Mick Mulvaney At CBS Has The Left Going Bonkers
The news media – the heart of journalism – is supposed to stick with the facts – the who, what, when, where and how. Just the facts. Opinion is to be reserved for the editorials – with a firewall dividing reporting from opining. Of course, that was then … not now.
Modern news journalism has allowed opinion to suffocate fair and balanced reporting. And even worse, the only opinion presented comes from one side of the political partisan and philosophic continuum – the left side in case you have not noticed. Nowhere is that extreme bias more notable than on television news platforms.
The bias is not only implemented by offering up leftwing opinion with a positive spin. It blocks (cancels) personalities from the right. And only covers Republicans and conservatives with a negative spin.
Even when a news agency attempts an ever so modest balance in reporting and analysis, the leftwing media culture goes bonkers. The leftwing mob comes running out of the Fourth Estate with pitchforks and torches.
Recently, CBS News hired Mick Mulvaney, former head of the White House Office of Management and Budget. He is irrefutably one of the most knowledgeable and informed experts on the American economy. On resume alone, every news outfit wanting a balanced look at economic policy would be at Mulvaney’s door for his analysis and opinion. It is almost journalistic malpractice to not include him in the national economic discussion.
Weeell … CBS decided that what Mulvaney had to say was valuable – and his insights and opinions were important to the public discourse – the publics need for full and complete knowledge. So, they hired him. According to the CBS announcement, Mulvaney “will contribute political analysis across the Network’s broadcasts and platforms.”.
But … there was one item on Mulvaney’s resume that has the lefts’ hair on fire. He worked in the Trump administration. As one can sadly anticipate, the leftwing journalists and bloggers came out of their echo chambers to rail against Mulvaney.
They did not focus their attacks on his history as a member of Congress or his knowledge of economics and federal budgeting. No. No. No. Their articulated complaints rests solely on his having been part of the Trump administration.
It was yet another manifestation of what has been called Trump Derangement Syndrome. Nothing good is ever to be said about Trump or anyone who worked for him — or even voted for him. It all started with that political “resistance movement” that was formed immediately after Trump won the 2016 presidential election.
MSNBC’s hyperventilating and always hysterical host Mehdi Hasan tweets: “Mulvaney wasn’t just ex OMB chief. He was the acting chief of staff in the Trump White House. He lied, he misled, he covered up. And he enabled an authoritarian, far-right president. Now he’s giving ‘commentary’ on Biden’s tax plan as a paid CBS News contributor. Amazing.”
What is amazing to me that that MSNBC consistently gives a platform to an endless series of far-left hosts who spew hyperventilating propaganda commentaries like Hasan – supported by panels of parroting pundits.
Then there is always the voice of leftwing academia. Michael Calderone, a Professor of Journalism at Princeton – who mostly expresses his opinion through the retweeting those on the radical left. He appears to agree with every critic of the Mulvaney hiring. It is scary to imagine what manner of journalism he teaches the students at Princeton. I suspect “objectivity” is a rarely used word.
The media is filled with ex-White House aides as “analysts” and “contributors.” Just check out how many “formers” you see one the screen. Virtually all from the Obama and even the Clinton administrations. You get a few “formers” from the Bush administration, but only if they hate Trump. Let one former Trump person get airtime, and the left goes bonkers – and the ad hominem attacks go off like a Putin war machine.
Mick Mulvaney is a smart guy. He comes with a perspective that is informed and important. The entire purpose of the leftwing cancel culture is to stop voices that the public may find informative and persuasive. The left does not believe the public is stupid. They believe that the public is intelligent – and can decide for themselves who to believe if provided all sides of an issue. They are afraid that if the people can hear both sides, they may not – and probably would not – find the leftwing narratives to be convincing or compelling.
The good news is that no matter how much they try to cancel the voices of opposition, they cannot fool the public. That is why, despite all the hysteria … the propaganda … the fearmongering … the character assassination … and the false narratives … and all the efforts to cancel the opposition … it is likely that the American people will be putting their trust in the Republican Party in November. You know, the Party that the left says will destroy the Republic and end the American democracy.
It will be interesting to see what Mulvaney has to say on CBS.
So, there ‘tis,
