END OF THE WORLD: Absurd Overreactions to Trump’s Paris Decision

Reckless!

Indefensible!

Absence of leadership!

Crime against humanity!

Yes, President Trump has pulled the U.S. out of the worthless and economically destructive Paris Climate Agreement, and liberals are fit to be tied. On Thursday, leading Democrats in Washington and Hollywood fell all over themselves to see who could issue the strongest condemnation of the move, making fools of themselves in the process. Between their hysterical overreaction and the Kathy Griffin incident earlier in the week, Trump’s poll numbers are sure to skyrocket in the coming days. Your average American voter is surely beginning to realize just how…removed from sanity…the left really is.

Naturally, former President Barack Obama – whose misbegotten legacy is being erased by his successor – was quick to release a statement, and the news networks were only too happy to give it a showcase.

“The nations that remain in the Paris Agreement will be the nations that reap the benefits in jobs and industries created,” Obama said. “I believe the United States of America should be at the front of the pack. But even in the absence of American leadership; even as this Administration joins a small handful of nations that reject the future; I’m confident that our states, cities, and businesses will step up and do even more to lead the way, and help protect for future generations the one planet we’ve got.”

Yes, they probably will. That’s exactly why it makes no difference, climate-wise, whether we remain in this agreement or not. That’s the whole point! Even the wackiest of wacko environmentalists say that the market will push green energy forward. So why do we need this job-killing pact in place?

Then of course, there was Al Gore, who has an Inconvenient Truth sequel to promote.

“Removing the U.S. from the Paris agreement is a reckless and indefensible action that undermines America’s standing in the world and threatens to damage humanity’s ability to solve the climate crisis in time,” Gore said in a statement. “But make no mistake, if President Trump won’t lead, the American people will.”

Funny, because we’d say pulling out of this agreement when the entire world is begging him to stay in it…that’s the very definition of leadership.

As obnoxious as Obama and Gore are, though, they were paragons of reason compared to many of their liberal brethren.

You had Michael Moore on Twitter claiming that Trump’s decision to pull out of the agreement amounted to a “crime against humanity.”

New York Times liberal Nicholas Kristof thought this was a clever analogy: “If somebody drives drunk, we arrest him. If he drives national policy recklessly, threatening our planet, we just call him ‘Mr. President.’”

Ho, ho. Good one.

“This is the day that the United States resigned as the leader of the free world,” said CNN’s Fareed Zakaria. “It’s nothing short of that. The irresponsibility of this act is breathtaking because the Paris climate accords are actually extraordinarily flexible. They do not dilute American sovereignty.”

Extraordinarily flexible, indeed. Another way of putting it: Every country gets to basically make up its own goalposts and then meet them or not. Essentially meaning that the agreement is useless, except as a way to get the U.S. to commit to paying for our economic competitors to upgrade their energy technology while hamstringing our own economy.

Well, liberals are gonna lib, and they have invested a tremendous amount of money and political capital into the propaganda that is global warming. Their overreaction is to be expected. Listening to their hysteria is a small price to pay for having a true leader who is willing to go the unpopular route in the name of American workers.
