Florida Sheriff: Looters Will Get a Surprise if They Burglarize Armed Residents

Grady Judd, the sheriff of Polk County, FL, is known (and highly popular) for his no-nonsense, unapologetic approach to law enforcement. We don’t imagine there are many sheriffs in this country who would side with the criminals at this time of unrest and chaos, but Judd goes above and beyond when it comes to sending a message to the looters and rioters. At a press conference on Monday, Judd went straight to the point, advising anyone thinking about breaking into private homes amidst the destruction to think twice.

Judd said that he’d encouraged Polk County residents to arm themselves over the years and exercise their Second Amendment right to protect their homes and families. He used the press conference to send a message directly to homeowners wary of the growing unrest: If someone breaks into your home, don’t hesitate to fill them full of lead.

Asked what message he had for residents and potential looters, Judd said, “I would tell them, if you value your life, they probably shouldn’t do that in Polk County. Because the people of Polk County like guns, they have guns, I encourage them to own guns, and they’re going to be in their homes tonight with their guns loaded, and if you try to break into their homes to steal, to set fires, I’m highly recommending they blow you back out of the house with their guns. So, leave the community alone.”

Some weak-wristed liberals were aghast at Judd’s pronouncement, but then again, this is the sheriff who once explained to a reporter why Polk County deputies shot a cop-killer 108 times: “They ran out of bullets.” If there’s ever a mass recruitment of modern-day lawmen to get into a time machine and travel back to the days of the Wild West, we’d have to guess that Judd will be first in line. When it comes to keeping law and order in his neck of the Florida woods, he doesn’t play around.

And in terms of the civil unrest currently miring Democrat-run cities in chaos, Judd assured reporters that Polk County would not be the next to fall.

“We are going to hunt you down and lock you up if you engage in any criminal conduct,” he said. “Minneapolis is not Polk County. And I want to say unequivocally that the community here is unbelievable. But please understand, that if you come here to riot, to loot, to injure people, we’re going to lock you up in the county jail.”

If this country had more leaders like Grady Judd, we wouldn’t be seeing the nationwide destruction we’re seeing now.
