St. Louis’s McCloskeys: With Dems in Charge, You “Will Not Be Safe”
The first night of the Republican National Convention kicked off on Monday night, and it was ten times as interesting as the Democrats’ version within minutes. We know we’re biased and everything, but come on. This was compelling television, even if you disagree with every single thing that was said.
Maybe it’s just that we’re sick to death of hearing variations on “Orange Man Bad,” but everyone who spoke on Monday night – from Donald Trump, Jr. to Nikki Haley to Herschel Walker – just sounded so much more impassioned and “real” than 90% of the people who spoke at last week’s DNC.
Among the more compelling speakers were Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the St. Louis couple who gained overnight infamy when they brandished firearms outside their house to ward off a mob of wilding Black Lives Matter protesters. Now that the McCloskeys have had their weapons confiscated and are facing felony charges from an overzealous, out-of-control St. Louis prosecutor, they are in a unique position to talk about the dangers of giving our nation over to Democrats.
“The radicals are not content just marching in the streets,” said Mark McCloskey. “They want to walk the halls of Congress. They want power. This is Joe Biden’s party. These are the people who will be in charge.”
In their remarks, the McCloskeys impressed upon viewers the stunning situation in which they find themselves. They defended their property. They exercised their Second Amendment rights. They warded off an angry mob that was trespassing on private property. For that, they have been demonized, called racists, hit with absurd charges, and turned into the epitome of “white privilege.” If this is the mentality of the Democratic Party and those that support them, how much worse will it be if we hand them the White House?
“They’ve actually charged us with felonies for daring to defend our home,” Mr. McCloskey said. “This easily happen to any of you who are watching from quiet neighborhoods around our country.”
He warned that the current slate of anti-police, anti-justice policies coming out of the left make it very plain that the “Democrats no longer view the government’s job as protecting honest citizens from criminals, but rather protecting criminals from honest citizens.”
His wife concurred.
“These are the policies that are coming to a neighborhood near you,” Patricia McCloskey added. “So make no mistake: No matter where you live, your family will not be safe in the radical Democrats’ America.”
Did the Democrats utter a single sentence last week as powerful as that one?
