(FixThisNation.com) – On Saturday leading House Republican James Comer argued that it is possible that the circulating rumors about former President Donald Trump being arrested are just a way of keeping the attention away from the investigations into President Joe Biden’s family and more specifically into his son Hunter Biden.
On that same day, Trump had taken to Truth Social, his social media platform, to claim that according to some leads the Manhattan district attorney’s office had been planning on arresting Trump on Tuesday. The arrest would be made in connection to the allegations about “hush money” being given in 2016 to adult film star Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence over their alleged affair.
Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, has already pleaded guilty over his involvement in this scheme. Trump on the other hand has repeatedly claimed that there was an affair.
At the same time, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is moving ahead with his probe at a faster pace which is widely considered evidence that they are getting closer to deciding whether or not they are going to pursue a criminal indictment against him. If they do decide to indict Trump, then it would be the first time that an indictment of this sort has been made against the former President in United States history.
However, Trump’s representatives have repeatedly downplayed the effects that a potential indictment might have. At the same time, Trump’s supporters are arguing that an indictment would be further proof of the weaponization of the justice system.
