(FixThisNation.com) – On Monday, former president Trump stated that he was “surprised” and “shocked” to hear that Fox News and Tucker Carlson were parting ways.

In an interview on Newsmax, Trump expressed his shock about Carlson leaving Fox News, and praised the former Fox host as being a “very good person, a very good man, and very talented.” He further noted that Carlson had “very high ratings” and that in the past year, he had been “terrific.”

The announcement of Carlson’s departure from Fox News shocked the media and political world, as Carlson was known for being one of the most influential political commentators on cable television. While the network did not provide any information on the reason for his departure, they did put out a statement thanking him for his work for the network. Carlson’s departure was effective immediately, meaning that his last show was aired on Friday.

This announcement came only a few days after Fox settled the lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems, with an agreement to pay them $787 million in settlement. The defamation lawsuit brought forth by Dominion dealt with Fox’s coverage of former President Trump’s claims about the 2020 election being rigged, and accusations about their software switching Trump votes to Biden votes.

Trump, who has grown critical of Fox in the past few months, had pushed for Rupert Murdoch, the owner, and chairman of Fox Corp., to embrace all his theories about voter fraud during his testimony in court.
