Pathetic: Advertisers Abandon Tucker Carlson Under Pressure From Leftists

We’re well beyond the point where we expect American corporations to come to the table with even a thimbleful of courage, but that doesn’t stop us from sneering in disgust when they demonstrate that cowardice with colorful virtue signaling. That’s what happened this week when Disney and T-Mobile (for a start) yanked their ads from Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show because his views on the Black Lives Matter movement don’t align with the official narrative (in other words, they are correct).

Indeed, Disney’s cowardice is almost astounding, given that they are claiming now that they had no idea they were advertising on Carlson’s show in the first place.

“The ABC advertisements were placed on the show without our knowledge by third party media buyers who were unaware that we do not advertise on the show, and they have now been notified not to place any further ads,” a spokesman told industry site Deadline.

In remarks on Monday that generated a storm of pretend anger, Carlson said, “This may be a lot of things, this moment we’re living through, but it is definitely not about black lives. Remember that when they come for you, and at this rate, they will.”

These comments don’t seem particularly controversial given the reality on the ground, where “protesters” are burning down black-owned businesses, destroying black communities, and advocating for measures that would, first and foremost, create absolute anarchy and havoc in minority neighborhoods. Defunding the police would mark the end of America as we know it, no doubt about that, but the catastrophe would unfold in poor, black communities long before it reached the ritzy gates of Beverly Hills or Georgetown.

Nor are they controversial if you’re at all familiar with Black Lives Matter and the rock-bottom, criminal elements that make up both its leadership and its beneficiaries. Like all political organizations, BLM is concerned – first and foremost – with keeping itself alive and well-funded. That is a conflict of interest in itself – if they were to ever admit that “things are better now,” they would have no further reason to exist. To prevent that from happening, they make sure that, every day in every way, their demands grow more and more unreasonable and ridiculous.

But of course, the people who run a corporation like Disney – like most liberals – aren’t going to bother digging beneath the “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” placards to find the festering worms underneath. They are going to obediently take a knee, learn all the right things to say, make sure their diversity department is properly thinning the white employee herd, and fold like a cheap tent when they get the slightest pushback from Social Justice, Inc.

Thankfully (at least so far), Fox News Channel has a bit more backbone.
