Liberals Running to Their Psychiatrists to Whine About Trump

The American Psychological Association says that there has been a spike in stress levels across the United States, particularly among those who identify as Democrats. Approximately 72% of liberals are blaming the “political climate” for compounding their stress in the Trump Era, while 26% of Republicans feel the same way. All in all, said the APA, stress levels were at the highest point they’d been in more than a decade.

An article this week on Canada’s CBC website said that American psychiatrists were hearing one name over and over again in their sessions with clients: Trump.

“In a 2017 essay for a book co-edited by psychiatrists from Harvard Medical School and the Yale School of Medicine, clinical psychologist Jennifer Panning of Evanston, Ill., called the condition ‘Trump Anxiety Disorder,’ distinguishing it from a generalized anxiety disorder because ‘symptoms were specific to the election of Trump and the resultant unpredictable sociopolitical climate,’” reports CBC. “Though not an official diagnosis, the symptoms include feeling a loss of control and helplessness, and fretting about what’s happening in the country and spending excessive time on social media, she said.”

The rest of the CBC article is mostly constructed of a collection of anecdotal interviews, clearly cherry-picked to make it sound as it Trump supporters and Trump detractors are equally stressed out. This, of course, is a theory undermined by the APA’s statistics, which are also quoted in the article. It is also undermined by the fact that liberal psychologists have come up with a cutesy name for their patients’ maladies, and it isn’t My Liberal Facebook Friends Are Driving Me Crazy Disorder. Though we’re sure more than a few of our readers feel that way from time to time.

One doctor relates that her patient asked her: “Is he gonna blow us all up?”

“There is a fear of the world ending,” the doctor said. “It’s very disorienting and constantly unsettling.”

Another suffering leftist told reporters: “When Robert Mueller’s indictments news dropped, I wound up staying up in the middle of the night when I should have been sleeping, just thinking about it, just worried for our country.”

Sigh.

It’s difficult to feel compassion for these anti-Trump zealots, because we’ve all spent the last couple of years watching them go berserk – both online and in real life – over their fear and hatred of this president and his supporters.

At the same time, we can’t help but realize that many of these suffering liberals have been almost entirely brainwashed by the mainstream media – a media that insists every hour on the hour that our country has been taken over by a Nazi-Russian spy.

If you watched CNN all day long, you’d be looking for a psychiatrist, too.
