If We Had a Wall, Tear Gas Wouldn’t Be Necessary
The bleeding hearts are in a tizzy about the Border Patrol’s reasonable, necessary, and wholly appropriate use of tear gas against the foreign invaders who tried to rush the border on Sunday.
Absent from the major mainstream news reports about the incident (The New York Times, the Associated Press) is any mention of the fact that the migrants hurled rocks and other projectiles at our border officials before getting the gas. No, mentioning that might wake too many liberals up to the simple idea that our law enforcement officers did exactly the right thing. Hell, it might even cause a few of them to realize that Trump is right to want these people to stay on the other side of the fence.
Gee, it might even make one or two people reconsider their position on building the wall.
So no, we can’t have that. Instead, we have this piece of claptrap from the AP:
U.S. border agents fired tear gas on hundreds of migrants protesting near the border with Mexico on Sunday after some of them attempted to get through the fencing and wire separating the two countries, and American authorities shut down the nation’s busiest border crossing from the city where thousands are waiting to apply for asylum.
The situation devolved after the group began a peaceful march to appeal for the U.S. to speed processing of asylum claims for Central American migrants marooned in Tijuana.
…
An Associated Press reporter saw U.S. agents shoot several rounds of tear gas after some migrants attempted to penetrate several points along the border. Mexico’s Milenio TV showed images of migrants climbing over fences and peeling back metal sheeting to enter.
Just look at some of that language. Peaceful march, indeed.
But no, American authorities did not start firing off tear gas canisters just because they saw an immigrant “peeling back metal sheeting,” even though that’s property destruction and it would have still justified a reaction. They fired the tear gas after this violent mob attempted to enter this country illegally, hurled rocks and other objects at our men and women of law enforcement, and attempted to overrun the Border Patrol. This is why they were met with (minimal) force, and this is why Mexican officials are now deporting them back to Central America. Adios!
“Would be very SMART if Mexico would stop the Caravans long before they get to our Southern Border, or if originating countries would not let them form (it is a way they get certain people out of their country and dump in U.S. No longer),” President Trump said on Sunday.
Indeed, we have to say that they’re trying. These migrants have been offered asylum in Mexico. Many thousands have already been sent back to their countries of origin. Mexico seems to be doing what it can, but now it’s up to the United States to finish the work. And we can’t do that work properly when half of our elected officials think it’s nothing short of a war crime to enforce the damn law.
If we had a big, beautiful wall, maybe the use of tear gas wouldn’t be necessary.
