Mainstream Media Needs to Admit That Devin Nunes Was Right All Along

Thanks to Freedom of Information Act lawsuits from Judicial Watch, the New York Times, and other media outlets, the Department of Justice this weekend released more than 400 pages of FISA applications they used to secure foreign surveillance warrants against former Trump campaign consultant Carter Page.

While the documents are heavily redacted, what is there for the public’s perusal proves that the FBI relied primarily on the Steele Dossier to get the warrants against Page, whom they claimed was likely working as an asset for the Russian government. This was Rep. Devin Nunes’s assertion months ago in a memo that the media and Democrats insisted was a piece of partisan garbage not worth the paper it was printed on.

It’s time for all of Nunes’s critics to come out and admit that he was 100% right on the money.

We won’t hold our breath.

“Congratulations to @JudicialWatch and @TomFitton on being successful in getting the Carter Page FISA documents,” tweeted President Trump. “As usual they are ridiculously heavily redacted but confirm with little doubt that the Department of ‘Justice’ and FBI misled the courts. Witch Hunt Rigged, a Scam!”

In a second tweet, the president wrote: “Looking more and more like the Trump Campaign for President was illegally being spied upon (surveillance) for the political gain of Crooked Hillary Clinton and the DNC. Republicans must get tough now. An illegal scam!”

Unfortunately, after denigrating and ignoring Nunes’s findings months ago, the mainstream media is now pretending like this is information we’ve had all along. Worse, their reporting on the FISA applications insinuates that because the FBI was able to renew the warrants, it proves that they were finding evidence to support the original Steele Dossier assertions. In other words, they are taking stabs in the dark about what is behind the redacted lines, which is less about journalism and more about promoting an agenda. Business as usual at The New York Times, CNN, and the rest of the garbage media.

As for Carter Page himself, he told The Daily Caller that the applications were filled with nothing but nonsense.

“I’m having trouble finding any small bit of this document that rises above complete ignorance and/or insanity,” he said.

You can think something to the effect of, Well, what else is he gonna say…but that overlooks the fact that we’re sitting here in July 2018 and a supposed Russian asset is still freely walking the streets and associating with whomever he wants. We know the wheels of justice move slowly, but come on. The fact that Page has not been charged with anything proves one of two things: He was never guilty of what the FBI was claiming…or he’s an FBI mole.

Perhaps there are some surprises still to come, but we’re guessing it’s Answer #1.
