Democrats Are Still Invoking Hitler When Talking About Trump
In what can only be termed a failure to learn from their mistakes, prominent House Democrats are still out there comparing President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler and the rise of the Third Reich. Having apparently forgotten that the American people got more than their fill of this nonsense during the 2016 campaign (if not during the presidency of George W. Bush), House Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) and House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) both invoked the specter of Hitler in separate interviews this week.
Perhaps the idea is that by bringing up the world’s most infamous monster in comparison to Trump, Democrats will be able to avoid reckoning with the violent, disastrous history of socialism, which their biggest stars are trying to bring to the United States.
“Adolf Hitler was elected chancellor of Germany,” Clyburn explained to NBC News. “And he went about the business of discrediting institutions to the point that people bought into it. Nobody would have believed it now. But swastikas hung in churches throughout Germany. We had better be careful.”
Clyburn said solemnly that “dire consequences” were awaiting the U.S. if Trump’s power was allowed to grow.
“And I think it’s time for the Congress — House and Senate — to grow spines, and do what is necessary to protect this democracy. This man and his family are the greatest threats to democracy of my lifetime,” Clyburn said.
Meanwhile, at a town hall event in New York, Nadler used similar language to describe the current state of America.
“You’ve heard the President and the administration say that immigrants are thieves, that they bring in drugs, that they’re responsible for lots of crime, that they’re — a crisis at our border, they’re bringing in drugs and crime,” said Nadler. “This is the same type of propaganda that we heard in the 1920s and World War I against Jews. ‘Jews are Bolsheviks. Jews are thieves. Jews are violent’ — that was the propaganda. And, we were that against the Irish early. Now, we’re hearing it against this generation’s immigrants — and it’s just as false now.”
Far be it from us to advise the Democrats on their political rhetoric, but they might want to consider going easy on speeches that remind their constituents of the Jews. It could bring up some inconvenient associations.
That aside, what really makes us laugh is to have these Democrats out there comparing Trump to Hitler, comparing the GOP to the Nazis, and then…what are we going to do about it? What are we going to do about this monstrous dictator who is only a Reichstag fire away from assuming total power, at which point he will invade Mexico and start marching Muslims into the gas chambers?
“I think all of us know that impeachment is a political concept,” Clyburn said. “And if the committees do their work properly they will be able to bring the public along with them.”
Oh cool. We’re going to work it out in the committees.
These Democrats do not even believe their own hype. No one ever said they would go back in a time machine and investigate Hitler in a proper congressional committee. It’s a farce, and if we had a media worth two cents, they would call it out as the absurdity that it is.
