Rashida Tlaib Shows Detroit Police How Pig-Ignorant She Actually Is
It’s been a while since we’ve felt this sort of secondhand embarrassment for a Democrat, and that’s saying something, seeing as how regularly members of this misbegotten party humiliate themselves in the public arena. But while there are plenty of 2020 contenders throwing around a whole lot of stupid ideas in their bid to “out-left” the rest of the field, you get the feeling that they’ve at least put some thought into their proposals. Bad thought backed by bad research, granted, but thought nonetheless. It’s dismaying to see Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren lead their supporters down the primrose path, but at least they seem like they’ve read a book or two in their lifetimes.
The same, sadly, cannot be said for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, or the rest of the so-called House Squad. These clowns rarely open their mouths without demonstrating their ignorance to all who have ears.
It’s hard to pick one instance worse than any other, but Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) made a run for the gold medal in August when she snidely tweeted, “@detroitpolice You should probably rethink this whole facial recognition bulls**t.”
This got a near-instant clapback from the Detroit Police. “@RashidaTlaib Before you criticize the software, come to our Real Time Crime Center to see how we @detroitpolice responsibly use it in efforts to identify criminals involved in violent crimes. Let’s set a date.”
Yeah, but who cares about solving violent crimes when there’s the welfare of illegal immigrants and Palestinians to worry about? And what difference does it make if we solve crimes if black people are the perpetrators? Aren’t we just propping up the “modern slavery” of mass incarceration?
Tlaib did take the Crime Center up on their offer, though, and this week she paid them a visit. She did not, unfortunately, appear to bring an open mind. Or any mind at all.
“Who are you and why are you recording me?” she snapped at a reporter from The Detroit News upon arriving at the facility. This idiot believed the photographer was doing some sort of undercover facial-recognition work for the police department.
How did this moron get elected, exactly?
After Police Chief James Craig patiently walked Tlaib through the software, explained how it worked, and introduced her to an African American facial recognition analyst (so she didn’t go away thinking this was some weird “white supremacy” outfit, as she no doubt would have), Tlaib butted in with some nonsense she vaguely heard in a House committee meeting about the software unfairly targeting black suspects.
“See if you can get some of our money back until they fix it,” Tlaib said.
“No,” Craig replied, hilariously.
After Craig told her how the software had helped the department catch a murder suspect, Tlaib once again proved that she can only hear things that have to do with social justice. Her mind is just running on a spinning wheel of “impeachment Trump impeachment Palestine impeachment I’m famous impeachment children-in-cages impeachment Doritos.”
She said this: “Analysts need to be African Americans. Non-African Americans think African Americans all look the same.”
That’s too many times to say the term “African Americans” in a row, but besides that…really? That’s your response to all of this? Did you learn ANYTHING from your tour of the center? Are you really that stupid that you think some generic, bottom-of-the-barrel comedy quip is the appropriate response to the technology?
“I trust people who are trained regardless of race and regardless of gender,” Craig said (who is, we might add, himself a black man). “It is about the training.”
This guy must have the patience of a saint. Too bad there’s no training to be a U.S. lawmaker. Maybe it could have weeded out numbskulls like Rashida Tlaib.
