Hillary Clinton Plays Her Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free Card

America’s nutty liberals fly off the handle every time a cop escapes indictment for a self-defense shooting, but they are pleased as punch to see Hillary Clinton make a mockery of justice. If there was any good reason for Bernie Sanders to remain in the race for the Democratic nomination, that reason disintegrated on Tuesday when FBI Director James Comey announced that his agency would recommend no criminal charges be filed against the former Secretary of State.

If you haven’t listened to Comey’s full 15-minute speech, it’s worth taking the time to do so. In a way, it was reminiscent of Joe Biden’s “I’m not running for president” speech a few months back. In that case, Biden announced he wasn’t running and then gave the exact same speech he would have if his decision had gone the other way. Here, Comey laid out a list of reasons why Hillary Clinton should be slapped with federal charges…and then let her off the hook.

“Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information,” Comey said.

Had his speech’s contents not been overshadowed by the conclusion – that Hillary would almost certainly escape federal prosecution – Comey’s announcement would be seen as one of the most stunning official rebukes we’ve ever seen against a major presidential candidate. Hillary was probably celebrating after the speech, but there’s no question that it was politically disastrous.

Hillary may not be headed for prison, but what are the American people to make of these facts:

She lied about not sending or receiving classified emails. Comey confirmed that the FBI had found 110 emails containing classified information, including some marked as such at the time.

She deleted work-related emails from her server before handing it over to the State Department, a clear violation of agency policy, if not the law.

There’s no specific evidence that the server was successfully breached by foreign hackers, but Comey said it was “possible” that Hillary’s emails had been compromised.

Hillary had other private servers, used them for both personal and professional purposes, and created a labyrinthine puzzle for federal officials to solve while investigating.

Comey said Clinton “should have known that an unclassified system was no place” for the types of emails she was sending, and he condemned both her and the State Department for handling classified information so casually.

In a statement, Donald Trump said:

Folks, the system is rigged. The normal punishment, in this case, would include losing authority to handle classified information, and that too disqualifies Hillary Clinton from being President. The final jury will be the American people, and they will issue the verdict on her corruption, incompetence, and bad judgment on November 8th.

Even for those people who dismissed Trump’s “it’s rigged” argument during the Republican primaries will find it hard to contest his latest assertion. There’s simply no other reasonable explanation for what has happened in this case. This goes beyond Obama protecting his legacy. It goes beyond Democrats defending their own. This is the establishment protecting a member of the club at a time when the American people are getting a little too big for their breeches.

Hillary Clinton, retiree, would have faced charges. Hillary Clinton, presumptive Democratic nominee, is – for now, at least – above the law.
