Democrats Want to Boycott In-N-Out Due to GOP Donations
Boy, can you just imagine what would happen to corporate America if conservatives lined up to boycott every company that made donations to the Democratic Party? The entire country would come to a complete standstill overnight. Hell, now that we’re thinking about it, it doesn’t sound like a half-bad idea. Might put an end to some of the Silicon Valley shenanigans we’ve seen of late, to say nothing of the debacle North Carolina went through when they passed that bathroom bill a few years back.
But it doesn’t happen and it isn’t likely to happen because conservatives…we’re just not like that. Yes, there are times when a company does something so outrageous, unfair, and evil that we have no choice but to put our money where our mouth is, but for the most part, we’re willing to live and let live. Especially when it comes to something as plain and vanilla as political donations. It’s one thing for a company to be a fierce and outspoken advocate for a cause like abortion; it’s another for them to throw some bucks to the Democrats every elections year. It’s really not worth getting up in arms about.
Apparently, though, Democrats don’t feel the same way. For them, it is now a sin of epic proportions to donate money to the GOP. That’s why when an enterprising journalist tweeted that In-N-Out Burger had given $25,000 to the California Republican Party, the dumb liberal masses started talking boycott.
Eric Bauman of the California DNC issued a tweet calling for voters to avoid In-N-Out until they could start donating money to Democrats like a respectable company would.
“Et tu In-N-Out,” Bauman wrote. “Tens of thousands of dollars donated to the California Republican Party…it’s time to #BoycottInNOut – let Trump and his cronies support these creeps…perhaps animal style.”
We understand that “animal style” refers to something on the burger chain’s menu.
In an era where actors and reality stars have to issue public mea culpas for even flirting with conservative ideology or “liking” Republicans on social media, this really should come as no surprise. It started a few years back with Chic-fil-A and Hobby Lobby, but at least in those instances, the companies were representing a political point-of-view in one way or another. The boycotts were still a stretch, but there was at least some semblance of logic to it. If we’re now at the point where a company can’t even make a political donation to one of the TWO major political parties without risking social annihilation…well, we’re in a bad place.
For their part, In-N-Out is standing strong.
“In 2018, In-N-Out Burger has made equal contributions to both Democratic and Republican Political Action Committees in the State of California,” the company said in a statement. “For years, In-N-Out Burger has supported lawmakers who, regardless of political affiliation, promote policies that strengthen California and allow us to continue operating with the values of providing strong pay and great benefits for our Associates.”
The company described the reaction to its donations as “unfortunate,” but pledged to keep on keeping on, regardless of what overeager Democrats think about it.
It’s just…do you know how miserable and full of yourself you have to be that you decide not to go to a restaurant anymore because the owners don’t share your political beliefs? Democrats and their “our way or the highway” arrogance continually astound us.
In any event, aren’t these California fruit-kooks all vegans and smoothie-drinkers, anyway? Would In-N-Out even miss their business?
