Former CNN Producer Says Jim Acosta is an Embarrassment to Journalism
Former CNN Senior Digital Producer Steve Krakauer said on Twitter Friday that his old network’s chief White House correspondent was an embarrassment to CNN, the White House, and the journalism profession as a whole. Responding to Jim Acosta’s attempts this week to connect President Trump to the mass shooting at the Maryland Capital Gazette, Krakauer could not hide his disdain for the reporter and his “self-serving antics.”
It all started at a White House event on Friday morning, where President Trump was promoting the new Republican tax cuts and their effect on the U.S. economy. Trump used the opportunity to speak out about the tragedy in Maryland, offering his condolences to the victims and their families.
“Before going any further today, I want to address the horrific shooting that took place yesterday at the Capital Gazette newsroom in Annapolis, Maryland,” Trump said at the event. “This attack shocked the conscience of our nation, and filled our hearts with grief.”
After finishing up with a heartfelt speech and proving yet again that he is more than up to the task of being America’s “comforter-in-chief,” Trump was assaulted by an inappropriate, off-tone question from the clown called Acosta.
“Mr. President, will you stop calling us the enemy of the people, sir?” Acosta yelled. “Will you stop calling the press the enemy of the people, sir? Mr. President, will you stop calling the press the enemy of the people, sir?”
Trump ignored the idiot and continued with the event.
On Twitter, Krakauer let Acosta have it.
“Truly an embarrassment, on multiple levels,” he wrote. “Jim Acosta’s self-serving antics give all good journalists a bad name.”
In a follow-up tweet, Krakauer continued: “On a day journalists could honor the memory of fellow reporters tragically killed due to a deranged person with a vendetta going back years, Acosta tries to shift the blame to Trump, thus validating many Americans’ feelings about the Acela Media (that existed long before Trump).”
It can’t be said any better than that. Had it turned out that the Maryland shooter was a Trump acolyte who had traveled to the newspaper to kill journalists in the name of the president, then sure, Acosta would have been fully within his rights to ask that question (even though Trump has never – EVER – advocated violence against reporters). But the fact that this tragedy had nothing to do with Trump should have been a signal to Acosta to put a muzzle on that loud, clownish mouth for once.
But hey, it’s got people talking about this moron again, and that appears to be the only thing Acosta really cares about.
