of bed is deemed to be racist. The politically correct nonsense has not helped either. While I realized that some people are raised in homes where racism is taught , I believe that the largest population to be raised that way is the Black population itself. I was raised to treat everyone equally and not judge by race or religion and until Obama took the oath that he didn’t uphold or respect, I have followed those guidelines. Now we see the violence and disrespect being “the in thing ” and glorified by the media. What ever happened to the idea of reporting on something once so people knew, but not repeatedly talking about it to avoid giving a criminal a sense of power?

It is time to end the “entitlement ” programs for all but the elderly and medically disabled. If Black and White would get off their lazy backsides and start taking responsibility for themselves, some sort of subsidy might be appropriate, but not giving them more than I receive in income from having worked my way up from the minimum wage of $1.25 per hour and no benefits to making a decent income with benefits and supporting my children myself. I managed to go back to school for a year to finish my AS Degree when I was 40, so I believe it is more using your mind and the education you are given for free than it is necessary to attend college to bring you up. If you want it bad enough, you can do it

          1. Tiger says

This post is eloquent and filled with all the things everyone needs to realize. Great stuff and right on. I wasn’t raised in a household of racism or prejudice either. Remember also back in the day we said the Lord’s Prayer in school, the Pledge of Allegiance and were actually taught something. Also when I was growing-up families went to church, those who drank didn’t flaunt it and even in college in the late 60’s the Deans of the schools made us dress for success not for the stripper pole, which by the way those places also out of sight and mind.

The destruction of the the human Spirit, Mind and Soul began in earnest and when it did, everything we lived had to be removed, destroyed and brought down otherwise as Soros said about coming to America, my Society can’t advance in a Sovereign nation, the degradation can’t advance in a country with religion, discipline, truth and justice for all.

It is continuing to be delivered to us and was full throttle, under Obama who made sure that Godless, bloodthirsty and savage people from Iran, Iraq, Burma, Sudan, Cambodia and other places throughout the world where savagery reigns and killing is daily without thought and people oppressed and abused. Thee is method to his madness, Hillary’s Soros and all. We prayed, I did daily and cried as I walked begging The Almighty to do something, to spare us because we loved him and our voices needed to be heard, millions did the same and we got Trump. I tell you my friend that was a miracle in the climate we were living in, of itself.

            Pray.

    4. DUTCHIET says

They are WHITE AMERICANS they have nothing to protest. So why would they do anything. Just like you what so you have to protest?

      1. Tiger says

No it is not the white football players that started this, and they are kneeling for thugs, BLM was created under Obama and they were standing behind thugs, with records that were killed not because they were black, but because they were guilty of breaking the law, running from cops or carrying weapons.

Blacks have been free for over 150 years, they have Affirmative Action, that forces them into jobs many times they don’t deserve but a quota has to be had, they have Wellfare, Medicaid, Obama phones, Food Stamps, Free medical in every state, county and hamlet run by the county and the state, programs for taking care of their children, programs for feeding their children, you name it and they still are not able to make it on their own.

You think that cause I am white I never new poverty or being poor? You think I didn’t have to fight to get up in the world? You honestly believe that no white people struggle? I have plenty to protest:

Black Panthers calling for the killing of Whites.
BLM calling for the killing of police.
Nation of Islam calling for the killing of Whites.
Black Supremacist churches damning America and Whites.
La Raza calling for the killing of Whites.
Problems across this nation by black students with chips on their shoulders, hating Whites.
NFL filled with thugs and even rapists and murderers protesting the very country that has bent over backwards to give them things.
Attitudes towards Whites that are totally undeserved like yours.

Tired of it and keep on hating and see where this all goes. You can only push people so far.

        1. DUTCHIET says

It is refreshing to here from a out and out racist. You certainly don’t hide your emotions nor your hatred for our black citizens. And I get all this because I made a simple statement and asked a question.
You make it sound that if you are black is this country you have it made. Yes sir, all you have to do is ask and you will receive. And do you really think that all black players are rapists and murderers? Do you really thin that way, all of them? You can;t really believe that bull. I am white and just because of that I get treated much better than if I were black and that is a fact.
But my question was what do you protest. You gave my a list of things you don’t like about blacks. So how do you protest these perceived injustices?

          1. Tiger says

Well it is also refreshing to hear that I am and millions correct, when we know if we go against the grain about anything having to do with race, we immediately are labeled racist, bigots, when in fact, it is the opposite, it is the blacks who are racist and bigoted against the whites.

I am not a sir, I am a woman. Two degrees, the first one paid for by my parents, the second one worked and paid for by me to get out of an abusive marriage, took me 7 years to get, no white privilege there buster. You really think when my children growing up all I had to do was ask and I recieved? Boy are you out of the loop, in my day there was nothing, no help at all for me BECAUSE I WAS WHITE, THEY SAID SORRY MA’AM YOU ARE THE WRONG COLOR.

Did I say all black players rapists and murderers and all? No I didn’t but doesn’t it strike you as strange that now that the leagues are 70% black we hear about all these horrendous things? Even yesterday two stories came out all about college sports, the scamming and scheming and the buying of players, the paying off for adds for Nike etc and lots more, in fact the scandal so huge going to blow many out of the water.

Well buster boy I was raised to give respect where it is due regardless of color. I am an RN for 30 years, have a teaching degree and I am a Realtor, a Combat Support Army nurse since 1988 and served in two wars, worked for every damned thing I have. Nobody, not the state, not the county nobody gave me anything and color didn’t help me squat. I am not a minority. But in nursing school, in the military and in the real world being a boss and manager I sure had to jump through hoops to even reprimand a person of color or a minority.

No I gave you a list of black organizations and Hispanic that breeds white hatred across this country and gets away with it, I protest them through my congressmen/women and by petitions.

          2. DUTCHIET says

I must disagree with your assumption that just because you “GO AGAINST THE GRAIN” that that is the reason you are seen as a racist. Just read what you have written to me. You have not one thing good about any black. You can not paint all with the same brush. That is being a bigot.
I do agree that the blacks can be as racist as any white, green or red people. That is a given.
I have a very difficult time believing you were discriminated against because you were white. But if you were, then you will understand what the blacks face everyday.
You are correct you did not claim all player are criminals. But the players in the college scandal are not football player or professional nor were they all black.
Join the group. I have employes as many as 35 people at one time and dealing with latinos and black certainly was a challenge. But most were very good worker.

          3. Tiger says

Just by reading my opinions again you label me a bigot. What do you label BLM, Nation of Islam, Black Panthers, Black Supremacist churches? Aren’t they racist, bigoted? Or do those terms only apply to whites who fight back?

I feel sure you don’t believe that white women were not offered any help in the years past. Why not you didn’t live through it now did you, think what the Hell you want.

Well hooey for you, I have been a manager for years in all the fields I worked, including being an officer in the military, yes we have to be careful how we discipline, correct, speak to and reprimand a minority, goodie for you that you haven’t had that problem.

            Reverse Discrimination

            0

            42.2K

The term “reverse discrimination” sometimes is used to describe a type of discrimination
wherein members of a majority or historically advantaged group (such as
Caucasians or males) are discriminated against based on their race,
gender, age, or other protected characteristic. These types of claims
typically arise in the areas of employment or education. Occasionally,
the term also is used to negatively describe programs meant to advance
or promote minorities and address inequality, such as affirmative action.
While the term “reverse discrimination” is not expressly included in
federal civil rights laws, these types of lawsuits are generally brought
as discrimination cases under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
            and other statutes.

Because anti-discrimination laws were originally enacted to prevent
discrimination against minorities and groups that were historically
disadvantaged and denied opportunities in the workplace, there has
sometimes existed a perception that members of majority groups are not
protected by the same laws. However, these laws generally prohibit all
forms of discrimination based on protected characteristics, including
those against members of a majority group (as established by the U.S.
Supreme Court’s 1976 McDonald vs. Santa Fe Trail Transport Co. decision).

As a result, the term “reverse discrimination” originated to describe
these kinds of cases where members of a majority group are claiming
they were discriminated against on the basis of their age, race, gender,
            or other protected characteristic.

            What Is Reverse Discrimination?

While “reverse discrimination” is not specifically addressed under
federal law, the term typically refers to situations where a member or
members of a majority are discriminated against on the basis of a
protected factor, such as race or gender. Common examples would include a
Caucasian individual who is discriminated against in favor of a racial
minority, or perhaps a man suing an employer because a woman was given
favorable treatment at work on account of her gender. Diversity
initiative programs (such as affirmative action) are generally designed
to “level the playing field” in the workplace or educational settings,
they also may run the risk of breaking discrimination laws despite their historical justifications.

Examples of “reverse discrimination” may include:

Making hiring or promoting decisions in favor of minority groups,
despite the experience or seniority of Caucasian, male, or other
            majority applicants.

Hiring or promoting women solely on the basis of their gender over equally or more qualified males.

Refusing to hire or firing of persons under 40 years of age in favor of the hiring of persons over 40 years of age.

Rejecting an applicant for school while admitting a minority
applicant solely on the basis of race (courts have stated that race may
only be used as a “factor” in educational applicant decisions).

Reverse Discrimination in Employment: The Law

Courts have struggled with various types of discrimination cases,
including those considered to be “reverse discrimination.” Under Title VII
of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, employers may not discriminate based
on race, sex, gender, religion, or national origin, irrespective of who
the victim of discrimination might be. In addition, under Title VII,
employers may not create programs and policies that would have a “disparate impact”
or adverse effect on members of a protected class. However, courts have
interpreted this and similar state laws in different ways in
discrimination cases with majority (Caucasian, male, etc.) plaintiffs.
Although, some forms of discrimination in favor of minorities and
historically disadvantaged groups like women have been upheld by courts,
others have not, and it remains a contentious legal issue.

As with discrimination claims brought by members of historically
disadvantaged groups, so-called reverse discrimination claims are not
easily proven. The plaintiff has the burden of proving actual
discrimination on the part of the employer based on race, sex, or
another prohibited basis. Furthermore, a person making the claim must
            prove the following:

            Evidence that plaintiff is a member of a protected class (for example, a member of a certain race, sex, or religion);

            Similarly situated employees outside the plaintiff’s class received more favorable treatment than the plaintiff;

Information that supports that the employer discriminates against historically privileged or majority groups; and

Plaintiff performed the job satisfactorily (if part of a promotion decision).

Reverse Discrimination, Affirmative Action, and the Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court upheld the use of affirmative action in college admissions in its landmark Regents of the University of California v. Bakke
(1978) decision, in which a Caucasian medical school applicant
challenged a university’s use of race in admissions. The Court held that
race could be one of several factors in a college admissions policy,
but that they couldn’t use specific quotas based on race or any other
single factor (such as age, gender, national origin, etc.).

The Supreme Court addressed another challenge to affirmative action
when University of Texas applicant Abigail Fisher, who is Caucasian, was
denied admission to the school in 2008. She argued that by using race
as a factor in the application process, she and other Caucasian
applicants were disadvantaged and thus discriminated against. However,
the Court again held — Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin
(2016) — that “the race-conscious admissions program in use at the
time of petitioner’s application is lawful under the Equal Protection
            Clause.”

What to Do if You Suspect Employment Discrimination
If you believe you were denied a job or promotion because of your
race, gender, religion, or any other impermissible factor, you may wish
to file a charge of employment discrimination against your employer with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) — the federal a

            Domestic Violence in the 1970s

October 15, 2015 Archives & Manuscripts, Collections, Confronting Violence, Exhibitions, Guests, Series 7 comments

This post is the first in a series exploring the history of nursing and domestic violence from the guest blogger Catherine Jacquet,
and Assistant Professor of History and Women’s and Gender Studies at
Louisiana State University and guest curator of NLM’s exhibition Confronting Violence: Improving Women’s Lives.

During the early 1970s, domestic violence remained largely
unrecognized and virtually ignored in the legal, medical, and social
spheres. Indeed, family violence in general was largely dismissed at
this time. For its first thirty years of publication from 1939 to 1969,
for example, The Journal of Marriage and Family
did not include “violence” in its index. During the 1960s, scholars and
social service providers were only beginning to recognize child abuse
as a major social problem, while the scholarship and literature on wife
abuse was, as one researcher later described,
“virtually nonexistent.” The little scholarship that did exist on
violence against wives, mostly found in journals of psychiatry, was
overtly hostile, suggesting that women provoked their own abuse. The
same researcher commented that the “prevailing attitude in the sixties”
was that spouse abuse “was rare, and when it did occur, was the product
of mental illness or a psychological disorder.” In addition, there were
no reliable statistics on the rates of incidence of this understudied
problem and no legal or medical protocols for how to effectively
            respond.
            Ms.
magazine, founded in 1971, ran a regular feature “No Comment” that
encouraged readers to send in sexist advertisements and other media.
Printed in Ms. Magazine, July 1973

Culturally, woman battering was deemed a “private matter” and one not
worth intervening into. Police and medical practitioners alike were
reluctant to intervene into “private affairs,” or what was then deemed
“matters between a husband and his wife.” By all accounts, wife abuse
was also an accepted custom and often regarded with humor. This was
reflected in an early 1970s ad for a Michigan bowling alley. “HAVE SOME
FUN,” the copy read in bold letters, “BEAT YOUR WIFE TONIGHT.”

There were few services available for abused women in crisis. While
there were shelters or temporary housing for those categorized as
homeless or displaced, an understanding of “abused woman” as a separate
category of person who sought shelter or support services did not yet
exist. Battered women found themselves with little to no social support
and no place to go. In 1973 Los Angeles, for example, homeless shelters
provided 1000 beds for men, and only 30 beds for women.

Over the course of the next decade, the interest in domestic violence
would shift from virtual neglect to a significant social concern. This
shift was the direct result of 1970s feminist activism. Organizing under
the banner of “we will not be beaten,” grassroots feminist activists
and formerly battered women launched a nationwide campaign in the
mid-1970s to expose domestic violence against women, provide shelter and
support, and demand radical change from law, medicine, and society.

            The battered women’s movement,
as it was called, exposed the failures of the law, medicine, and
society at large in responding to the 2-4 million women who were beaten
in their homes annually. A massive outpouring of feminist activism and
service provision for battered women in the mid-1970s quickly caught the
attention of government officials, law enforcement, social workers, and
other non-explicitly feminist professionals. By the end of the decade,
many groups took on the work of the battered women’s movement.
As a result of widespread feminist agitation, understandings and
responses to battered women rapidly changed. As feminist activist Susan
Schechter recalled in her account of the battered women’s movement,
by the early 1980s, “in contrast to just one decade earlier, battered
women are no longer invisible.” Between 1975 and 1978, more than 170
battered women’s shelters opened across the country. In 1978, the US
Commission on Civil Rights named over 300 shelters, hotlines, and groups
advocating for abused women. In the span of less than a decade,
significant gains were made. A researcher in the early 1980s found that
the battered woman’s movement had made substantial headway in terms of
providing emergency shelter, legislation reform, establishing or
extending government policy and programs, and stimulating a
proliferation of research and public information on domestic violence.
Noticeably absent from this list was medical reform. Indeed, while an
outburst of activity came from the government, law, research, and social
service agencies, the medical establishment remained conspicuously
            absent from the conversation.

I find your number very, very interesting. What is your source of these numbers. I do disagree with some of them, Example; Gang membership would go down only by 53% , prison population has got to be higher. I would think all the numbers would be higher. In fact most of these number look low to me. But the more important thing is WHY? And it is not because the black are inferior Tell me why you think these number are like they are.

          10. Tiger says

Not my numbers, sent to me by a contact and more or less for consideration of what is going on with the black community.

They have been free for over 150 years, how long do they need to catch up with the rest of us? Given all they have been given, did that keep them down instead of raising them up? What happened since Martin Luther King died to bring them to regression? During his leadership they dressed like the rest of America, they valued education, they worked for a living, what is it he taught that fell through the cracks with these new generations since?

What do you think he would say to them today? What do you think he would think of his own race? Are they inferior? What is their average IQ? Look at the stats.

I am afraid you don’t get it. If you think black by definition are inferior, then we have nothing to talk about. There are many reason why people end up where they end up. Some they can control some not so much. If you don’t understand that your claim that they have been free for 150 is very misleading, then you do not know US history. Have you ever heard of JIM CROW? Why did MLK,Jr march and what did he protest? Black were being denied the right to vote, eat at a restaurant, stay in certain hotel, etc. They were and still are treated in many cases as second and third class citizen. Today there are states who want to be back to stopping blacks and other minorities from voting. many like you think they are inferior by definition and are acting accordingly
And what does an American dress like anyway.

          12. Tiger says

I am afraid you don’t get it and I don’t give a flying damn.

I didn’t say they were inferior did I? No but look at IQ scores and talk to me.

An American who wants a job dresses to meet the requirements of decency. Do you wear your pants down below your skivvies? Do you allow it in your company? Go get yourself righted then come talk to me.

Early footballers wore skirts as well. Golf of course, is non contact.

          1. sdgarman says

It’s non contact until someone gets hit in the head with the golf ball, or a golf club. I’ve had to help stitch someone’s head after a golf ball landed on back of his head. Pretty nasty. And golf clubs will rearrange the face in an ugly way.

I LOVE GOLF!!!!!!!!!! Best sport ever so I agree ernldo. Others may think it’s boring watching someone trying to put that little ball into a small hole yet those that think that way most likely have never played. Played since I was walking and it is an awesome sport. Just you and the field…LOVE IT!

          1. Phoebe Isley says

Was on track in HS and love camping so I do like both but don’t put as much into those as I do golf. You’re too cool!

    2. Mark Clemens says

NASCAR is the only speed sport were only a second separates first place from 20th place. Plus there is the element of death (ask the Allison’s, Petty’s, and Earnhearts)
I also think NFL Players are babyed to much. When they pull or sprain something a whole medical crew shows up on the field. Then a small John Deere removes the player. In the NHL if a player goes down (on cold hard ice) they usually hobble of the ice with out the little JD. Not to mention a NFL team plays one game a week. The NHL team will play 5 games per week.
All you Football people who are disguised w/the NFL, try some NHL.
They hit hard, hit w/sticks, sometimes there is an all out fight. With fewer penalties per play than football.
Hockey is a sport were a lot of men sank their teeth in. Few got them back

      1. Mathew Molk says

I would but in over 50 years I STILL don’t understand the rules,,Icing? I don’t get it, but I do agree that the middle sized white boys in hockey are WAY tougher then almost all of today’s football players. — The Lou Grozas that played both offense and defense and was know to make the tackle himself when he kicked off are long gone

  17. Mike says

let’s be thankful that the players at least didn’t insult a Gold Star family, insult POWs by saying that they liked those that were not captured, or expressed that there were good people on both sides of the Charlottesville protests. you remember the one side that chanted Nazi slogans and carried the Confederate flag. a flag that represents an open rebellion against the United States. the very flag we are supposed to be respecting. it’s a good thing thes players in the NFL did not dodge the draft with multiple deferments, one a medical deferment for bone spurs that the person can now not even remember what foot they were in. it is a good thing these players were not that disrespectful. oh wait the same group that now expresses outrage at this disrespect by the players elected the person talked about above as our president.

    1. GrizzMann says

NAZI slogans? Like Auswahlfreiheit? The motto of Planned Parenthood?

      1. Mike says

they chanted blood and soil and sieg heil known Nazi slogans. they did this while Nazi swastikas and carrying the confederate flag. a flag of open rebellion against the country these players are disrespecting. this is apparently fine with the right, but a peaceful protest taking a knee during the anthem is just so disrespectful. I am not saying the players are correct, but the outrage from you and the right is ridiculous when you elected a president who was consistently disrespectful to Americans and veterans.

        1. GrizzMann says

Weren’t Confederate soldiers made, by law, American Veterans? The Swastika was used well before NAZI’S (Socialist) appropriated it. It was even the symbol of an American fighting group. Taking a Knee is an expression of fealty to one’s master. How does that reflect the anti-slave culture. Wear a uniform at your job and you must follow the masters orders. There has been an American NAZI (Socialist) party in America for years.
Some examples of swastikas, Both American.

          https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/61dcca0800b3399a527e12d8ced43718ca8bf19dd971f6a95bc8b505b4f2af6c.png https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c5281559b8d66a470fce6f5965f0ec41c3f429bd08de50004aef22d99f871da8.png

          1. Mike says

the swastika does have a history beyond the German Nazis but that is not relevant to the context thise in Charlottesville were using it especially in conjunction with using Nazi slogans such as blood and soil.

          2. GrizzMann says

Mike, you did bring up swastikas. What about Planned Parenthood’s NAZI (Socialist) slogan?

          3. Mathew Molk says

Among others the swastika was used by American Indians before Christ was born. It actually has nothing to do with the NAZIs other then them ADOPTING it.

    2. Valor says

You want to know what is an insult to POWs? John McCain, I agree Trump should not have made that comment about McCain being captured. But McCain was no hero! Just ask those POWs interned at the Hanoi Hilton with him, Furthermore, McCain was responsible for nearly sinking his own aircraft carrier, the Forrestal, and the death of over 100 sailors. His actions would have resulted in court martial for anyone else, but because his daddy and granddaddy were 4 star admirals his actions were swept under the rug. And are you accusing Trump of dodging the draft? Would bet the farm you had no problem with Bill Clinton actually dodging the draft. As for these crybabies in the NFL. I am sick and tired of listening to these overpaid prima donnas bad mouthing the nation that gave them the opportunity to become overpaid prima donnas. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see how well they would have done in some other nation! Doubt any nation they feel superior to America would provide the same opportunities. Since they find America so egregious I suggest they leave for a country more to their liking. There is no Berlin Wall with armed guards keeping their sorry asses here. GO!

      1. Mike says

first stop believing the ridiculous statement that John McCain caused the fire on the USS Forrestal. he did not. the plane next to his was hit by a missile that was accidentally fired. he did not cause the fire. as for Bill Clinton I agree it was absolutely shameful what he did to avoid the draft and he should not be excused for it. trump did the same thing, avoid the draft. he did get a family physician to sign off on bone spurs that when he was asked later during the campaign what foot they were in he could not remember. again no excuse for Bill Clinton but if you don’t support him for his dodging the draft how can you back trumps comments about patriotism?

    3. Lisa Meyer says

The protest was started by an overpaid athlete, based on a premise that had no basis in fact, and had not affected him personally at the point the protest was made. It was also made at an inappropriate time (during a celebration of the building of this great country, its veterans, and flag, which demands a modicum of respect) and place (his job). So he had no credibility to be lost from the get-go. And as many others have said, if you want to make a difference, put your money where your mouth is, as well as any mentoring skills you may have. If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.

      1. Mike says

certainly you are correct on some of those points. the unfortunate part is that president trump has been far more divisive and disrespectful to this country and its veterans, but his supporters will never hold that man accountable.

        1. Lisa Meyer says

I respectfully disagree, Mike. I, for one, agree with the premise of Trump’s remark about them being fired. What I do not agree with was him taking it too far and calling them SOB’s. No matter his personal feelings about them, THAT was totally uncalled for, and I believe is the bigger reason that we are seeing a surge in the number of players standing in protest. Now the whole reason the original K protest was started has been diluted.
I would be interested to hear your reasons for thinking that Trump has been disrespectful to veterans. If you are speaking of his disrespectful comments about John McCain, again, he should have kept his personal animosity to himself and not made that comment publicly. On the other hand, McCain has made no secret of his disdain for Trump, and has done everything in his power to undercut Trump every chance he gets. Other than that, I do not know of anything Trump has done to disrespect vets. Many vets on here support him, too, so he can”t have been too disrespectful.
And as for divisiveness, well, we have a parting of the ways on that one. The media twists everything Trump says, and puts their own spin on what he meant. If you are referring to Charlottesville. Trump was RIGHT! There was fault on BOTH sides. The media mouths immediately jumped on what he said and gave their own narrative about what he meant, but any thinking person who listened to his speech knew what he meant and agreed with him. But let’s cut to the bone here. If G. Soros had not bussed PAID agitators there to cause trouble (You know they were not there for a peaceful protest when they came dressed in “battle gear” and carrying clubs, bats, and homemade torches). If the Mayor of Charlottesville had not had his police officers stand down, and the Governor had not told State Troopers to stage blocks from where the two groups were, as soon as any clash occurred, it SHOULD have been IMMEDIATELY put down. I blame that entire debacle on the local authorities who knew exactly what they were doing. The whole thing was staged to happen. Unfortunately, a young lady died. And THAT is unacceptable.
The bottom line is, Trump is NOT perfect by any means. No politician is. But he is a lot better than what this country suffered through for 8 years before him, He loves this country. Unlike the progressive alternative candidate, who, thank God, did not get the chance to continue Obama’s destructive legacy.

          1. Mike says

you need to really look at president trump. he talks about disrespecting the flag but said there were good people on the side of protesters in Charlottesville who were chanting Nazi slogans, carrying Nazi symbols and the confederate flag which is a representation of a civil war against the flag he now has respect for.he is complaining and calling it disrespectful for a peaceful protests before football games, but was fine with protesters representing those hateful symbols. that is not respect. Donald trump insulted a gold star family during the campaign, a family who lost their child for this country. that is not respect for veterans. trump does not love this country. he loves himself and has used and his other sheeple to con himself into the presidency so he can help himself and his billionaire friends. look at his tax plan. sure he lied and said it does not help himself and other billionaires, butit does. it reduces his tax rate, cuts the alternative minimum tax and eliminates the estate tax which only the 1percent pay. you have the wool over your eyes. maybe some day you will wake up. trump has no respect for this country or its laws. you can see that even in how he treats the judiciary which is supposed to be independent of the executive branch, but not to trump.

          2. Mike says

also what was destructive about obama’s presidency? was it rescuing the auto industry? helping pull us out of the worst recession since the great depression? reducing unemployment from about 13percent to under 5? record highs in the stock and the third highest growth of the stock market in our nations history? creating more jobs in his last six months in office than trump did in his first six? having wages increase for the first time in several years? huge reduction in gas prices? equal pay act for women? millions more gaining healthcare? decreasing the yearly deficit which trump is already increasing again? again what was destructive about obama again?

    1. Mark Clemens says

I remember back in the 60s and 70s.

Well check out the “wait ’till next year” Browns. Up the last Sunday had the most loyal fans in the NFL… and haven’t won 6 games in the last 3 years. So why have they paid all that cash….Seems like the fis is in somewhere.

  22. Gammi2Anna says

If I remember correctly, the kneel down during the pre-game ceremony which included honoring our National Anthem and American Flag, began with Colin Kaepernick. Supposedly, he did this in regard to some racial issue, which has now gotten lost in all the hoop-la that has been created. Now our politicians have, as usual, taken this to boost up their most favorite issue in order to increase their voter base, which is Racism. This is where any cause the players might be anxious to promote gets lost for me.

My Grandparents were indentured servants, working on a very large plantation. Their 12 children could only go to school during the winter months because they were expected to work the plantation as soon as they were big enough to pick up a farm tool, round up cattle or plant gardens. As grandchildren, during the summer, when school was out, we had to work as well. There was no pay for this work. My grandparents were allowed to live rent free in one of the houses and use the property near the house to plant gardens and raise animals to provide food for their family. My family was dependent on their “Owners”. I understood when the Black population felt that they were living under oppression by their “Owners” and wanted to break free of that moniker. BTW, my family, although indentured servants, are White.

Now, back to my questions about why the kneeling at sporting or other special events is now being used by the players and the politicians as a racial issue. The players and participants in all major sports went in voluntarily, enticed by multi-million dollar salaries, where stadiums full of admiring fans go to spend their money and watch them play with a ball. Is that a form of Oppression? Are the players told when and where they can travel, get an education or build their million dollar homes? That would be almost like how their ancestors and mine lived. Obviously, our ancestors pulled away from being dependent on their “Owners”. Now we have sports teams, dominated primarily by blacks, who refuse to stand and respect the American Flag and our National Anthem because they feel this practice is racially offensive. I find it confusing that this is their issue, when they are required to work for and answer to their “OWNERS”. I hear them refer to Jerry Jones as their “Owner without any reactive repulsion when referring to him as “my Owner”. Now, what was their Complaint about again? Oh, yeah, maybe it is the ‘Pigs’ (the name they call our Law Enforcement Officers who risk their lives to keep all of us safe), but how could that be when they depend on Law Enforcement Officers to provide excellent Security for them and their families while they play a game with their ball. Could they be complaining because of the thousands of military men and women who are anxiously awaiting, in some God forsaken foreign country, to get the opportunity to see a game transmitted for them to watch, while serving to protect each of us, no matter our skin color. Now I’m not only confused but also mad as Hell because I cannot find a reason for these selfish millionaires, along with their “Owners”, dare to use ‘racial oppression’ as an excuse to dishonor America and what we stand for.

    1. nocbsfan says

Gammi what a super attitude you have. All the things we should be thankful for, and all we can do is find some reason for hate.

    2. Mark Clemens says

Im not sure why professional athletes would use race as an issue.
Politicians use race as an issue because it divides and its FREE.

      1. GrizzMann says
      2. Gammi2Anna says

Not all do. It seems to lean toward the ones who really have no reason other than to use it as an excuse for their own lack of ambition and their selfish desire to create anger, hatred and fear. Politicians began using the latter to turn their campaigns for a political office into a race war.

    3. Francis VanDevender says

Most black don’t know what you are talking about, they think they are the only ones that were used as slaves, and think that they are owed!!! 1. Mathew Molk says

        Even Bill Cosby says that

    4. John Doe says

F— all of these whiny snowflakes. We’ve only got Obama and Holder for starting all of this nonsense, claiming that racial disparity was a real problem when it truly wasn’t, claiming that there was racially motivated hatred of black people by white policemen like Darren Wilson, who was later exonerated for shooting the black thug, Michael Brown that tried to wrestle the officer’s gun out of his hand, after stealing from a small convenience store. Obama and Holder used that as a call to stir up more racism than this country has seen in decades.

      1. Gammi2Anna says

You are correct about that. Obama and Holder succeeded in doing exactly what they wanted to do. Now we have all the politicians using this for an excuse to garner votes, money or to secure a political career. Just in the past year, I have noticed an increase in the angry rhetoric and blame game from the blacks in our area, more in the teens, young adults and retired elderly generations. Why, because they all have found that if they make unfounded accusations or claims of racism, our officials will bend over backwards to give them whatever they demand, which many times is in the form of monetary restitution. That is our tax dollars, which could be going to our schools to help with upgrades that could benefit the students who want to be successful. But it ends up with the trouble makers and drug pushers. Our city has been named the most dangerous place to live in our State. If some of these successful professional ball players, entertainers and media persons would use some of their big money, come to cities like ours and try to mentor the young people, we might have a chance to turn them away from a life of crime. But NO, they’d rather just create more hate and discontent because it is what keeps them in the lime light. They do not care if 1 or 1000 die in the streets due to the riots, drugs or race divisiveness. Sitting back nodding and high-fiving one another is Obama and Holder. They succeeded in developing a weapon greater than any nuclear bomb the North Koreans could ever imagine.

    5. Mathew Molk says

My Mom’s family were almost all sharecroppers in North Carolina for generations up to WW II.– We are White, BTW.

  23. figmo says

It is interesting to watch the NFL committing economic suicide. The owners, the Commissioner and the jock sniffers who make their parasitic living from commentating on football, all trying to dance the politically correct minuet. They all seem to be without a clue as to how patriotic Americans feel about this great country and its flag and National Anthem. Nothing can change the fact that the over paid, over pampered players are just plain wrong to use a football game as a forum for their personal grievances whether they are real or imagined. Sports are supposed to free from politics. It started to become apparent that the win at all costs mentality had become the only thing that mattered when a star quarterback from a college team had the school administration, the prosecutor and the local law enforcement, all working hand in hand to sweep a woman’s rape allegations under the carpet so that the team could compete for the national championship. The NFL will soon have to face the rusty ramrod of reality that you don’t defecate where you eat.

  24. Clayton says

All these stupid jackasses are doing is giving the law abiding Americans, patriots, vets, and all the ones that make this country safe the finger, at lest one sport got it right NASCAR. The NFL need to get rid of Good for nothing Goodall that can’t even enforce the rule that are on the books.

NASCAR knows their roots and fans because except for the celebrity status and greater money, the drivers, and even the owners have come up from much more humble roots and they know their fans are just as they were. This is a case for the NFL that they soon will feel a great revenue drain, advertisers will bail, and the players escalating sky high salaries will be coming down, and the more than 80 percent of the players who are NOT protesting can blame the less than 20 percent who are.

    1. Lisa Meyer says

Phil Long Ford in Denver, CO. already notified the Broncos that they will no longer run ads featuring Von Miller, because of the protests last weekend. While they didn’t come out and say that Miller was fired, they did say that his ads would be “reconsidered.”

NFL & PATRIOTISM, what’s it all about?

Before a preseason game in 2016, NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick sat down, as opposed to the tradition of standing, during the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner”.

During a post-game interview, he explained his position stating, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”

In the 49ers’ final 2016 preseason game on September 1, 2016, Kaepernick opted to kneel during the U.S. national anthem rather than sit as he did in their previous games.

The above represents the provenance of our current situation which appears to be the cause as to why some appear to reflect disrespect for our flag and the singing of our national anthem.
The reason, as expressed by Mr. Kaepernick, is based upon what he characterizes as the oppression of people of color.

His perception appears to have its roots embedded in the shootings of some black men by police officers. He doesn’t appear to include in his “thinking” that white men have been shot, as well.

Some of these shootings may have been justified and some may not have been justified.
The adjudications of these shootings may or may not have been correct.

There are approximately 330 million people inhabiting our nation.
Through September 25, 2017, 730 Americans have been shot and killed.
That reflects 2.2 incidents per one million. Whereas any unjustified shooting is an abomination, one might think about the fact that there will, always, be anomalies. Of the 2.2, some were justified, some were not. The shootings include all races and ethnicities.

Anyone who believes this or any nation is an example of perfection is incredibly confused.
Mr. Kaepernick’s extrapolation from these shootings to conclude that the United States of America oppresses people of color could be characterized as illogical and convoluted, at best.

Mr. Kaepernick was not and is not the real cause of our current situation. The problem appears to be due to the irresponsibility of the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers.

A football stadium is a place of work for football players and staff. As such, management establishes rules and protocols.

When Mr. Kaepernick first sat, the general manager should have established that all will show respect for the flag and the national anthem.

The 1st Amendment does not apply to the workplace.

The blame, for this ridiculousness, stupidity, and divisiveness, must be shared by the ownership of the 49ers and by Mr. Roger Goodell, the Commissioner of the NFL,

The media, especially CNN, with MSNBC a close second, has exacerbated this insanity by promoting racism as the major factor. Don Lemon of CNN said that “taking a knee is constitutionally protected”. The producers and the legal department should have known that is an incorrect statement and apparently meant to inflame this phenomenon.

An extremely serious question should be asked; why did CNN’s legal department allow that statement?

The media is demonstrating that yellow journalism is an ugly tool that they will not hesitate to use.
Fair minded people of all ilks must be demonstrably outraged.

A rational solution to mitigate the damage done would be that Mr. Goodell and the ownership of the 49ers issue a joint statement apologizing to the nation for massively mishandling this matter.

This mishandling by the 49ers and the NFL leadership appears to be caused by a combination of ignorance and stupidity which can be reversed by a sincere mea culpa, whereas certain media cannot utilize that path due to their apparent agenda, bias, and vicious premeditated intentions.

One should be empathetic and understand why some have expressed their disdain for our flag. They have suffered from a confluence of factors, including the media massively misleading them.

Next time, I will offer greater clarity, i.e., what I really think.

The FCC should be admonished to review this matter with great urgency, diligence, and sincerity.

That is why I dont listen to any of the network talking stumps anymore. I barely even listen to my own local news because they have displayed liberal leanings a few tmes.
The media needs to be muzzled. Some more than others.

Get rid of the tax write off for the corporations and others that use the NFL and other sports as business entertainment and are allowed to write off the cost like they do dinners and the politicians write off their trips. I can’t for I don’t have that kind of money so why should they be allowed to use it as a business expense. Do that and watch the stadiums loose fans.

  35. Mike W says

NASCAR is not riddled with all of the “entitlement” people. The reason NASCAR has risen so much in popularity is because of that too. People who actually have to get up and go to work everyday – I don’t care what the job is – are sick of hearing these spoiled rotten millionaire athletes whine about how badly they are treated – most of them have “participation diplomas” – meaning that yes they did attend a school but – the diploma they received and $6.00 will qualify them to buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks – maybe when they get a taste of the real world – they will have appreciation for what they threw away.

    1. Mathew Molk says

NASCAR has actually DROPPED in popularity since Princess Star Pony (Danaca Patrick) was given every unfair break they could give her and then she went out and had pictures taken of her in her underwear. (There are MANY female drivers and a lot of men too that should have had her ride, BTW)

Now NASCAR has a chance to get all the fans back.they lost and to gain many more. Even I’m coming back (and I was a short track driver back 1000 years ago in the run what you brung days before zillions of dollars screwd things up)

      1. Mike W says

I live near Daytona and from the traffic I see on I-95 and near the track they are not hurting for fans.

Just had a discussion with a fellow great friend and employee who truly feels that the only reason the NFL plays the National Anthem and the Flag unfolding is to pocket $50 million dollars from the government. I respect difference of opinion yet to honestly link standing for our National Anthem and unfolding of our Flag is about money is exactly how liberals justify the kneeling. That these players are trying to bring attention to the Law Enforcement wrongfully performing their jobs to the oppressed of the few. How does disrespecting the very country you live in help in your cause? It’s wrong and I get so confused on how people EXPECT all yet are not willing to sacrifice anything to get it. I love NASCAR and I am with them 100%. If you want to make a point then start a foundation use some of that absorbent amount of money you make and help your communities to resolve issues you have instead of disrespecting the very country you live in to do nothing except complain about what you feel you are being denied. Free for alls aren’t what OUR COUNTRY is made to be. Become a resolution not expect everyone to do it for you. Do it with love and respect and I promise your ACTIONS as well as your WORDS will be acknowledged far more than your disrespect for our country and lack of effort for change. Walk the Walk stop talking the talk and show us not tell us. Be an example not part of the problem. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS OUR PRESIDENT.

I was wondering who will do the fly over for the Superbowl this year? Is the Army going to pull their ads from the NFL? Will President Trump issue and executive order taking the NFL’s “privilege” of operating as a not for profit business away? Since when has the NFL been “not for profit”?

      1. Phoebe Isley says

All military Honor Guards should refuse to display the colors from this point forward. And stop wasting money having military jets to fly over stadiums. How much does it cost the taxpayers every time they do that?

        1. Mike W says

Those fly overs at ball games are done as a matter of national pride. Seeing as how these players apparently have no national pride they don’t deserve the respect of a fly over.

70 years old and I WAS a life long Cleveland Fan until last Sunday as was my father when he was alive. – “Wait ’till next year” has become “Just wait ’till next week” in NE Ohio, when there will be LOTS of empty seats and a number of Bars that change the station to a movie or turn the TV off when the game comes on. (My son was at the local bar Sunday and when the assholes knelled down several people got up and left and went home right then.)

Fuck the NFL, The Browns, Haslmen and the other owners that let this happen, and all the coaches that condoned it. They are now going to reap what they sewed. And Don’t forget Lebron James. He can takes his talents back to Miami and keep going ’till he gets to Havana. I never liked the self serving back stabbing showboat in the first place. (Other then bouncing a bass-o-ball he has no saleable skills)

I quit watching NASCAR quite a while back but I guess I’ll be back in front of the TV watching the parade at the boring super speedways and buying products of the sponsors, and most especially, My wife and I will be going to the local NASCAR short tracks where there is more action in a single night then in the complete NFL season, anyway.

One other thing, from the commie media like CNN or the NYT you would think the entire country was behind the NFL and against our President on this subject. — I can only tell you what is going on the East side of Cleveland and the looser Browns sure stepped in it this time. – They will NEVER get the stink off them.

These men are thugs, standing for thugs. The people who have been featured as being murdered by police during O’s Reign of Terror were all guilty of committing acts that put them in the place they were, they were not sought out and killed they were thugs with records. These 70% NFL black men taking a knee can stay down cause that is where they are going but we got bigger fish to fry people. Take a look.

    *** Mandated national “screening” for all persons seeking to own guns, giving bureaucrats the final say on whether or not you’re “competent” enough to own a gun;

*** Restrictive licensing for gun and ammo sales, and perhaps even bans on certain types of firearms. This could include anything from semi-auto rifles to shotguns to handguns!

    *** Restrictions on the number of guns and amount of ammo any “properly-licensed” individual may legally own;

    *** Bans on magazines holding more than ten rounds;

GOOD FOR NASCAR! The football players are make millions because they are living in one of the only free countries in the world and this is how they express their gratitude! Young men, many less than 20 years old, took bullets, crawled through mine fields, barbed wire, and artillery explosions and then died so that you bastards who are making millions can have the freedom to spurn their memories and curse the country which gave you these opportunities. I am through with you! The owners need to have the guts to fire you if you don’t pay proper respect to your flag and the patriots for which it means something.

IF the protests are not about the flag, country or Anthem, then they shouldn’t be made DURING the solemnity of the playing of the Natl. Anthem and the display of colors.
All military Honor Guards should henceforth refuse to march and display the colors at ANY NFL or NBA game. Furthermore, if they can’t respect the flag and the anthem, make them ALL stay in the locker room until it’s over. Better yet, blackout the network feeds so no one has to deal with their disrespect. Turn it back on at kickoff for those who just must have their football fix.

Violent revolution has already occurred. Promulgated by BLM and Antifa, and all those oppressed blacks who think rioting and burning and looting and destroying property that doesn’t belong to them is the proper response when they don’t get their way. Then they want to cry and act the fools when the police show up to arrest them for their criminal acts.
Act like a criminal, get treated like one. Act like a thug, get taken to the mat like a thug. Give respect, get respect. If you’ve been mistreated, there are ways to address that, but resisting and being an arrogant azz is very likely going to get you hurt, or dead. It’s really very simple. But for some reason, black youth just can’t grasp the concept.

Just how, exactly, are blacks oppressed? To be black in this country, or any other minority, means there are many more opportunities available to you than what are available to whites. There’s the NAACP but not NAAWP, BET but no WET, scholarships that are strictly based on how non-white your skin color is, loans based strictly on the color of your skin and Affirmative Action that is based strictly on the color of your skin and not whether you have the qualifications for the job. Are all these open to whites? No! So tell me how it is that black people think they are oppressed. The media sensationalizes the “cop shoots black man” stories because if you look at the true statistics, white people are shot by police a hell of a lot more than blacks are.

Unfortunately, the patients suffered and I doubt she learned the lesson. This is very real and yet nothing happens to them. Perhaps we need to start demanding the administration in these places hold them to the same standard as everybody else. Oh that’s right only white people are racist!!

    “I see you…
    I see you, professional football,
baseball, basketball player, as you kneel down during the playing of
    the National Anthem…
I see you, with your arm raised in
    protest…
I see you thinking you are doing something to unite
people over social and racial injustice.
    I see you…
    But, more
than that here is what I really see…
I see a man pushing the
wheels of his wheelchair as he returns home from a foreign land
unable to function as he once did, due to fighting to protect you as
    you kneel on the ground.
I see a young widow, dressed carefully in
black, mourning the remains of her husband, hugging a coffin on the
tarmac of an airport. I see that same woman clutching a perfectly
folded flag to her bosom as taps is played at his graveside. I see
her young son, tears streaming down his face knowing his father would
    never come home again.
I see graveyards full of tombstones, here
and overseas, with names of those fallen, with dates showing a much
too early death. I see so many, from so many different wars and
conflicts, crosses and stones. They are too numerous to count.
    I
see the sacrifices made, the hearts broken, the tears shed, the
shattered lives all in the name of freedom… all in the name of that
red, white and blue piece of cloth that you choose to protest.
    Social
and racial injustice? You who make millions of American dollars for
playing a game in a country where you have more opportunity to make a
better life for you and your family than anywhere in the world?
Really? The hypocrisy of it astounds me.
    First of all, if you
really want to protest, give your money and time to make changes.
Give to those less fortunate than you. Help those people get an
education, buy them food and shelter. Show them opportunities to make
better decisions. Teach them that they have a purpose in life.
    If
you really want to protest injustices…
    Protest the treatment of
veterans, who have to wait extremely long periods of time for
healthcare, who are living under interstate bridges, in boxes, who
are committing suicide. Today over twenty of them will take their
lives out of hopelessness and despair.
    Protest the people whose
goal in life is to make sure an unborn baby doesn’t see the light
of day. There will be around 3,500 of them today. There is no greater
    injustice than that.
Protest the loss of religious rights as some
atheist complained so much that public prayer by a group of young
players on an athletic field is not allowed.
    When I see that flag,
when I hear that song, when I sing those words, I give homage to
those who died for this land, who continue to protect this land, who
don’t know if and when they will ever see their loved ones again.
Some say that they died for your freedom so that you can take a knee.
I say they died for your freedom so you can stand proudly and be
thankful that God has blessed you enough that you can live in a
    country of so much opportunity.
    Go ahead…
    Go ahead and
    kneel…
    Go ahead and be ungrateful.
    I am watching…
    As are
    millions and millions of others.
We don’t see a protest of
unity… we see a protest of disgraceful ignorance.”

I’m wondering how many NASCAR are black?

  64. disqus_Hczv3TBKdY says

First…….the protests ARE NOT about the anthem or the flag…………………please get that fact straight. No one is protesting these things…..only an idiot like Trump thinks this way……………………………
Second of all…………….they have no basis for protest by NASCAR….being “white privilege” and all

I’ve been a long time avid
Seahawks fan. Wouldn’t miss a game for anything short of death, BUT I DID NOT WATCH THE GAME LAST SUNDAY, AND I MAY NOT WATCH ANYMORE. Certainly won’t be wearing their shirts or colors or flying a flag. Sad, but i cannot support the disrespect they show. There are many ways and places to bring attention to attitudes and racism but it is NOT appropriate at games. I am extremely offended.

    1. Lisa Meyer says

Can’t believe Pete Carroll allowed them to remain in the locker room. Did the order to do that come from the owner or GM?

This is the reason I quit watching professional sports long ago. I got tired of paying the salaries of priviledged spoiled brats acting like children and throwing temper tantrums. There are many up and coming players in all sports that would love the opportunity to prove themselves and I can imagine that happening if Americans like me are totally disgusted by these antics.
Yes, they have a right to their opinions and freedom of speech, but NOT at their workplace. I could not have gotten away with that at my job before I retired, and would have been fired on the spot had I done any protesting that could embarrass my employer.
Lets see how far it goes when the NFL starts losing money and all those snowflake billionaires running the teams see a steady drain because they are supporting a bunch of spoiled children.

  69. Blindside says

IT’S A BLACK THING!!! Therefore, the solution has to come from the BLACK community.
If there were a WHITE thing, we wouldn’t be trying to drag everyone else into it, we’d fix
it!!!! Like everything else that’s handed to them…….they want the solution handed to them.

  70. PaulDean says

At the root of the protests surrounding the flag, which was begun by Colin Kaepernick last year, is not a lack of patriotism or support for the military. Kaepernick made quite clear that he was protesting racial injustice in the country and, in particular, the violence against black men committed by the police. To obscure the stated reasons for the protest and lump it all into a lack of patriotism
is to — whether accidentally or purposely — miss the point. I am sorry for all you Trump Clones but the 1st amendment doesn’t give a rat’s ass about your displeasure of the NFL kneeling. You either believe in Freedom of Speech and the Constitution or you don’t. It’s that simple. In the words of American Patriot Patrick Henry “I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

What excuses will Trump Clones tell themselves when they don’t miss a single down of NFL football?
    (1) Those “kneelers” learned their lesson. What time is the 1st game?
    (2) It doesn’t matter to me what the “sons of bitches” are protesting. I
don’t believe in Freedom of Speech and the Constitution and I’m ready
    for some football !
    (3) Who really gives a shit, anyway? You think
I’m going to let my fake indignation get in the way of NFL football? Are
    you nuts?

    WHERE SHOULD BLACKS PROTEST?
It’s wrong to do it in the street. It’s wrong to do it in a tweet.
You cannot do it on the field. You cannot do it if you’ve kneeled.
And don’t do it if you’re rich you ungrateful son of a bitch.
Because there’s one thing that’s a fact you cannot protest if you’re black.

    1. kotoc says

You dummy… it’s about the love of country, not freedom of speech. Take your stupid self-serving rant to the arena where it will be effective TOWARD whatever goal you have, not on the playing field. If you are un-American, then LEAVE America, because we don’t like you and we don’t want you here.

      1. PaulDean says

Why can’t you idiots see that Freedom of Speech should be practiced ALL THE TIME, EVERYWHERE? Oh, NOW I understand. Nazis don’t believe in Free Speech. I’m sorry if the 1st amendment has caused you to be inconvenienced. And one more thing, PEA BRAIN, the kneeling wasn’t on the playing field. It was on the sideline, before the game even started. If I was un-American I would leave, but I care too much what assholes like you and Trump are doing to MY country.

        1. kotoc says

You just don’t get it, do you?! If you were in church and disagreed with the pastor because he says that all God’s children are created equal, and you thought about how you were treated by some dumb redneck, and you say out loud, “BullSh**!!” Do you think your freedom of speech is appropriate in that time or place? No? Well, don’t you think that during the NATIONAL ANTHEM, which many people revere, is similar to that? Well, it’s a LOT like that, if your stupid little liberal brain knows how to think at all!!

          1. kotoc says

Oh, and by the way, YOU ARE un-American… if you think it’s okay to disrespect your own country and flag during the show of respect. You disrespect my country, I disrespect YOU!!

          2. PaulDean says

Whether or not you think Freedom of Speech is appropriate in the scenario you described is not the issue. If you don’t believe in Freedom of Speech you are a Spitlittle Jackbooted Nazi Thug, plain and simple.

          3. kotoc says

I DO believe in freedom of speech!! Don’t you understand? Or are you just too THICK to “get it?” It’s about the time and place. The time and place to protest should be outside a police station or courthouse, if it’s them you have a beef with. NOT a stadium filled with America-loving citizens, veterans, and people who have lost loved ones who defended their country with their lives. You seem to be under the impression people will still think you’re okay if you have horrible manners, lack of respect and timing…. because that’s what those LOSERS that knelt during the National Anthem were doing.

          4. PaulDean says

This is the point of contention that idiots like you will never understand. You don’t get to cherry pick where and when you get to use your Freedoms just because you are disturbed and inconvenienced to what you consider horrible manners and a lack of respect . Climb back under your rock you Nazi Asswipe.

          5. kotoc says

I’m growing weary of trying to explain to you, dumbass, what it means to have respect and be civil during the National Anthem. Apparently, that’s too much to ask from a barbaric goon like you.

          6. PaulDean says

..and you are a Nazi Sympathizer Dumbass if you think peaceful protest is unpatriotic.

          7. kotoc says

Boy, you really ARE dense, aren’t you?! I’m NOT against freedom of speech, and I’m NOT against a peaceful protest!! It’s about the time and place, you moron! You don’t have any brains at all, obviously, and I’m not going to argue with you anymore because you just aren’t worth my time and aggravation. So, I’ll block you, and you can go ahead and make a fool of yourself to other people. Have a nice day!

          8. PaulDean says

Once again, Moron, the 1st amendment cares little if you are inconvenienced when and where it decides to exercise.

          9. PaulDean says

I thought you were going to block me. How is that working out for you? To all Trump Nazis like you who believe in the protections the 1st amendment provides but ONLY during certain specific times and ONLY at the acceptable locales they recommend: The 1st amendment doesn’t care you are inconvenienced if it decides to exercise whenever and wherever it feels like it.

  71. Ronald Hagler says

It is a game. A sport played on a field in view of thousands of fans and not a political arena, yet several players chose to use this exposure to millions of viewers to show uniformity in chaos and anarchy. Against what injustices are they protesting? Why do over-paid, prime-donnas feel the need to disrespect our Flag, our National Anthem and those who sacrificed everything to offer some misguided support to a cause that is unneeded as well as mostly unwanted.

The injustice these individuals chose to champion , in reality, does not exist, so why the demonstration? Simple. These players are well paid, well fed, self-serving ingrates who seek notoriety and selfish gratification. They obviously have no knowledge of the injustice they seek to expose. What injustice? Some street punk gets killed during an altercation with police, and, because he is black, the police are automatically at fault and the dead black man was a saint; killed before reaching his prime! Bull Shit! Federal records show that more white people are killed by police than are black people. Again, where is the injustice?

Was Michael Brown, in Ferguson, not shot while resisting arrest? Was the evidence not overwhelming in support of Officer Wilson’s statement as to the course of action leading up to Brown’s shooting? The answer is yes, but, the black community was not satisfied with the facts. They chose to riot, loot and destroy buildings while demonstrating their anger over the ruling which did not charge Officer Wilson with murder. The injustice was not in the ruling (based on facts) but, instead, the mob’s reaction to a justifiable shooting.

Then there is Freddie Gray: a black, 25 years old man who died, suspiciously, while in police custody. Gray was arrested for possession of an illegal switchblade. During transportation to the station, Gray fell into a coma and never came out. The coroner concluded that Gray’s death could have been homicide, but no evidence of foul play (by police) was ever uncovered. Two officers were charged, but lack of evidence led the courts to dismiss the charges, thus setting off another round of Mob Violence in Baltimore.

Again, no evidence proved any wrong doing, but the black community was angered that the facts ruled out and their opinions were ignored. Black Lives Matter was all over this like ants to a picnic. With bull horns and an aggravated attitude, the leaders of Black Lives Matter egged on the protestors, driving them into a frenzy, which, once again, caused destruction of property and looting of businesses. Why? What did the deaths of Michael Brown and Freddie Gray have to do with destroying the community? What actions by businesses in the area gave cause for black mobs to destroy their businesses and steal their merchandise? None.

Was the actions of these black supported mobs not unjust? Was their injustice not protestable? Were the participants in these mobs not criminal in their actions, deeds and results? Yes. Yes they were. If we, as a nation, continue to allow Mob Justice to rule, can we truly fend off the anarchistic decline such mobs will create? No. No we cannot! Every court case has at least two sides, with at least one side being disappointed with the verdict. If those who disagree with the courts decision are allowed to riot, loot and destroy the community where the “perceived” injustice was incurred, can any harmony, balance and normality be retained? Can we, as a nation, continue to allow this anarchy to rule and expect democracy to survive? If the Romans, Egyptians and Greeks could not survive their internal decay, how can we expect to survive a rebellion by persons who seek chaos, anarchical control and total disrespect of our protocols, simply because they disagree with a judicial decision?-

Rioting never solved any real problems and usually leads to destruction, chaos, looting and physical harm. For this reason, I question the true motives for these NFL prime-donnas’ obsession with willful disrespect and I condemn them for their stance. Theirs’ is a divisive stance which cannot be attributed to the Trump Administration; as it began before Donald Trump was elected.

GREAT POST! I give you 1,000,000 upvotes!

      * As a footnote, WHO was seen looting businesses during Hurricane Irma in Florida, when millions had been told to evacuate??? It certainly wasn’t any WHITE PEOPLE!
Why don’t these football payers step up and compensate the business owners whose windows and doors were smashed in so their precious, oppressed, little rats could go in and steal hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of merchandise?

I’m just curious, but in a court room there is an American Flag and usually a State Flag. When the judge enters the court room and the bailif announces “all rise”, is it to show respect for the judge? In any event if someone decided to kneel instead of standing, what would be the outcome of this type of display?

    1. kotoc says

There would be trouble for the one who disrespects the judge, of course. It should be the same for the National Anthem. Throw them all out for contempt of court.
