GOP Investigates Biden’s Biggest Mistake

(FixThisNation.com) – Since taking over the House, Republicans have launched a number of investigations into President Biden. The latest proof launched concerns the messy withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan in August 2021. As part of the investigation Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken requesting access to a number of documents and an array of information relating to that matter.

McCaul has called the Biden administration’s refusal to cooperate with oversight requests “absurd and disgraceful.” He further added that the administration has continued to not provide all of the information related to the withdrawal. He added that if the administration’s noncompliance continues then the Committee is going to need to use the authorities in order to gain access where necessary.

In the letter on Thursday, McCaul was looking for intelligence assessments, internal agency documents, and communications with the Taliban and Afghan government, which he wants the Biden administration to provide by Jan. 26.

A spokesperson for the State Department has said that they would continue to work with the congressional committee and that since the withdrawal there have been over 150 briefings to partisan members of Congress.

Even before winning the House, the Republicans had made it clear that the Afghanistan investigation would be one of the things that when they flipped the House they would immediately take on.
Last year, Republicans on the Foreign Affairs Committee also released a report in which they criticized the White House for their planning and understanding of Afghanistan’s largest airport following the withdrawal.
