New Study Says Democrats Have Moved Left
For years, we’ve been listening to Democrats cry about the rightward drift of the Republican Party. The extremists have taken over the party, or so we hear. The reason Washington can’t get anything done is because the GOP has moved off into an ideological no-fly zone, unwilling to listen to the will of the people.
This is, of course, absurd, and now we have a scientific paper to prove it. A recent study on polarization from Princeton, Georgetown, and the University of Oregon concludes that it is the Democrats who have swung their party to the extremes. The paper, which focused on state-level politics, said that Democrats have moved to the left after losing power in local elections. Centrists have fallen to Republicans, leaving “a more liberal Democratic party” to pick up the pieces.
Of course, this goes well beyond how the Democratic Party has handled their losses. The party has found a way to embrace a rather large political spectrum, largely by giving in to the radical wing. This shift to the left has cost them southern whites, but they are fighting hard to make up the difference with women and minorities. And they are carefully cultivating an extremist platform that will expand the federal government into an unlimited goliath, using issues like climate change and racial injustice to excuse the great takeover.
Unfortunately, there are only a handful of Republicans in Congress who seem to understand what’s going on. The rest of them are beholden to the press, scared off by the threat of the liberal media. They allow themselves to be defined as obstructionists without actually doing any obstructing. And they seem to believe that the key to restoring America lies in compromising with radical socialists.
This is why Jeb Bush is floundering in the polls. He doesn’t seem to get it, either. He doesn’t seem to grasp the fact that President Obama has fundamentally changed the rules of the game. He talks about Obama as if he was just another tax-and-spend Democrat, and not the most dangerous extremist who has ever sat in the Oval Office. To him, saving this country means a little dab of course correction.
If only it were that simple.
On gun control, abortion, taxes, illegal immigration, and healthcare, the Democratic Party has opened a doorway to an America none of us could have foreseen. It’s a dark, ugly place where new rights are invented and old rights are discarded. Where you’re not an individual; you’re a number. Where all glory goes to the state.
And gridlock is the problem?
We cannot compromise with the Democratic Party of 2015 any more than we can compromise with Islamic extremists. If that means rebuilding the GOP into an iron wall of inflexible ideology, then that’s what it means. Compromise can begin again when we’ve restored the Constitution. Not a second before.
