If Anyone is Engaged in a Cover Up, It’s the Democrats
Under intense pressure from the restless natives in the House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi decided Wednesday that she needed to tell the media that just because she didn’t believe in impeachment, that didn’t mean she was too good to talk tough about the “crimes” of President Trump. With that in mind, she headed to the podium to explain her position.
“We do believe that it’s important to follow the facts,” Pelosi said. “We believe that no one is above the law, including the president of the United States. And we believe that the president of the United States is engaged in a cover-up.”
Perhaps Pelosi, in her desire to save face in front of other top Democrats who are desperate to bring articles of impeachment against the president, forgot that she was headed over to the White House for a meeting on infrastructure. Or maybe she didn’t. Either way, when Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer arrived at the West Wing, they were confronted by a very angry Donald Trump. After telling the Democrats that he had no intention of discussing legislation with people accusing him of a cover-up, Trump abruptly ended the meeting and marched out to the Rose Garden.
“Instead of walking in happily into a meeting, I walk in to look at people that have just said that I was doing a cover-up,” Trump said. “I don’t do cover-ups. I walked into the room and I told Senator Schumer and Speaker Pelosi: ‘I want to do infrastructure. I want to do it more than you want to do it. I’d be really good at that, that’s what I do. But you know what? You can’t do it under these circumstances. So get these phony investigations over with.’”
What Trump didn’t say, but easily could have, is that it is the Democratic Party that is engaged in a cover-up. They are trying desperately to cover up the fact that they have lied to the American people for more than two years. They do not want any attention on the inconvenient truth that they orchestrated the greatest political hoax in this country’s history. The entire story of the Mueller report should have been exactly what that little placard said in front of the president’s podium: No Collusion, No Obstruction. Any other president, and that’s all we would be talking about.
But Trump’s crime was never collusion and it was never obstruction. It was being bluntly, unabashedly for the very people that Democrats (and not a few Republicans) have tried to forget about and bury for decades. Those people – those hard-working Americans who have struggled to get ahead in an economy that favors foreigners, elitists, and grifters – are the real enemy that Democrats want to eradicate. They want to erase this nation’s pioneer history of courage, exploration, self-sufficiency, and, ultimately, liberty. And they were well on their way to succeeding when Donald Trump came on the scene and messed up all of their plans.
And for that, they will stop at absolutely nothing to destroy him.
