(FixThisNation.com) – Two leftwing organizations who have been trying to protect the Biden administration from congressional oversight are running the risk of getting in trouble with the law over potentially obstructing hearings and intimidating witnesses. A conservative legal group has called for an investigation into the groups and has even pushed for arrests where necessary.

Following the midterm elections where the Republicans managed to win back the House in November, the Congressional Integrity Project, backed by an arm of the liberal dark money funder Arabella Advisors, and Facts First USA have been criticizing the House GOP members who will be in charge of oversight. Specifically, House Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer of Kentucky and House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan of Ohio.

In an October memo, David Brock who runs Facts First pushed for “direct attacks,” “an environment of backlash,” and “maximum pushback” against GOP lawmakers. America First Legal has claimed that this could potentially lead to obstruction of congressional hearings and could even mean that witnesses and whistleblowers might feel threatened or intimidated. They have also claimed that this push resembles the push during the Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Brett Kavanaugh in 2018 when Senate Republicans had been at the center of the attacks.

Reed D. Rubinstein, director of investigations for America First Legal Foundation in a March 16 letter to the House Sergeant at Arms William Farland stated that a similar tactic to the one proposed in Brock’s plan had been used in 2018 in an attempt to obstruct the Congressional hearings that led to Kavanaugh’s confirmation. He added that this means that there is ground for taking these “promises made by Mr. Brock” seriously.
