Kansas School Forced to Remove Jesus
A painting of Jesus Christ has hung in the hallway of Royster Middle School in southeast Kansas for as long as anyone can remember. “I do know it’s been decades,” said Chanute superintendent Richard Proffitt. “Some people who went through the system before – 30 to 40 years ago – knew it was hanging in the hallway back then. It was kind of a permanent fixture, if you will.”
Alas, all good thing must come to an end, especially when the country is awash with liberal parasites like the Freedom From Religion Foundation. The atheist activists couldn’t leave well enough alone, jumping at the opportunity to tackle what they call “an egregious violation of the First Amendment.” Because only Jesus himself knows how many Royster students were forced into a life of Christian slavery after being brainwashed by the picture. Even thinking about it…gosh, it gives you a shudder, doesn’t it?
Ryan Jayne, a FFRF spokesman, told the local news that violations of church and state such as the Jesus portrait made religious minorities feel unwelcome. “They are extremely likely to remain political outsiders,” he said.
Well, those outsiders can stand in the sunshine today, because the portrait – a Warner Sallman work called “Head of Christ” – has now been removed from view, safely tucked away in a location where it cannot be seen by students. “We were notified and we responded to stay in compliance,” said Proffitt.
At a glance, it seems that the small Kansas community is not happy with the decision. One former Royster student told the paper that he thought the picture should have stayed up. “Nobody else in the school seemed to be bothered by it,” said Cody Busby. “There were only one or two evolution kids and they didn’t seem bothered by it. With all the bullying that goes on in schools and how all the kids divide up into cliques, I think Jesus being there didn’t hurt a thing.”
Oh, you poor misguided fool. Don’t you have a care about the tens of people who have been made to feel unwelcome and unsafe? What if someone accidentally became a Christian because of that painting? How would you feel then, Mister Man?
These atheist organizations are the religious equivalent of patent trolls, digging underneath every dirty corner to find violations they can use to keep the money flowing in. They don’t care about the well being of the kids, and they certainly don’t give a damn about the Constitution. They only care about perverting American law for their own financial benefit. Like the ACLU, their frequent collaborators, they only care about civil rights violations when they can further the larger agenda.
But yes, by all means, let’s praise this as a moment of triumph for religious freedom. One nation under…well, whatever you want. Let’s see how that works out.
