Father of Released Hostage BLASTS Obama for Willful Incompetence
President Obama’s handling of North Korea was lazy at best and incompetent at worst, and his administration’s failure to take action has had terrible consequences on a global level…and a personal one. Just ask Fred Warmbier, the father of newly-released hostage Otto Warmbier. The elder Warmbier would perhaps be more overjoyed about his son’s return if he had come back in better condition. Unfortunately, something – doctors and government officials still have not determined what – happened while Warmbier was in the custody of Kim Jong Un. Now he’s barely awake, in a state of unresponsive catatonia, and his father has some harsh words for the former president.
In a press conference following Otto’s release, Fred Warmbier said that while he is relieved to have his son back on American soil, he is outraged over the way he was treated by the North Korean government. In custody for more than 17 months, the young man returned home last week having suffered a significant degree of brain damage. But Warmbier’s criticism goes well beyond the Kim Jong Un regime; he also believes that the Obama administration should have done more – or at least let HIM do more – to secure his son’s release. Instead, he said, the administration advised him and his wife to keep a “low profile.”
“We did so without resolve. We were advised that it was important that you don’t upset the North Koreans,” he said. “Earlier this year, Cindy and I decided the time for strategic patience was over. And so we made a few media appearances and traveled to Washington. We went public with an interview on Tucker Carlson’s show and then did a couple written pieces and then, very quickly, we have Otto home.”
A reporter, noticing Warmbier’s attitude towards the Obama administration, said, “You thanked President Trump and you also said that the past administration didn’t do enough. So do you feel like then-President Obama should have been doing more to help?”
Warmbier said, “I think the results speak for themselves.”
Interesting side note: If you happened to be watching the coverage of Otto’s return on MSNBC, you were treated to a nasty bit of liberal media bias. Because, naturally, they couldn’t just stand by idly and watch someone praise the Trump administration without comment, could they? So correspondent Hans Nichols took it upon himself to assure viewers that the irate father…well, he didn’t really know what the hell he was talking about.
“What struck me were the parallels between his rhetoric, Fred Warmbier’s, and the rhetoric of the Trump administration,” Nichols said in his report. “The Trump administration has talked about the end of strategic patience being over, you heard Fred Warmbier make a similar comment. And several times he went out of his way to directly credit President Trump as well as Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with the release of his son.”
Nichols brushed it away, though. “We’re living in incredibly partisan times,” he said, “and I think at some point some of the reporters there were trying to egg on someone who isn’t necessarily politically sophisticated. I wouldn’t make too much into sort of him crediting one administration and not another.”
Yes, because if you say anything bad about Obama and anything good about Trump, you are obviously not politically sophisticated enough to be taken seriously.
Why is anyone still watching these clowns?
