Elizabeth Warren One of Several Dems Who Want to Ban Fracking
Drilling and processing our natural gas resources is not only one of the best ways to move the United States to total energy independence, it is also a fantastic move in the right direction when it comes to reducing our carbon footprint. Unfortunately, the move towards natural gas is scorned by Democrats, who will only be satisfied when America gives up its economic dominance by moving to windmills, solar energy, and the power generated by fairy kisses. So when the subject of the conversation turns to fracking, you can count on these leftists to be completely unreasonable.
On Friday, Elizabeth Warren, one of the three Democrats expected to have a chance to win the nomination, said this: “On my first day as president, I will sign an executive order that puts a moratorium on all new fossil fuel leases for drilling offshore and on public lands. And I will ban fracking – everywhere.”
Wow, that’s JUST what America’s economy needs – a president who will put the federal government in between the people and their resources. Terrific.
But Warren is not alone in her crusade to make America pay for its reliance on Evil Fossil Fuels. Earlier last week, Bernie Sanders said, “Fracking is a danger to our water supply. It’s a danger to the air we breathe. It causes earthquakes. It’s highly explosive. Safe fracking is, like clean coal, pure fiction.”
Sanders, too, said he would call for a complete ban on fracking on all public and private lands.
One might expect the two most progressive candidates in the race to support this kind of nonsense, but other Democrats are all-too-willing to join them.
“There’s no question I’m in favor of banning fracking,” Sen. Kamala Harris said in a CNN town hall on climate change. “Starting with what we can do on day one around public lands and then there has to be legislation, but yes. This is something I’ve taken on in California, I have a history of working on this issue.”
In response to Warren’s promise to ban fracking in an executive order, Daniel Turner of Power the Future said it was a perfect example of the left’s hypocrisy.
“This is the same person who loves to call Donald Trump a dictator,” Turner tweeted. “Yet she is the one wanting to singlehandedly end an entire industry with the stroke of her pen!”
For whatever gains America has made in recent years in terms of lowering our country’s carbon output, the turn towards natural gas is almost completely responsible for it. Warren, Sanders, and Harris want to destroy those gains and go back to importing our fossil fuels from the Middle East. That’s their planet-friendly mission, whether they admit it or not. The country is simply not “there” yet when it comes to relying solely on alternative fuel sources. In other words, these candidates are either living in a fantasy world or trying to sell one to their voters. Either way, they can do a lot of damage to our economy, to say nothing of our national security.
