George Soros: The Man Behind Ferguson

For the last five months, Americans were led to believe that the events that took place in Ferguson on August 9th, 2014 were wholly responsible for a grassroots uprising. While skeptics held the inaccurate media presentation of Michael Brown’s death responsible for drumming up anti-police sentiment, most assumed that protestors were out on the streets with a genuine plea for justice. Even if it was misguided, it was at least heartfelt.

According to a blockbuster new expose from the Washington Times, however, that’s not the case at all. The protests that eventually gave way to the larger, nationwide Black Lives Matter movement were funded, in large part, by liberal billionaire George Soros. The man behind Moveon.org has donated more than $30 million to groups that turned a small St. Louis suburb into a flashpoint for America’s latest conversation about race and justice.

Soros’ Open Society Foundation played a key role in organizing protests on the ground in Ferguson, sponsoring small-scale movements with national social media campaigns. Other groups funded by Soros spent their days monitoring American media to make sure they didn’t miss anything else they could use to their advantage. By dragging in largely-unrelated cases and comments, the groups were able to keep the media interested in the protests, fueling the ongoing movement long beyond its natural expiration date.

The growing protests in the streets of Ferguson were made up not of town residents, says the Washington Times, but of bussed-in activists from groups like the Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference in Chicago and the Center for Community Change in Washington, all of which enjoy funding from none other than George Soros.

A Dangerous Liberal

In an interview in the early 90s, Soros was questioned about his growing financial power to direct the shape of American politics. “It is a sort of disease,” Soros admitted, “when you consider yourself some kind of god, the creator of everything, but I feel comfortable about it now since I began to live it out.”

Despite making a fortune from the advantages of free market capitalism, Soros has made it his mission to demonize everything that makes America what it is. With his organizations, the billionaire has taken aim at national security, the American military, border laws, and capitalism. Among the things labeled “racist” by Soros and his groups are laws against marijuana, the Tea Party, charter schools, Florida Governor Rick Scott, voter ID laws, Fox News, Republicans, and police.

In an interview with the Open Society Institute in 2003, Soros claimed that foreign interests did not have enough say in how America was managed. “I think you put the finger on a very important flaw in the current world order,” Soros said, “and that is that only Americans have a vote in Congress. And yet, it is the United States that basically determines policy for the world. That is a flaw in the current setup.”

With his billions, Soros aims to not only change the fundamental heart of America, he wants to invite other countries to have a say in the process. If he can stir up enough civil unrest to make the majority of Americans believe the system is out of control, he may just get what he wants.
